Good fish and chips! Their beers are good as well :-) conveniently located a few steps from Picadilly. The staff is efficient and friendly.

What a find! Although in a busy tourist-filled area, this pub is cosy and welcoming with reasonable priced ales. Ales are what we came here for… and we were not disappointed! Fantastic selection to please wide variety of tastes. Friendly staff. It’s a small place so near the entryway can be a bit close-quarters, but that did not deter from our great experience here. Will certainly be back again soon.

Even though this is a very small pub, it’s got plenty of character. :) Also, anyone who is a beer drinker, The Lyric has loyalty cards so for every pint you buy, they stamp the card. After 9 pints — you get 1 free. Some of my friends have loads of cards stacked up and we go almost every thursday to keep topping up the stamps. Their fish finger sandwich is the BEST I’ve had… EVER! I highly recommend it. The food is great quality. Try it out — you won’t be disappointed.

The basement is a men’s bathroom which is more like a giant toilet carved into the wall and ground(no way someone should miss the mark here, but I bet it still happens). At ground level there is a happening pub. Upstairs is a quaint dining area with a small fire place and just a few tables where they serve delicious classic English pub grub. Can you guess where we spent most of our time? We opted for the dining area because, well, we were hungry more than anything else. We did order some good beers however, and along with those we also partook of the fish ‘n chips and the chicken and bacon pie & mash with peas and gravy. Gotta’ say… the food was really good!

They didn’t have a lot of the beers they say they had, food was ok but nothing you can’t find somewhere else.

Absolutely great little pub. Staying in the picadilly area for work and desperately needed some food and drink. Ordered a steak and ale pie which came out of the kitchen steamy hot and delicious. Asked the bar tender for his two favorite beers, and he brought over a Funky Monkey from Sweden(as he informed me it’s the only pub in England that serves it) and a red IPA from a local brewery. I tend to be a bit of a beer snob, but the drinks were great and they had a much wider selection than the standard Strlla Artois and Heineken. They even had American football on which was great considering I am a huge fan. It is very much standard pub fare, but if that’s what you’re looking for than the lyric is a fantastic option.

Currently watching the merseyside derby with a friend. Decently crowded but definitely a calm environment. As an American over here I really like this pub. Lots of beers on tap and in bottle. Haven’t eaten anything, but the environment and beers and vibe of the place is really nice.

Très bon rapport qualité/prix pour le coin. On était 3. On a pris des starters. Le pork était un peu que du gras pour nous mais le poulet était très bon. Pour les plats on a pris le saumon et les mac & cheese. Tout était très bon. 30 £ a 3 avec les boissons. Très bien…

Great spot we hit before seeing a show at the Gielgud. The food is terrific — standard pub fare, but really well done. My wife raved about her burger, and I loved my Steak n Ale pie with delicious mashed potatoes. Two craft beer recs: Titanic Stout and Brooklyn Lager. Potent and tasty. Highly recommend.

Great beer selection, but some significant cons to this place. 1.) Bloody over-priced, even for the area. £11.60 for two pints? Ridiculous! 2.) Chap poured the wrong pint, and though he corrected his error, he didn’t look happy about it. Nor would I, to be fair, if I had to pour £5.60 down the drain. 3.) They gave me a wierd No. Ireland fiver that no one else would accept(chap’s comment at the next pub was«what is this, Euros?»). 4.) Full of loud estate-agent types, but that’s typical for the area. In sum, great beer, but you’re going to pay through the nose for it and endure some grief besides. Is it worth it? You’ll have to decide for yourself.

Amazing little pub in the SoHo area of Central London. My hubby and I had literally just landed in London and dropped off our stuff and started wandering… We happened upon The Lyric and couldn’t have been luckier. Ambiance is classic English Pub… Not too flashy, but lots of space to sit and nice bartenders/servers. We were exhausted and starving from walking around, so we settled here… I had the fish & chips(i mean… obvi, right?) and my hubby had the pulled pork sandwich with spicy slaw. The fish and chips came with a side of delicious tartar sauce and peas! Did I mention it was piping hot… As in, I was so hungry I took a bite and nearly burned my face off… But in a good way! LOL. The batter was nice and light and the fish was very flaky. My hubby’s pork sandwich was pretty good, but not anything to come back for… I really liked the beer selection. Even though the bar is pretty small, they offer a lot of varieties of good stuff… The bartenders are also really helpful when you’re a jet-laggeed American that can barely speak due to exhaustion… LOL. He set me up with a beer that was light and crisp. Pros: –Cool bartenders –Great food –Comfortable ambiance –Good pricing Cons: –Gets crowded after 5PM Tips: –Take a seat as soon as you can get it… Or stop in just before 5 to reserve seats for you and some friends!

My wife and I ate here when we were both having a hankering for some hearty lunch food. The staff is casual and friendly. There is a tiny dinning room upstairs where we found a seat. There seemed to be quite a few people taking their lunch break in the restaurant. The Fish and Chips were excellent. The coating was crisp, and the fish had that creamy texture that I like with fried fish. It was seasoned well. We were on our first trip to the UK, but we know good fried fish, and we were very happy here. The Steak and Ale pie also had excellent flavor, as did the gravy. The chips and mashed potatoes were also good – excellent for making the most of the extra gravy. Good portions overall. There seemed to be a decent craft beer list for a London bar. We were glad we wandered into the Lyric.

Studying abroad in London for a year, a couple friends took me to The Lyric. We ate upstairs in a small, nearly private dining room. It felt like a great place for an intimate formal date, but in a causal atmosphere(if that makes any sense at all).I returned several times with friend visiting from home and new friends I made at Uni. I loved the food, as did my friends(we all had different dishes and shared bites), and I loved the charming atmosphere. I love English pub food, and this was my cup of tea.

Please note this review is just about the pub, not the restaurant and that I visited on a sunny school night! I think it gets busier at the weekends. Searching for a pub venue to meet some friend in the Soho area and seeing the Lyric as ranking the highest amongst it’s counterparts, i felt that this had to be the venue we tried. And you Unilocalers are completely right — this is a smashing little venue. Great real ales, fantastic ciders, a generally great selection of drinks… A lovely clean, airy(although the venue is tiny), but earthly, homely feel to the venue and friendly staff. It feels like a little old man pub, with all that character, but where you are welcome and with wonderful friendly punters. Thanks for the recommendation guys, this is by far the best pub I have been to in the area and it’s on my list of firm favourites. Also a good spot if you want some wifi access — and as the meeting i had was to plan a couple of things, and not as social as i would have liked, this was essential. It was also helpful that we could get a table fairly easily as most people were standing outside as it was a fabulous day. I’ll have to return and go to the upstairs bar for some food, i saw some plates going past and regretting having eaten before.

A great spot to grab a quick lunch. The sausage and mash special(I even dare calling it that way) is amazing and quite delicious. I would really not expect such quality of food in such small pub in Soho. They also make excellent fish and chips — crispy and always served hot and yum.

Landed here on a rainy New Years’ Day; they had the fireplace going and we were lucky enough to get the closest seats. Just meant to grab a pint then go, and spend nearly the entire day here. Fun and funny staff, good food, and great beer.

This place gets crazy on Friday nights. There’s an absurd amount of craft beers on draught, but many are unlabeled so you have to chat up the bartender and see what they’ve got available. We sat upstairs in the small dining room, which was great for a meal and conversation, but terrible for beers since our waitress didn’t know about any of the beers they had downstairs! Still, super fun place to be when it’s packed and lively.

Had delicious fish and chips here. Good atmosphere when we came pretty early on a Monday evening! The waiter seemed to turn his nose up at my friend’s request for a corona pointing out that this was a specialty beer pub. He did however then bring us two delicious beers — so fair enough I suppose.

Cute little pub. Food was pretty good and they have a few nice vegetarian options — always handy in London. The bartenders were fairly grumpy and unhelpful.

Best bangers ‘n mash I had in London. The sausage of the day when I stopped in was lamb and mint, and it was DIVINE. My buddy’s fish and chips were also better than most of what I had at other pubs. Friendly bartenders and clientele; we ate downstairs and I almost wished it was cold out so we could properly enjoy the fireplace. It’s probably good that I live nowhere near The Lyric, as I’d undoubtedly be gorging myself there on the regular.
