The recently opened and growing Beany Green café chain is definitely going up my favourite cafes as of late. This particular café, due to its location next to the canal at the back of Sheldon Square is perfect for your weekend coffee and brunch needs. You will not only find delicious food made with quality fresh ingredients, but also good coffee, friendly staff and a nice view. What is more, the area is less busy in the weekend so there’s plenty of space to sit and relax. The desserts are pretty tasty as well, especially the brownies and the cake with marshmallows. Definitely recommend having a look at this when you’re in the area.

Small chain of Australian café’s renowned for their banana bread, which I’m still yet to try. You could easily miss this place as there is no signs, just some banana deck chairs out front. Inside it feels a bit like a warehouse, a bit sparse with uncomfy seating scattered about, the staff were a bit unfriendly too.

Very nice coffe place on Regents Canal, run by friendly Aussies. The café is very funky and has a great relax feel to it. Fab for a nice sunny day. Plus only a stone throw from Paddington station. Different food options, some great cakes but not the best salads. Coffee could be better.

Great coffee and food. I enjoyed their Salmon Royale and their freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff are heaps friendly and always smiling. Could make this place my regular.

Cool independent coffee spot in Paddington(not many of these). Flat white and banana bread were both great. Definitely worth seeking out.

Love this place! Artisanal coffees and food. Great smooth lattes and amazing organic chicken wraps! Staff are friendly and it’s rarely overrun with people so always possible to get a table. Highly recommend!

Meh. Surly unsmiling staff, mediocre food, unimpressive flat white, no toilets(they send you to the Starbucks around the corner). Had hoped for better given the positive reviews.

This has been my second visit, I made a special journey! There’s something about this appendix of Regents Canal that reminds me of Melbourne(don’t ask me why, it’s just one of these weird things), so having an Aussie café pop up here seems almost logical. It’s really good to see this negleced part of town come into its own. I’m always trying to lure visitors who stop over in Paddington out of the station’s back doors — a whole new world opens up, so much more exciting than the chain stores within the station itself. Beany Green is such a nice surprise, and it’s good to see this independent café buzz with office workers — a much healther choice than Subway or Starbucks and quicker and cheaper than the pub at the other end of the same block. For £5 you get a substantial meal, either a deliciously unusual wrap(the tortillas are green and tasty, and I had a lovely spicy chicken filling the other day) or a generous serving of salads(five delicious varieties to choose from, all fresh and raw — true five a day, and all in one go!). Lemon infused water is available for free and there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the canal. Definitely the best value lunch I have had all week! I tried to ignore the sweet temptations on offer, but now that I know they are there I may well find an excuse to return for an afternoon treat some weekend. I hope Beany Green is here to stay — such a treat!

Beany Green has much to endear me to it: friendly Aussie staff, an ex-industrial space given a wholesome feel by a tempting array of salads, cakes and other snacks, wifi and Aussie coffee in name at least. Its location, on Regents Canal right by Paddington Station, makes it a perfect place to grab some nourishment before catching a train. I wasn’t blown away by the flat white I had, making this review something of a work in progress and subject to further polishing when I next find myself in the area. But I’ll definitely be returning, most likely when I next head to Paddington.
