I’ve always loved this place as I’ve never had a bad meal here. The lamb shank and house rose wine is superb.

Jalons is fantastic, a classy restaurant which looks after its’ customers with the utmost care and attention. The décor is excellent and extremely smart and modern and you feel comfortable and relaxed at all times here. The staff are über professional they give you the right amount of time to decide on your food and generally just pay the utmost attention to your every need. Jalons has live music every evening and this is something most restaurants cannot compete with and it really makes the whole evening an ultra experience. This is something that Jalons really has in its’ favour and it is simply about more than just food everything is done excellently. Jalons is not cheap but it is worth the money and this is the kind of place you would come to, for a smart meal not just an establishment you pop into to fill your face. The actual tastes here are sensational and the pan fried pork fillet I chose for my main is some of the best meat I have tasted anywhere in Liverpool. Jalons is upmarket and worth every penny you spend, it is just a surprise to see it in a student area as it would be at home in the classiest areas of the city

Jalons Restaurant is literally always packed. My boyfriend lives opposite and whenever we walk by it is crammed to the windows! Anyway, I can sort of see why, it does offer some nice cuisine and great live entertainment. And occasionally upon visiting you can bump into half the cast of Hollyoaks in there. Not sure if they count as ‘celebrities.‘ Food is varied, I ordered the oak-smoked salmon and it was divine(I’m a real fish-fan). For dessert, choice was limited, but after selecting the traditional apple crumble, I was pretty content. A nice place to visit.

Jalons is usually packed 7 days a week, with the live entertainment every day and yummy international food on the menu, I’m not surpised. It isn’t your obvious first choice due to it’s location — it is quite easy to miss and just drive straight past. The décor is fresh and colourful with a small but stylish bar area. The live entertainment is often in the form of pianists and guitarists, but I have heard that you’re likely to spot a local celebrity. The menu is great with a wide range of foods. The price is good before 7pm when they offer an early bird menu where you can grab a starter and main for £12.95. I wouldn’t say it’s ideal for children but the chef is very flexible and will create something for you.

When my parents were still insisting on dragging me for dinner for my birthday, Jalons was one of the places I was fortunate enough to be dragged to. Having got there before either of them, I ordered a glass of Sambuca(no love, not a shot, a glass) and sat sipping whilst waiting for the impending doom. To be honest, the night went downhill from there. Once the rentals had turned up, we were seated at our table and a fair bit of fuss was made over me as it was my birthday. I gritted my teeth and smiled politely. After another sambuca the wine came, and we ordered our food. I can’t remember what I had but knowing me it was probably chicken, and it was lovely. I’m not one to leave stuff on my plate usually, but I am a slow eater. This was gone in record time. Unfortunately someone cocked up the dessert otherwise it would’ve been a perfect meal. I have a feeling my mum organised for a cake to be brought out, and I had told her that I don’t like chocolate cake(yes, I know, how disgusting of me). What came out of the kitchen with all the staff singing around it? A WHOLE chocolate cake. I then had to pretend to eat some of it while everyone watched, and then asked for it to be packed up and forgotten in the kitchen please thank you very much. To top things off, we had champagne, and I’m afraid to say that at this point my stomach started churning. However, I managed to get through the whole experience with grace and dignity before legging it back to my flat and hugging the toilet. There is live music every night at Jalons these days, and it is a thoroughly pleasant place to go for a meal. Just not with my parents and a tummy lined with Sambuca!
