BB Bakery

I made sure I googled where to go for a good afternoon tea before I came to London. BB bakery did not let me down! I am so jealous of people here who can enjoy afternoon tea everyday… this makes me want to move to London…

Delicious! I visited this place by myself based on a recommendation. Such a cute, girly interior and the cake display looks like a piece of heaven! The waiter seated me straight away, promptly took my order and brought it all out in great time. I ordered the tea and scone option, and it was really delicious! Very filling too, you wouldn’t expect that from one scone! A great place to catch up with girlfriends, or go solo. Definitely worth checking out

The place is great for afternoon tea.
The tea is good and better than average and the cakes are amazing by looks and tastes great!
The afternoon tea set is £29 per person and it is a bit expensive than expected.
The kitchen is quite close by, so a bit noisy though…

I’ve been watching Bake Off: crème de la crème and craving a patisserie style cake. BB had good reviews and I can see why!
Coffee and any cake for £8.80, not bad for central London. I went for the waiter’s recommendation as it was hard to tell what everything was from their names. It was really tasty, lovely buttery thin pastry and delicious raspberry and pistachio filling. The coffee wasn’t great, I’d probably order tea next time.
The service is really relaxed for drop ins, which I enjoyed, we were left to our own devices.
We went at around 2pm and got a table easily, but when we left at 3pm it was full so you might have a wait.
Well worth a visit, especially if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden!

THE best afternoon tea in London: their bus tour has everything you may want or need from an afternoon tea. Delicious pastries perfectly executed, not buttery or too heavy, and amazing savoury stuff too. Plus, it’s on a refurbished routemaster going around London. What more do you want?

The BB Bakery afternoon tea bus tour leaves from London’s South Bank and passes several iconic landmarks, including the Royal Albert Hall, Harrods, Buckingham Palace and, of course, Big Ben!
Almost as exciting as the view is the fact that they offer a gluten-​free afternoon tea option — and it’s glorious.
Scones, sandwiches, meringues and chocolate tarts — all gluten-​free, and served beautifully on plates suction-​cupped to the table, to avoid spillages along the route!
The food was incredible, as was the tea — and the view wasn’t half bad either, although I couldn’t say I was paying as much attention as London deserves due to the food and pleasant company!
I had a great time on the BB Bakery Tour, and highly recommend it — a great day out.

On entrance the welcome from the lady was a bit abrupt and said we can’t eat in as closing in an hour so can only have takeaway but once we explained we only wanted cake and tea she then said ok we can eat in. She was very nice in the end, very chatty. The cupcake that i had was a toffee one which was very toffee tasting indeed and I also had the days special passion fruit mousse on coconut base which was delicious and sweet. I also had English breakfast tea along with my cakes and it was lovely. I really like having tea from proper bone china teapot and cup makes it so much better and more dainty. the décor of the cake shop is also very quaint and spacious. I love the cartoon pictures used on walls and some crockery. Also BB Bakery you can have afternoon tea and you can have it on there special bus tour and on a boat along the Thames (limited period). They also have a lunch type box that you can buy from the shop as a picnic type afternoon tea. At present the theme of the shop us based on the seaside but the theme changes every so often. I recommend BB bakery to anyone that loves cake and drinking from a proper bone china cup.

My absolute number one for Afternoon Tea. Any time I have friends or family wanting to partake in this past time I automatically book here.
The place itself oozes a girly chic from the seating to the wall art. It has an casual elegance which gives you a feeling of fanciness but without the prentenousness.
The food selection is great and so much of it that you will end up taking some home. My only gripe with the place is that they serve the scones after the cakes but I know it’s because they bring out the scones warm. Plus it’s one of those ‘cream then jam or jam then cream’ debates. I am for the former.
For a girl afternoon (and I do see guys in there as well) I couldn’t reccomend this place any more. Delicious food for a great price, for a wonderful expericence. You definitely need to book way in advance if planning on going on a weekend.

The tea room has a lovely feel to it with comfy velour covered chairs and mis-​matched china teapots and cups. The window displays themselves are a marvel to look at and in gorgeous, girly shades of pastel. The cakes are all beautiful to look at but sadly the chocolate orange one that I had was a huge disappointment. The sponge was dry and the orange flavour of the icing overpowering and dare I say it too sweet. Don’t get me wrong I still ate it all but those last few mouthfuls really were a bit of a struggle and for £3.80 I really expected something a bit more special.

Had a really nice afternoon tea in this place but on a follow up visit was left disappointed in the selection later in the day.

So this is a bit of an awkward one, but I didn’t actually eat at BB Bakery. Or go to BB Bakery.
Instead, I booked an afternoon tea bus tour, which is run by BB Bakery (so, all the food and staff were employed by them).
First, the food. Wonderful. Absolutely delightful — especially the sweets! I did it with my mom and my partner’s mom, and we all loved it. The lemon meringue and vanilla custard fruit tarts were my favourites, but all the sweets (and trust me, there were a lot of them) were delicious. The savoury treats — mini sandwiches and quiches — were also very yummy. Actually, the mushroom quiche was delicious.
The staff were great — it’s a bit tricky serving tea on a moving bus, but they managed to do it with aplomb. They were all very friendly and cracked jokes with everyone.
So, the actual bus tour. It’s not a tour in the way you’d think — no one is announcing the sights or anything like that. But there is a little guidebook at every table of the refurbished London Routemaster bus so you can follow along. I wouldn’t recommend it for a first time visitor who wants to know what everything is; the tour/​driving around aspect is not really part of the experience other than the novelty factor.
Definitely worth booking (especially on the top of the bus!) if you’re into novelty-​type afternoon teas, and like sightseeing without necessarily paying full attention. I loved it, but I also wasn’t looking for any in-​depth tours of the city!

I’m all for making a bit of an effort, and i don’t mind paying top whack for something good, because I am a strong believer in ‘you get what you pay for’… which is why I was so disappointed with BB’s.
I was out grabbing some food with some friends whilst Mrs D stayed at home marking school work. She tasked me with picking up a cake to make the marking more bearable.
We walked around Covent Garden for a while trying to find somewhere really special and stumbled across BB’s towards the end of the afternoon.
It looked amazing! Proper posh, elegant-​looking cakes, and it was rammed full of tourists having elaborate afternoon teas. The cake I ordered was a fancy Victoria sponge, but when I got it home, Mrs D was very underwhelmed with my choice. When I told her the little slice of cake cost £4.25, she just said «it’s not worth half that».
It’s all well and good looking all Dainty and impressive, but cakes should be decadent mouthfuls of escapism, a treat that makes you go «MMMMMMMMMMMMM» with glazed-​over eyes, and this cake just wasn’t that.
So yeah, it seems to be all style and no taste! There are plenty of other places to buy tasty cake, I won’t be coming back again.

I brought my Mum here for her birthday last month for afternoon tea — my Dad swept her away to Paris for her actual birthday so this was our little celebration!
I’d always walked past with dropped jaw at how amazing the cakes in their window display looked so I was pretty excited to actually come here!
I loved the atmosphere and décor; all so cute and quirky! The waitress was really nice and gave us enough time to choose our tea and then served our savouries and cakes pretty quickly! I never think that the food is going to be enough and it always surprises me how full I get! The savouries were nice, just the usual selection of sandwiches. I did find though that it all got a bit sickly sweet by the end and that I just couldn’t eat anymore of the cakes! I’d definitely come back here at some point.

I liked BB Bakery. It was very cute and feminine.
I went solo on a weekday afternoon with my Kindle. There was a bit of confusion when I initially entered. The only vacant tables needed to be cleaned and I had a tough time making eye contact with the servers to be able to sit.
My tea was fine and my lemon cake as not. It was extremely dry and perhaps overly sweet, and too cold. I utterly despise cold cake.
It was a nice little afternoon break. The décor and vibe were great, but other than that, not particularly remarkable. The service was slow and what I ordered was only okay. I’d definitely return, if only to experience the ambiance and décor.

I went here with my colleague two days ago for a work team lunch and was kind of disappointed especially as I am a frequent Afternoon Tea goer so consider myself well versed in what constitutes a good one. I booked us in for the afternoon tea and originally two other senior team members were meant to come too but had to cancel at the last minute. I was glad of this in the sense that I don’t think they would’ve been impressed either.
On arrival it took a good few minutes for us to be seated even though there were clearly two tables empty, one had been recently vacated so recently that the servers hadn’t cleared it and upon seeing us did and after removing the cutlery, crockery and mess, simply used their hand to brush/​wipe it clean!
We had booked the afternoon tea but weren’t walked through what to expect or order. Initially the service seemed quite efficient and attentive but that quickly waned, although they were busy with other patrons and visitors into the bakery this isn’t an acceptable excuse.
The afternoon tea consisted of a bottom tier of mini quiche each which was lovely, a similarly lovely salmon blini and two ham and cheese focaccias which were too hard and not very nice. Then a tier each of a walnut and chocolate brownie which was very rich, a cupcake with berry icing which was quite nice, a pistachio macaroon which was nice but too strong in taste, a lemon meringue pie which was nice and a berry tart which was nice.
Again the afternoon tea was nice but not at all exceptional especially for the price (£26) and we were never asked if we wanted more tea (always a sign of a good afternoon tea!), when we got the attention of the waitress to get the bill she exclaimed but you haven’t had the scones! We said, well we didn’t know we got any (as I said before we weren’t told what was included!) and we said we needed to go and the waitress said that’s ok I will pack them up for you to takeaway, which was good/​nice.
The ambience in the bakery was nice & I liked the décor but overall it wasn’t that impressive and I wouldn’t rush back as even the cakes and bakery items weren’t that good /​worth it and especially at the prices.
Very convenient for Covent Garden and the Strand (in between the two) so handy for a multitude of modes of public transport — overground train (Charing Cross), buses and the tube (Covent Garden, Charing Cross and Embankment).

Pros: Very girlie atmosphere so great to catch up with friends, amazing chinas and very good quality food (We didn’t have the afternoon tea. We had their lunch and ordered cake from over the counter).
Cons: The worst customer services, ever. They got our bill wrong 3x and started clearing our table 30 mins before we had to leave because they want to prep for their next group (although the bakery was ½ empty). They weren’t listening to what we were saying when we said we are still waiting for 1 person to arrive and forced us to order our food cos it takes time to prep.
I’m unsure whether I’ll return because of the attitudes of ALL of their staff, not just only one. I’d understand if the bakery was filled with customers and they are under staff, but they are not.

Wouw — die cupcakes welche ich hier hatte gehören wohl zu den besten, die ich je hatte! Zumindest in Europa habe ich noch keine besseren gefunden. Der in London sehr bekannte, und auch leckere, hummingbird kann nicht mit denen von hier mithalten.
Das Geschäft ist wie es sich gehört klein und niedlich eingerichtet. Das verbinde ich immer irgendwie mit Cupcakes.
Ich kann also nur sagen: geht und probiert! Und lasst mich wissen ob ihr meine Meinung teilt oder ob ihr noch bessere Orte kennt.

I had the brie sandwich (vegetarian) while my friends tried the quiche, BLT, and the croque monsieur. We also got 2 kinds of cakes. I wish we were able to try their high tea, but we weren’t really willing to pay the 26 pounds…
The sandwich was very good, though I wish they’d had warm meals instead of pre-​made things.
Cute shop, good food, but very expensive.

I loved the décor here and the little nooks and crannies downstairs. The food I had was good but a tad expensive. I would come back to meet a friend here though, as I think the location and ambience are spot on. Maybe the staff could be a little better informed about the choices available but all in all, a super cute spot!

Oh me oh my, the cupcakes are just divine!
I saw this place on a weekend walk and looking through the classy window displays I saw tray of cupcakes and knew I would be back with my co-​worker.
The interior of the place is very minimalistic, but warm. The glass case up front held an abundance of gorgeous looking desserts, but it was a mission for cupcakes that brought me here.
We selected the toffee, lemon, and raspberry cupcakes. All of the cakes were moist and the raspberry and lemon cakes had actual raspberries and cream in them. The toffee frosting was nice, it had a hint of coffee. The raspberry frosting again was nice, but I could have done with a little more raspberry flavour and a little less sugar. My número uno favourite one was the lemon. The frosting had a great balance of tang and sweetness and I probably could have eaten another one… except that I will be bouncing around the walls in 10 mins from all the sugar!
If I am ever in Covent Garden and feel like tea and a pastry, I will be here in a heartbeat.

A gem! This was so cute, we just had to go in… the desserts looked sooo yummy!
Okay –so the décor is kinda feminine– but that didn’t stop several big fellas from coming in with their lady-​friends & having a nice lunch, or spot of tea. It was actually my husband who saw BB’s first & wanted to have a healthy lunch there… Yep! Even in the midst of all those delicious calories, you can actually have a very nutritious meal!
We ordered the goat cheese & spinach quiche, with a fresh squeezed OJ for him, and a mozzarella & tomato sandwich with organic cranberry drink for her. The quiche came with a great side salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber with a vinaigrette… Simple but also simply delicious. My baquette sandwich was very generous & was accompanied by a little side plate of veggie chips –yummy! My organic cranberry juice was FABULOUS! I had never seen this brand before — but plan to go back to BB’s soon & have this again!
We washed everything down with a lovely pot of Earl Grey Tea in a gorgeous china teapot & 2 wonderful bone china teacups & saucers!
The atmosphere was very relaxing –almost soothing. Everyone spoke quietly –it was an oasis of calm despite being almost full. Our orders were taken promptly & pleasantly. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time … We were enjoying ourselves so much that I was happy that my order didn’t come absolutely immediately.
Believe it or not –we were actually so full from our meal & tea that we didn’t have any room for dessert –altho I did stroll up to the pastry case & ogled all the scrumptious choices!
Also –this place was spotlessly clean! The WC was a bit of a hike… down the stairs & curving around the turns, but I found it ok!
We plan to go back & have tea & a treat.
I would HIGHLY recommend this establishment! :)

From the outside, this place catches your eye. The place is spacious and they have a nice variety of desserts. It’s a lovely place to stop by and have some tea.
