Food was average, but large portions at good prices. I struggled to eat half of my plate of pasta.

The chips here didn’t look like the fish and chips I am used to, but if anything they tasted better than I am used to. Really tasty. You can take away or eat in. I’ve done both and would also recommend the scampi!

Easily the best of the middling café/restaurants just around here with the possible exception of the renown fish restaurant Platterrs around the corner. The Barbican Pasta Bar has a huge selection of food from almost all the genres. It is averagely priced fairly efficiently served by friendly staff and management and it usually hasd a sense of fun and bustle. If you are out for a boozy evening, eating out of your B & B or just taking a break from cooking at home — even a stag hen or retirement event then this is a good spot fot a cheappie group meal.

This little restaurant just off the Barbican looked a welcoming place so in we went. I had Garlic mushrooms followed by Lemon Chicken this was very enjoyable, my partner had pasta with chicken and the bit I tried was very tasty the prices where reasonable to bearing in mind the location.

Well what can I say, My wife and a few friends went out for a nice lunch. what we got was a unpleasant experience, due to by business dealings I have a very wide experience of eating places and it has been a long time since I had one as poor as this. Upon our arrival we were promptly told to wait outside(in the pouring rain) and wait. When we finally get to a table. We sit down and things appear to get better I catch up with my friends and we order drinks, as we were all driving we asked for Coke, a very simple drink. What we got was flat brown stuff that did not taste of coke at all and was manly a lemon taste. the half pint glasses are more than half full of ice so that I would fairly guess that the glass could not of contained no more than a quarter of coke and the rest was water. We thought nothing of this, the place was busy after all and it is only coke. However we placed our orders and we waited and waited and waited. After 35 minutes my wife politely asked the waiter what was going on. A few minutes more and the manager comes over a in front of us all tell my wife off for being impatient and argues that my wife’s watch must be wrong as she(the manager) said that we have not been waiting long. After this we thought that we should just get up and leave, however being honest we did not want to leave without paying, and since we finally had out starters we would stay. My friend Rupert who is a Chef himself was by this time getting tired of things suddenly realised that he was running out of time on his car for the car park and had to dash off. The main course turned up, instead of the waiter taking it back to keep it warm he just left it there and when we tried to get attention we were ignored. When Rupert returned his food was cold and had the consistency of rubber. The main course for the rest of us was not bad, the only point that I would add is that the parmesan cheese that I was offered to put on my pasta was in a shake tin and when I opened this to see how must was inside, I found some unknown green things inside the tin along with what I thought must be black pepper. Over all I will give my eating experience a 4 out of 10 and my customer service experience a 0 out of 10, there is no excuse for rudeness and especially from the manager, The barbican pasta bar is not worth going to because you will wait long periods of time receive poor drinks and then receive rude comments from the management, this is not the way to do business and I hope that some will pay attention to this review and locate a better standard of restaurant. Plymouth has a lot to offer and you can do much better than the Barbican Pasta Bar

Anytime, I am in Plymouth for a weekend, or midweek footie match, to watch my beloved Pilgrims, I always, make the Barbican Pasta Bar, one of my evening meal visits(the other being The Ship Inn, just around the corner). The food, as you might guess, is Italian, and is very good. I normally go for Chicken La De Da, or their Spaghetti Bolognese. The menu is varied, so most tastes should be catered for, and they have a very good dessert menu. I always go for the Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream. Staff great, apart from one lady from north of England, who can be a bit abrupt at times. One night, I arrived 30 minutes too early(my mistake, I’d forgotten which time I had booked for), and the lady in question, was not too pleased, to say the least. Saying that, it is so popular, you have to book a table, and all in all, despite one staff member, it is well worth a visit. Top class food, give it a try.

This is quite a cheap resturant and on some dishes it shows. I had chicken wings for starters and they were burnt to a crisp and you could still see some evidence of feathers. I had the lamb chops and chips — which was just that, others with me had pasta dishes and seemed to have got alot more for there money

Cheap food, always reliable with fast and friendly service. A place to longer with friends and to eat simple pasta dishes that fill you up and make you feel happy. Waiting staff are friendly and helpful. It’s the kind of place you ‘always’ go to for one reason or another. Often full of big parties on Friday and Saturday nights-but that usually just adds to the atmosphere. Not Cordon Bleu but Good Grub!

This really is a lovely place, the whole place breeds happiness, the staff are not only friendly but very patient and seem to just want to make your experience here as nice as possible. I think the main attraction that drew us into coming here was the warm enviornment we saw when looking through the window. The place has really lovely food, mostly italian but they can adapt the food and it really does taste yummy! I would say it is on the higher side in terms of prices, but would say that the money is definitely well spent! The La Deee Da is lovely — not sure i have spelt that one right! This is in a pitta bread with chicken and you can have this lemon on it, hmmm its really lovely. I think this is an ideal place for a birthday or a staff meal. I have had a staff meal here once and it was just a really good venue. Booking is certainly a must especially on the weekends! must go to if visiting plymouth as a tourist.

Really great for pasta lovers! There is a wide range of dishes and I really enjoyed the food. It’s a bit cramped in there when it’s busy but it has a nice atmosphere.
