Haven Bistro and Bar

When stuck for a place to eat that is nice, classy, but not stuffy, this might be the place for you. It’s a bit pricey, but not overly so. The food, service, and atmosphere are all delightful. For only £16 there is a great 2 course set menu. Definitely a place worth returning to.

I’ve been here several times for client lunches, a few for personal visits and even had a staff party here. The food is never a let down and the steak is always fantastic. Even at Christmas when the place was packed, the service and quality of food was exceptional. Bar staff can always knock you up a cocktail and even happy to advise when you give them a list of random ingredients that you like! I am going back again in a few weeks for my besties birthday dinner and am looking forward to it. A rare gem in this neck of the woods. A reliable place that you don’t have to second guess. Highly recommended. It can be a tad pricey though so don’t think a tenner will buy you a night out.

Last Friday I had a night out with some girl friends — on a recommendation we went to the Haven. I was told it was a fun, friendly place and somewhere you could feel at ease with a group of girls. This was certainly true. We were made very welcome by all the staff and the food and atmosphere were terrific. The evening was a great success — and I highly recommend the sausage and mash and the Mohitos were the best I have had.

This place always looked cute as we drove by, but last night we tried it out and I have never had a worse experience. It started out ok. The wine was nice and the apricot bread was interesting. I grew up next to the ocean and love oysters, so I ordered five as a starter. The first one almost made me sick. It tasted foul and my partner could see the disgust all over my face. I politely told the waiter that I did not want them. He went to get his manager and when her returned, he said the oysters were fine and asked in a patronising manner whether I had ever tried oysters before. He left the plate of disgusting oysters in front of me, told me I had to pay for all of them (even the ones I did not eat) and he walked off. I had to wave down a waiter to take them away from me. At this point, I didn’t want to be there. We asked for our bill, canceled the rest of our meal and paid the check, even including the foul oysters. As we were walking out, I was informed that the owner was there. We approached him and tried to explain to him the situation, hoping to leave the restaurant with a more pleasant taste in our mouths. Surprisingly, he was worse than the manager; He shouted over us, would not let us talk, told us that everything was perfect and that sometimes they take food back, but would not explain why our situation was different. I could not believe the way he was talking to us. I cannot believe that this restaurant is in business.
One of the worst customer experiences I have ever had the misfortune to endure.

I have been to the Haven twice now. The first visit was around lunch time as I was waiting for a friend. I sat at the back where they have a few large sofa’s and ordered of all things — a tea. It came with a separate milk jug, pot of tea and sugar bowl on a tray, nice!
My second visit I sat outside as I had my bike with me. I ordered a virgin colada. It was delicious and creamy.
This place is always busy during the evening and has an extensive array of cocktails and an excellent food menu. Very exquisite place, I highly recommend it.

I’ve had a nice cup of tea in Haven, on the upper level seated on the couch. I like this pub because it is very modern.
I can’t honestly comment on the Alchol because it’s not my thing. I had an outdoor lunch here once, a greek salad and a tomato juice, after a strenous bike ride. The service was good and I was able to put my bike near the table.
I walk past here most nights, and their always seems to be a smartly dressed crowd, hanging around and having drinks. I may come here one night and have a cranberry juice and listen to the pianist (they offer a piano bar as well). Haven is one of the most fashionable places in this area and you can see why.

I went there yesterday 6^th August 08 and it was great. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and she loved it. The food was great and the service was top class. If you want a nice evening with a loved one then this is the place to go. Take your wallet as a main course costs approx £17.50.

This venue on Whetstone High Street is kind of special. It’s basically a two-​in-​one type of thing, with half the place being a restaurant and the other half a classy bar. The restaurant serves quality english food, with an especially good Sunday roast that’s quite reasonable. The bar is a great place to hire out for birthdays or special occasions. I’ve been to a 21^st and a 60^th birthay here, so I guess it’s good for all ages!
