After a couple of crazy hours shopping on a Christmas girlie shop, we decided to head for a light supper in Liverpool. Atmosphere was warm and friendly, didn’t take long for the waiter to come. Food came quickly I had chicken with Brie. It was on the lunch menu at £9.95 not too bad. Chicken was over powered by the Brie still nice though and it came with chips. They had a piano playing in the background which was nice. The restaurant was busy but the service was quick. I wouldn’t recommend for a light lunch not much variety more of a main dinner type of place. I think with the right person it could be a nice ‘date’ place. Location is in the centre and easy to get to. I would recommend coming here for dinner and cocktails with a nice fella ;) or partner.

This is a pretty good restaurant. There is a pleasant atmosphere throughout, despite it often being busy, and the décor is interesting and functional. It has the feel of a well kept pub without actually really being one. It is certainly more geared towards the dining experience. I’ve been here a few times and the food has always been excellent. There is a really good 2for1 breakfast deal and the sunday lunches never disappoint. Today’s experience was no different. The menu is varied and, though it can be a little pricey at times, I always leave satisfied. The service is of an equally good quality, even during busy periods.

We had one hour before our dinner reservation next door, who haven’t got a bar yet. We decided to come to Browns and have a drink– Rose Gardens and a glass of Shiraz. Rose garden is a gin based cocktail with very sweet notes since they have rosehip and rhubarb syrup in it. It’s a very sweet cocktail for me, and it overcame the bitterness from the gin which was something I usually really like. It’s also a very strong cocktail. I know I am not great on alcohol. A friend claimed its one of the strongest cocktail she had had in over 15 years drinking experience. It tasted well nice but it’s kindly up to our heads for the whole evening. It’s a very busy bar and restaurant, and there were comfortable sitting areas to sit down and drink in the front part of the restaurant. There are thoughtful socks on the tables for people charging their phones or laptop if necessary.

In terms of décor, atmosphere, drinks and food Browns is probably a 4.5 But the service is horrific. Actually, that’s not true, the service if you get service is fine. The issue is that the hostess will pretty much seat you and then ignore you. You can be waiting 20+ minutes at the bar with not even a hint of acknowledgement from the bar staff. I’ve been here about 4 times now. The first was a great visit, bottle of champagne in between Christmas shopping, some small plates(all delicious) and friendly albeit a little slow service. The three subsequent visits really suffered. My husband and I sat at the bar and watched for maybe 15 minutes while the(very busy) bartenders walked past us time and time again without so much as «I’m sorry for the wait, we’ll be with you shortly». The last time we were there was on a moderately busy Friday night. The restaurant was maybe only ½ full(it was early). We sat at the bar again and the same thing happened. After a long wait we got up to leave, the girl who’d seated us watched us get up and walk out. No «Is everything OK?» or «Let me find a waitress for you» It’s a real shame as Browns is in a great central location, perfect if you’re shopping in Liverpool One and want a drink/something to eat but they really need to add more waiters/bar staff.

What gorgeous place. We only popped in for a drink and enjoyed this venue. The menu looks extensive, the staff have a professional approach. Oh to be able to chart your mobile when the battery is nearly dead — #grateful. Next time I pop up to Liverpool will definately have a meal there.
