Wetherspoon: Free House

Wetherspoons as a chain, and this one in particular, exemplify all that is wrong with the modern pub-​going experience. The service is poor, the atmosphere is non-​existent, the staff are incompetent and discourteous, and the clientèle wouldn’t look out of place in the Mos Eisley Cantina.
Yes, it’s dirt cheap. But do you really care that much about saving a few pennies, if your experience is this miserable? Personally I’d happily pay double the price of their carbonated swill to drink in a decent pub where you can have a pleasant conversation or two, and make eye contact with strangers without fearing physical violence.
Avoid like the plague.

Wetherspoons is a large pub, situated in Liverpool City Centre, near to the bus station and the train station.
There are many different options at the bar from soft drinks to a good selection of lager. They also have well stocked fridges with a huge variety of bottled beers, ciders, alcopops and many more.
There are a large number of seats within the pub within booths, at tables around the pub and at the comfy sofas. It is usually easy to get a seat, even during the busier times.
The food menu is extensive and offers a wide range of dishes for every taste, appetite and budget. The food is always of a high quality and is served quickly, even when the pub is busy.
The staff are friendly and helpful and seem keen to provide a good service to all customers. Its a great place to meet up with friends to start a night out.

Out of all Wetherspoons in Liverpool, the Free House in city centre’s Great Charlotte Street is one of my favourites because it has a traditional pub atmosphere to it in a pleasant environment. It attracts people of many ages and it’s not just men that go there for a quick pint, it’s families and small groups that take advantage of their cheap and cheerful menu that’s on offer.
All Wetherspoons serve the same meals but at the Free House, I believe that they serve the best full English breakfast since I’ve had no problems at all with the service and food which is always cooked to a good standard. No burnt toast, overcooked sausages or undercooked eggs during my experiences, unlike one other certain branch (even when I’d requested for food not to be over or undercooked); this was at The Welkin by the way, which can be a bit hit and miss.
Overall, the Free House is a decent gastropub and a top choice amongst the many competitive ones around. I would definitely recommend it for breakfast or lunch at least with a couple of drinks and friends.
