Really really awful customer service. Went in on a very cold winter evening as had a little wait for a train(it was far too cold to be outside) to be confronted by two of the most hostile baristas I’ve ever come across. My husband and I were told to sit outside as they were about to clean the high bar area — other customers were still in the area, eating and the two tables inside were taken up. We explained that we were there because it was cold and when an indoor seat became available we would take it. The very angry barista shouted at us, and continued to call us and complain about us to another customer and his colleague throughout our stay(even though we did move out of the way to sit at a table and there were still people in the area he said he wanted to clean when we left). This all took place at 18:20pm and it was noted that the closing time was 20:00pm. Totally unacceptable to close off the majority of seats more than an hour and half before closing time and treat paying customers with such contempt. The man was so aggressive I really wouldn’t have been surprised if he had been violent. People like him do nothing to help liverpudlians’ dreadful reputation.

Craftily located next to the ticket barrier at Lime Street station, this Costa Coffee seems to be a hit with commuters. The service is fast, the coffee is consistently strong and bitter and there’s usually a good mix of muffins, sandwiches and panninis to choose from. Even better, you can take away or sit in and watch the other commuters trying to juggle coffee, train tickets and brief-cases. Most people seem to have perfected the art but there’s always one or two that look like they’re about to slip on a banana skin!

Really nice café to enjoy your coffee and cake(or two) before you rush to catch your train. Delicious coffee and a lovely display of sweet and savoury snacks. The seating is mostly high bar stool/chair type with a high central table running the length of the café and another table/ledge beside the window. Seems a fairly friendly branch of Costa and well looked after — everything spotless.
