I’m not a big fan of the Wetherspoon’s and Lloyd’s franchises at the best of times — although it’s a bonus that Wetherspoon’s doesn’t have music when you consider the appalling selection that they have on here at Lloyd’s. Our visit here was not one of the best pub experiences. The tables were very grubby and sticky and everytime I tried to order a pint of one of their guest ales I was told that they had just run out — had they out stayed their welcome?! The nachos were also very disappointing, I am aware that they are one of Mexico’s most devious cons as they are just a big bowl of value Doritos but often they come covered in a healthy portion of cheese and dips.

Lloyds No.1 bar is another of Wetherspoon branches in the city centre. This one in particular is not really a favourite of mine due to its darkness inside which gives it a gloomy feel and even more dull atmoshphere on a winter’s day. The inside actually appears a cross between a fancy bar and a pub. It does also host a family only area for those who want to spend quality time with children distraction free, which I think is a good idea. There is a nice outdoor seating area but unless you want noise and traffic polluiton, I wouldn’t bother. As for the food and service, it is just fairly average compared to other Wetherspoons around; sometimes it can be hit and miss depending on how busy it is.
