At the start of the year I thought Ca Va was the best thing since sliced bread, but I simply grew out of it just like all the other commercialised bars on concert square. Although I do like the interior décor and their cheap tequila shots but the small space you’re in means it gets crowded very quickly on certain nights and the general atmosphere in here does bore me. However I can say this place is ok to stop for a few shots while passing through the town on a night out, but Ca Va is not one of my favourites.

Dive bar? Yes. Ladies toilets without seats? Well, yes. The only place on a Liverpool night out where you don’t need a perm and a mighty fine pair of scousebrows? It’s on the list. After a day at the races, we hustled to Bar Ca Va as our first stop in Liverpool. The atmosphere was relaxed and there were no airs and graces — arriving at around 10pm on a Saturday, and it was hardly packed to the rafters. The upstairs bar area was closed, but downstairs started to fill up quite quickly, but never felt too crowded. Posters plaster the walls so, if you’re not a tequila drinker, grab a pint or cocktail and try to see how many bands you recognise. I have never been a tequila lover — until now. It’s going to become a drink of choice soon enough. Hedging my bets, I ordered the peach flavour and drank it down. It was delicious! Lick the salt, take your shot, bite the lemon and the flavours actually do come alive. Tequila is now more than something you’re handed and drink before realising what it is; it’s something with depth.

An excellent bar to start or spend the night, this small cosy bar hosts over 20 different flavours of tequila and several other unusual spirits. Friendly staff, comfortable couches and an eclectic selection of music is always on hand in CaVa, definitely a favourite of mine!

Amazing tequila bar. £1 shots, soooo many random flavours(Including rhubarb crumble, baked beans, etc). Even when it’s crowded of a night time it’s still a comfortable place to drink and you always manage to meet new people(And in a lot of cases only ever remember them because of the photo’s you have of them). Proper laugh as a pre-club bar or great to stay drinking in there all night.

Nice place 2 get a few cheap shots of rocket fuel. There are many different flavours of tequila available. Some quite enticing, some very strange(i.e. baked bean flavour). Nothing beats a few tequila shots to accompany a cold bottle of Desperados.

Bar Ca Va is situated on Wood Street, in the heart of the city centre. If you go there in the evenings it can be a little crowded, making it a bit of a mission to squeeze through the punters to get to the bar. There is a huge array of tequila’s available here and some of the flavours are a little interesting, such as baked bean flavour. I have never been adventurous enough to try baked bean tequila but I have tried some of their more conventional flavours. My favourite area of Bar Ca Va is upstairs. Here you will find some very comfy sofas grouped around tables, which are good for relaxing with friends. The toilets are a little bit basic and are in need of refurbishment. Some of the doors don’t close properly and those that do take a little force to open again. The décor is mixed and has a bohemian feel. Upstairs the walls are covered in movie posters which are interesting to have a look at, if the lighting is good enough, which is rarely is. If you can find a corner or get yourself a space upstairs this is a good place for sitting down and chatting with friends. It can get a bit stuffy if you stay here too long.

The Tequila bar, its’ not well decorated and its not that cheap but for drunken students the selection of lethal tequila shots is the main attraction. If you are wondering around the concert square area and your not quite at your peak state of drunken idiocy then head to ca va and a tequila slammer will sort you out. The only problem is the people who tend to go to far and therefore the toilets often smell decidedly of vomit with urine thrown in there also. The selection of tequilas ranges as far and wide as baked bean flavour but as far as I can tell they all have the same lethal kick which induces the very vomit I’ve just discussed. On the whole Ca Va is a dive bar and does not pretend to be otherwise its’ good for inducing heady drunkenness and not much else.

A crowded pit of a tequila bar, the Ca Va was probably the size of Carnegie Hall before the layers of posters built up over the years, shrinking it to the grotto it has become. It’s easy to hate this place for multiple reasons. Firstly, at the weekend it seems to have the entire population of Luxembourg milling about inside it. The toilets are never cleaned and it can take ages to get served if you don’t have the right shirt or an ugly face. And yet, I can’t bring myself to give it three or less stars. It stands out as a unique provider of cheap drunkeness and crippling hangovers that got me through my late teens without style. Plus, the doormen will ID everyone in the queue before waving me through like an A-lister. Beardophilic bouncers? God bless them.

Ca va? Oui, tres bien merci, et tu? A French name it might have but it’s tequila you’ll find here in abundance. With many varieties and at a mere £1 a shot it’s no doubt many people leave here slurring the lyrics to the song of the same name by Terrorvision. That was in the top 10 in my schooldays, I’ll have you know. It’s a great starter bar for a night out. The shots are bound to get you very merry very fast, but rather than being rowdy it’s remarkably chilled out. It can get rather crowded but if you get there handy enough and commandeer your seats you shouldn’t have a problem. As for the tequilas, there is literally every flavour you could think of. Play Russian Roulette with your friends and the chilli variety, cosy up to the rhubarb crumble and gawp in awe at the baked beans flavour. Yes. Baked beans. Sundays at Ca Va are particularly fun, with an open mike night involving plenty of well-meant heckling. All in all it’s cheap, it’s got a great atmosphere and there’s even some live music to be had on occasion. Excellent, it really is. I’d go back in a heartbeat. #Oh Tequila, it makes me happy, oh tequila, it feela fiiiiine…#

Right, I feel as if this hole has had a bit of a slamming — honestly there was no pun intended there it just came to me — from other reviewers and I for one won’t stand up for it but will fight a cause. Except this place for what it is — a drinking hole and suddenly it doesn’t seem so bad. There is not enough room beyond the bar for comfy seats or cosy little dens to hide in. On a quiter night it’s the type of place you could imagine Charles Bukowski slumped head first on the bar, teetering on a stool after succumbing to the cheap, abundance of hard liquor. On a busy night you probably wont see much, but I like the masses of peeling and fading film posters, gig flyers and prints that cover the walls almost like you can see the wear & tear from years of drinking. As a Tequila bar it works perfect, grungy and grimey it keeps you focused on the thing you are hear to do — drink and party. Many people hate Tequila, and I too am not its biggest fan but with a range of hundreds of flavours and makes there is always one for you.

Firstly, it’s a tequila bar. I hate tequila. I’m actually feeling queasy just thinking about it. Secondly, on a weekend this place is crammed so tightly with just about every person who is out for the night but decided to stop of for a cheeky shot or 5 before the rest of their tequila-soaked night of debauchery continues, that it seems more of a revolving door pit-stop for those wanting a fast-track to paraletic. On the up swing it’s only £1 a shot, hence the mad rush and 6 deep wade to the bar, and they have pretty much every flavour of tequila you can think of, some of which I would rather eat the entire contents of a salt cellar than drink, as they really don’t sound tasty! You will never find a seat in this place unless you’re there exceptionally early, but if you don’t want to start out your evening as a sardine then I would suggest going elsewhere or just being very swift.

This has to be one of the cheapest shot bars in town, and no offence to the place but it could do with a bit of a scrub! The tequila shots are £1. Bargain. Can’t complain. Or so you would think! I must say I have to complain, baked bean tequila shots is not my idea of fun. Although saying that, you can’t go for a night out down Wood Street without trying one. One of my favourites is the chilli — a bit different but is yum after a few drinks. I suggest getting to Bar Ca Va early as later on it can be full of drunken sweaty scousers — not plesant! You will also find yourself standing for the night as all the comfy sofas were bagged hours ago! This is the sort of bar where you have a few dodgy shots before moving on for the rest of your night out. One major downside is the toilets — in some serious need of a clean.

Pronounced ‘sah vah’, like the French, not ‘car var’, like the drink. It bugs me when I overhear people saying«let’s go to bar carvar». Anyway. A shot bar like no other, this one has every flavour tequila you can think of. And I’m talking baked bean flavour tequila. For £1. Unfortunately, the very smell of tequila makes me feel ill, so while everyone else is knocking back god-know’s-what, I stick to my trusty sambuca. This used to be a laid-back bar, but last time I went on a Friday night there were bouncers on the door and some scally-looking DJ ensconced in the box playing music I didn’t quite recognise. It’s probably down to the fact that I’m an old fuddy-duddy, but I’m sure this used to be a novelty bar where everyone was friendly and the vibe was chilled. Now it seems that it has fallen victim to large groups of loutish people whose primary aim is to get as wasted as they can as quickly as possible. Yes, I know I sound like my mum, but that just doesn’t seem a good night out to me.

Cheap grubby studenty bar serving tequila shots for £1. They come in various flavours(the chilli one is excellent, the baked bean one should never be tested no matter how many you’ve had before it). You need to get there early as after 8ish it can be hard to find a seat and after 9ish you’re wrestling with hundreds of other sweaty would-be drunken fools to get to the bar. Best to meet here early, have a few drinks, and move on before anyone needs to use the appallingly grim toilets.

This is my favorite bar to start out at in Liverpool! The tequila is only £1 per shot, so you can order quite a few while still watching your money. As a poor international student, this is a great place for me. It does, however, get VERY loud and packed as the night goes on but if you go on a week night or early, it’s great. I usually don’t have a problem finding a seat.

This is a nice place to visit towards the beginning of the night trying the chilli tequila in particular. I tried it and barely tasted any other drink the rest of the night. Good prices with good live music being played most nights i have been in there at least, a good duo performing a wide variety of tracks taking requests which they actually do perform should you ask nicely. Definately worth a try once if not only for the tequila on offer.

My mate saidlike Tequlia don’t you? Love it I replied. Next thing I knew I was staring at a wall like Revolution’s menu of vodka shots, but this time in Tequlia bottles. Heaven! Wow! Amazing! I want that one! They all raced through my mind before I ordered 30 shots between the three of us. I was forced to have 15 of them as I was a tourist, but I will be back now Qype has helped me find the place on a map. I didnt think I would ever be able to find this place again as I didnt remember the name or locational on the Liverpool circuit. I had noticed the place was a bit shacklike from the outside and a bit rough around the edges, but you don’t come here for big lounge sofa, you come here for shots and cocktails. Mine’s a coffee tequlia, the perfect hangover drink has been invented.

A night in Liverpool really wouldn’t be complete without a visit to this great bar! This bar specialises in Tequila with a compendium of flavours from Baked Bean to Cola-Cube. If you’re mad enough to want something a bit stronger they stock many varying strengths of Absinthe. There is also a well stocked bar with many draught beers and your usual selection of bottles and other spirits. The music at Ca Va always seems to be very good, with high quality DJ’s mostly pumping out funk, latin and retro beats. This bar is a must on a night out.

Bar Ca Va is one of a number of bars on Wood Street, but what makes it stand out from the crowd is its warm atmosphere and extensive supplies of flavoured tequila! Whilst the tequila might not be to everyone’s tastes, Ca Va offers far more and is a great place to catch live music on one of the many open mic nights. Despite being called«Ca Va,» the bar has a very Mexican feel to it and offers many a bottled beer as well as the aforementioned tequila. I’ve been on many nights out here and i’ve never had a bad time — it never seems too busy but always has a goof buzz about the place. The music played is usually indie and alternative and fits in with the prominent student vibe about Bar Ca Va. The members of staff are mainly students and they’re all extremely friendly! You may be tempted to walk past its rather naff entrance… don’t! Go in and enjoy the delights of Bar Ca Va!
