Pan de Vie is excellent. I have been so many times already. I love their desserts and their packaging. The cakes and other treats here look amazing and are substantial enough in size to cater for their price tag. I haven’t yet been disappointed like other reviewers, maybe because I’m a big fan of the fusion-Japanese, so I may be a biased… I will go here many more times because I am a huge fan of their cakes and breads. Here’s a couple of tips… When you’re here awe-ing at the beautiful cakes, pick up some matcha green tea buns(bread bun) for your breakfast the following day. Yummy! And the best cake I have eaten here yet is the Caramelita, it is. Divine! Tastes amazing. I didn’t give 5 stars because I did have the matcha latte which tasted horrible! Please have anything but the matcha latte and you will be impressed.

Extremely average cakes at ridiculously high prices. Our matcha-lychee cake and black sesame cakes had the same hard jelly textures with a tinge of slightly soggy cake. The lychee flavour drowned out the matcha taste in my cake and the whole thing was just a bit… underwhelming. It didn’t help that the place was empty when we walked in, furniture was a bit sterile and staff obviously did not want to be there.

Found this place while walking around the area, to me it is like a gourmet bakery. Pastries are not cheap but quality is outstanding.

For what you get, it’s just way way way too pricy! A small cake it’s easily £5+, and if you want a decent cheese cake slice you are talking about almost £10. While I loved the mocha taste and love what they did. The price is just not welcoming that I’d rather share with people than have my own. Should they make the price even slightly more reasonable I’d easily buy a few! Food is great but crap price!

An Asian bakery that sells a range of breads and cakes. There is a variety of green tea breads and cakes, including Matcha & Lychee Mousse cake. It brings two popular Asian flavours, green tea and lychee together. The cake has different layers consisting of green tea mousse, green tea sponge and lychee jelly. The Matcha muffin you can taste the flavour of green tea. The muffin was soft and the sweetness was just right. The Black sesame mousse cake is soft, light and fluffy. It was not sweet at all and has a light subtle flavour of black sesame. Don’t let all the green tea take the limelight from this black sesame mousse cake. It has definitely won me over by that first bite. Although this is not really a Japanese bakery you will find Japanese cheesecake which are available in mini size or 5inch size. They also come in original or green tea flavour. The cakes at Pan de Vie is not cheap to eat, as takeaway will cost £4.20 and eat in £5. But looking at the design of each cake, it does take effort. The bakery is spread over two floors with a few bar seats upstairs and downstairs is a small seating area. But with it current popularity it can get busy. I suggest you check for seating before placing order. Otherwise you might as well buy the cake as takeaway and save on the 80p!

Pan de Vie has a wonderful and niche concept, one that I can see it will work and become a very popular place for the Asian communities in London. While price is not cheap(you are looking at £5 a cake), without a question the quality is there and it is just as good, if not better than some of the more established pastry places in London. If you are not into sweet stuff, there is also some savoury Oriental styled bread such as Japanese curry bun and cheesy bacon roll.

A small shop which is hit and miss… service is a miss, plenty of staff and smiles but not much depth to their knowledge. The ham bun wasn’t as hoped, I’ve had much better. Hits were the matcha madeleines, cheesecake and matcha tea. Yuzu tea and matcha/adzuki bean gâteau were ok. Worth remembering they refill cakes at 6pm.

This bakery is more like HongKong rather than Japan. The cheesecake was disappointing. Same quality with the one you can get from the supermarket! The portion was tiny. Totally not worth the hype!

Visited this Bakery with my wife and we absolutely loved it! Great breadth of selections I’ve never seen before — their«Asian» and French blend of cakes is refreshing compared to the standard bakeries found in London. Delicious and def would recommend friends to check it out.
