Do Caffe Nero serve ‘the best espresso this side of Milan’? In my humble opinion, I think that badge of honour should go to Union Coffee, Monmouth or Lavazza. What this Caffe Nero is good for however, is providing commuters with a hot and strong drink for miserable autumn and winter train journeys. For those that find their coffee too bitter and burnt, they also sell tea, hot chocolate, muffins, pastries and delicious caramel wafers.

I just thought that these guys tucked away behind a tiny counter in the corner of Liverpool’s Lime Street Station deserved a quick mention. Almost certainly if anyone is going to reccomend a coffe shop it will be one of the millions around the city centre including some of Nero’s bigger, air conditioned stores playing their soothing mix of jazz and classical tunes. Here in what is essentially a cupboard with a roasting hot coffee machine are a copule of baristas who will make you boss coffee with a smile — something I have noticed that myself and anyone else trying to catch a train at an ungodly hour is not capable of doing — and they will do this with such efficiency and skill as if to know that you are only seconds from missing your train because you haven’t woken up yet! Good work guys.
