It promises so much and delivers so little, great location bit once you get inside its small and lacking in character. Still at least you will get a bit of variety here.

Whilst a Weatherspoons chain pub it is well run, friendly atmosphere and perfectly pitched for the Barbican. Food is fine, well priced and a good selection. Drinks — wide selection. Bar gets crowed peak time so best double up on your orders. Outside seating great in Summer, less so in winter and could do with heaters. Door staff friendly and never had a problem in there.

This Wetherspoons benefits from a lovely location within the Barbican area of town. Out front it has a heated courtyard, that is partially sheltered. This was handy on a wet and cold Sunday lunchtime, as the inside was busy. My pint of Thornbridge Pale Ale was really really delicious. The lovely barmaids didn’t seem to be serving people very quickly though, probably because a lot of them were ordering food. Named after two giants of legend

The Gog Magog seems like a classic«local pub» in the sense that it seems to draw a local, loyal crowd. It also offers good, cheap drinks and tasty food(well, at least the dessert, as I didn’t actually eat dinner here). It can get crowded, but there seemed to always be room somewhere to grab a seat. The drinks were always good and the cocktails never weak(though some were odd — I’d skip the Purple Rain if I were you, unless you like kool-aid). The prices were hard to beat, too. Some pints went for as low as £1 — can’t go wrong with that! All in all, more likely a 3-star pub with a bonus star for great prices on many drinks. Also, be sure to try some Crabbies while your there — I found it to be a rather delicious ginger beer!

Great bar, with a very good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Only downside to this bar is the food. Service is slow and they often run out of ingredients. However, they neglect to inform you of this at the bar, coming over 10 minutes later to tell you which delays your food even more. Bar staff here are usually good.

This is a very modern Weatherspoons, it is situated on the Barbican so is in a good location. You enter through a little courtyard where you can sit and drink and eat, the front of the building is all doors. There are quite a few sofas in the bar, and the bar itself is really bright and well lit with every choice of drinks. Same as every weatherspoon they have a large menu which is really good value. We ordered a light meal between us and with drinks we had change from £10. The meal came within 15 mins, and we enjoyed it sitting on the sofas just inside the door. The staff were really very friendly and helpful, it’s a lovely place to while away a quiet afternoon. By evening and in the summer it becomes very popular due to the location and the fact that the drinks are so cheap.

Well, its part of the Wetherspoons chain, but don’t let that put you off. Generally a nice atmosphere, but can get very busy in the evenings, as it is fairly compact. They have curry nights, Beer and burger deals, Cheap drink nights, steak night and they do a roast on Sundays. With a range of local ale;s always on offer and an annual beer festival. Bear in mind on busy nights you won’t always be able to find somewhere to sit. Cheap menu and cheap beer, plus friendly staff, make this a must visit on a buget. If you like Wetherspoons try the Union Rooms as another option.
