Great pizza margarita. Excellent dough and tomato sauce. Really fast take out service.

Nice view of the river, and tasty food. A good menu selection including healthier choices — I got the pizza ring(don’t really remember the name) and loved it!

As a Chicagoan, I’ll admit my tastes in pizza are not the international norm(I like deep dish). That preface aside, this experience was just ok. I arrived about an hour before closing on a Sunday. The downstairs dining room was closed so I proceeded upstairs. Once there, both the couple in front of me were told«to find a clean table and they would relocate us if they needed to». I picked a table near the waiter’s station and had a seat. I was quickly handed a menu from the person that seemed to be the hostess. 20 minutes later was the first time after that anyone said a word to me when they finally took my order. I placed my order for an American and a diet coke. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but again… besides taking my plate away, I never heard from anyone again(I’m writing this review on my phone as I sit here waiting for my check). For the record, those that I did interact with were friendly and polite. The food itself was good. My only quips as an American are that: 1. The pizza wasn’t cut. Cutting a pizza the size of the plate it’s in with essentially a butter knife is a pain. 2. The story on the menu mixes sausage and pepperoni. Again, as a Chicagoan, there is a difference. Overall, this is a decent place if you want decent pizza, are not in a hurry, and want to be left alone(I’m still waiting for my check…).

The only reasonably priced/cheap restaurant with outstanding views of the Thames I’ve been able to find. Yes Pizza Express gets knocked a lot, and true you don’t want to be taken here on a date, BUT given it’s fair prices and stunning and romantic views at this location — it’s very much worth a visit. Have an NUS card — 40% off on Mondays!

Very good pizza, albeit a by pricey(of course, everything in London is expensive, it seems). Anyway, I had a lovely pizza that had a hole in the middle for a salad… really delicious! The rest of my family enjoyed their pizzas, as well. It’s right on the river and a great place to stop after you tour the Globe.

Visiting from the US and looked on Unilocal to find a place to eat and decided to give this place a try. Ate here late night. We both had the thin crust pizza and loved it! The service was great and their new moscato was yummy. The view was very nice. We had great service too. We would return.

The pizza was delicious! If you sit in the upper floor you get a perfect view of the Thames! The service was good and the prices were reasonable!

This Pizza Express has wonderful views and a nice atmosphere but is let down somewhat by the service which hasn’t been as good here on the few times I’ve visited as it’s been at other branches of the same chain.

Good choice of pizzas mine came just as I like it thin base and lots of asparagus. Some of us chose pasta, which also went down well. Service was friendly but a bit chaotic, despite the restaurant being fairly quiet that lunchtime. One person’s meal(there were eight of us) arrived much later than the rest. Also, when the server came to clear the table I was still eating, but he stretched across my plate to clear the place of the person next to me, almost knocking my cutlery out of my hands. Appetising food, good value, pleasant view across the Thames and quiet enough to have a decent conversation, but you wouldn’t risk bringing a client here.

I am usually very much anti-chain restaurant, especially when visiting a foreign country. I have to say though, I was pleasantly surprised! I loved being able to get a pizza with a hole filled of salad for under 500 calories. It seemed like a miracle! And to top it off it tasted great… I was however a little hungry still after cleaning my plate. I can only imagine the regular pizza to be even better and more satisfying then the one I got. Definitely worth a visit for an inexpensive and tasty lunch!

It’s a pizza express… it sells pizza express pizzas and pizza express salads and peroni and the all important dough balls. but I thought it worth writing a review as this is a busy location and yet had really nice service — a little chaotic, but friendly — quick and tasty food. it’s also not a bad to watch the world go by from the upstairs windows, and of course it’s super handy for the Globe. Pizza express have re-done their menu and have all these ‘celebrity’ chef menus and things. You can now get a romana base on any pizza and they’re pretty good — thin and crispy. Sad to see the chicken salad I loved disappear though!

It being my first time to London, this was my first time to Pizza Express. I wish we had something equal to this in the states, so I’m not stuck eating at the horrible Pizza Hut chains. I ordered something from the«lighter» pizza menu, which included a small personal pizza, with the middle missing! Reading the description«salad in the middle», my friend and I immediately assumed it was lettuce within dough(yeah, we are dumb sometimes). It included a very small salad in the middle of the pizza, which is stated to be under 500 calories all together. It was the perfect portion for lunch, left stuffed, and worth what I paid. After walking past three other Pizza Expresses on the trip, I realize they are all probably exactly the same, with a cool, «hip» feel. Also, this was lunch on Christmas Eve, which I was very thankful they were open! Thanks Pizza Express.

My husband thinks I hate all chains when it comes to dining, and always hesitates to recommend one or tries to steer me away when I see one and say«That place looks alright.» But I’m not an unreasonable chain snob. There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying the consistent food, quality and experience of a chain, when it’s done right. I’ve been to three different Pizza Expresses(this being the one that gets the Unilocal review for it’s fantastic location and view of the river from its second level), and have experienced some of the best service in all my dining ventures in this city at PE. The crust is flavorful, the ingredients are of good quality and the menu offers enough variety to please nearly anyone you happen to be out with — your parents, your co-workers, your boyfriend, your 7-year-old niece, whatever! There’s something to be said for having a go-to spot where you don’t have to overthink it and the price point is reasonable for most people and spot on for the quality of food. And they participate in Taste London, so 2-for-1 pizzas can seal the deal if you’re pinching pennies(pences??)

I have frequented many Pizza Expresses, and this is the only one where twice I have been subjected to poor service. The most recent visit saw us waiting so long for our drinks that our food arrived first(and that was after a long wait). My pizza had the wrong toppings, but as it was impossible to catch a member off staff I decided it would be more prudent just to eat it anyway. Then when we were ready to leave, we spent nearly 20 minutes trying to catch a member of staff to give us the bill. In the end we got up and made to walk out, just to get their attention. Then as we settled our bill and explained our frustration at the wait, there was no apology forthcoming. I’m only too aware how thankless customer service can be and I’m prepared to make allowances for places if they explain they are busier than usual/short staffed/etc, but I won’t stand for appalling service and then being sneered at when I comment on it. Other than the service, the food is as good as any branch of Pizza Express, and the view surpasses most. Maybe I’ll give it another chance some time…

Scoop can stop quaking in its boots, Pizza Express gelato isn’t going to steal this Unilocaler’s heart(and tastebuds) any time soon. This gelato stand has a lot going for it. Prime location: right on the South Bank, price: £1.85 for a decent sized scoop and nearby seating for comfortable sit and licking. They had a gorgeous looking selection and the hazelnut, my favourite, looked creamy and appealing. Meh, it was just whatever. There didn’t seem to be any depth of flavour and it melted so fast. Disappointed face.

Keine Chance.

This was slightly different from the Pizza Express’s I had experienced before, the location is right on the Thames with a great view of St. Paul’s a very romantic location if you get a slow setting sun as well. The restaurant itself was nice and clean and the staff were attentive and knew the menu well. You can actually see your food being prepared & cooked as the kitchen is quite open(expecially from upstairs). The food itself was very tasty and quite reasonably priced — would definately go again.

Freitag Abend war der Laden rappeldicke voll. Super schöner Blick auf die Themse. Schneller Service. Leckere Pizza und noch viele andere Arten an Speisen. Kann ich nur empfhelen, da nicht übermässig teuer und in bester Lage.

After a fascinating trip to the Globe(see for more details), this Pizza Express was fortuitously positioned within spitting distance, and happily so as the icy chills sludged through my bones and made me rather agitated. As far as chain restaurants, this has always been my favourite and it would take one mighty chain to depose it! Revered chef Theo Randall’s pizzas are a welcome addition to an already adventurous menu, which seems to expand every season for the last 43 years. From delicious arancini(meaty-rice balls of hearty goodness) or porcini mushroom risotto for starters to either TR’s Favorita or Gamborettini for mains, you can’t really go wrong here and this restaurant particularly stands out for its beautiful location, with a hint of romance in the windswept air.

Rushed but polite waiting staff — they forgot some of our order and took ages to come last time i was there, decent but standard food what more can you say about a Pizza Express? The best thing about is it a good view of the Thames from the upstairs seating area.
