Nice building, shame about the restaurant! Yes, they were busy, it was Easter Monday evening and, fair enough, we had to wait for a table to be cleaned before we could sit down. However, the table did just need cleaning but we were left waiting at the main entrance because the staff were busy serving(and forgotten that we were waiting!). Once seated, the waitress was hasty in coming to take our order so we ordered drinks. As the three people I was with asked for ginger beer, I asked for one too but also a jug of tap water. Our drinks were brought by a different server: 3 ginger beers, jug of water and 8 glasses alost filled with ice cubes. We then couldn’t attract the attention of any waiting staff to request the missing drink! Our food arrived, at which point we reminded them about the 4th drink. The food was ok. We felt that the bar staff should rein back on the amount of ice cubes the dole out into the drinks glasses. None of us wanted ice in the ginger beer because it waters it down! The waiting staff seemed rushed off their feet but didn’t come across as very friendly! For dessert, my 3 companions ordered waffles that were huge. I opted for a floater coffee which was fine, aside from the coffee grounds at the bottom! We all agreed that, all in all, we had had better meals elsewhere.

I went to The Oakmere in Potters Bar and ordered a burger. My burger was completely burned. I knew I couldn’t eat it so I return the plate to the waitress and explained why. Then she told me they could cook again but it would come out the same and that that’s their procedure for cooking burgers to avoid food poisoning such as E. coli. What kind of restaurant can say something like that without being embarrassed about it? The only reason they have to worry about food poisoning is because their meat is not fresh and they cannot trust the seller they are buying the meat from. Also they could have adjusted the flame of the grill to cook the meat throughout without burning outside of it. I’m never going back there again.
