Ibrox Subway Station

Not much to say really! The station itself has had a much needed facelift in more recent years that earns it an A-​OK rating. It was a bit dilapidated before, and did need some shining up.
As for it’s location, well, you know what you’re getting into, and woe betide you if you don’t.
Don’t even DREAM of using this on a matchday if you’re an away supporter, or even a home supporter with a fear of crush situations or claustrophobia. The pub across from the station is… an experience all in it’s own as well.
It is what it is. It’s useful if you need it.

This is very near my house, so plus points for that! I pretty much travel everywhere by tube so it’s handy. Haven’t set foot on a bus in ages! At the time of writing its one of the stations that has completed its refurbishment so its nice, airy and clean. There’s a handy newsagents next door if you need a paper or chocolate before travelling.

Who would have thought that Glasgow has the third oldest subway system in the world. With Ibrox it get’s you from a — b it’s only when you walk out of the subway are you think what a s*it hole, l expected to see something out of a western movie but this was worse. Very dirty area.

During quieter periods, Ibrox Underground is fine to commute through during the day. The staff are friendly, it’s big enough to accomodate a small number of people and it gets you from A to B.
At night, be safe. I’m not going to play into scaremongering and my God, people do that too often when it comes to Glasgow. Stats show you’re not really 100% safe anywhere. But saying that, there are safer places than hanging around an underground at night. Given its backstreet location, I would say be careful.
During match days, avoid (unless you’re going to a game, but even then I’d try other transport options). When you’re swamped under a sea of blue, this underground can suddenly seem like it’s shrunk to a tenth of its size. As Paul C said, it’s ill equipped to deal with match days due to its structure, and although security are there to aid you it’s still a bit of a rampage to get out. Rangers play round the corner from this stop and tend to take over the tube all around the line when the match is over. Look «The Bouncy» up on youtube. If you don’t fancy joining in, take the bus or walk!
It’s unlikely anything bad’s gonna happen to you, and warnings will come up to notify you of busy times. Just be prepared for a bit of hustle!

Absolutely unbearable on match days, this station is ill-​equipped to handle the avalanche of supporters that tumble towards it when Rangers are at home.
Indeed, given the size of the queues, I’ve found it can even be quicker walking home (I live in the West End) than waiting for the queues to go down.
Otherwise, this station is a useful resource for Bellahouston Park, although undoubtedly one of the grimmest on the Glaswegian sub-​crawl.

At matchdays Ibrox station is absolutely heaving with Rangers supporters, so don’t even think of getting on here around 2.30 or 5 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon. The overcrowding is now alleviated though, thanks to the stewards who control the crowds.
Being just a few minutes round the corner from Ibrox Stadium, the tube stop is ideal not only for Rangers games but for the club’s ticket office and JJB megastore. It also seems to be the nearest station to the retail park in Govan which has a big Asda superstore, only if you fancy a windy stroll up the road for ten minutes though.
Unfortunately though due to the severely run-​down nature of Copland Road, the outside of the station is often a real hang-​out for the local jakeys during the week.

Right outside Ibrox Stadium, you can tell this was a purpose built station.
Fair enough, it can be used to access the local residential areas, or even the lovely Bellahouston Park (home to a dry-​ski centre and House for an Art Lover (A Charles Rennie MacKintosh designed house/​venue)), I can imagine that it is only ever popular on match days.

Ibrox, although normally one of the quieter stops, explodes with passengers on Rangers matchdays. If, however, you’re not a football yob, you can also easily access Bellahouston Park, which is great for a walk or a picnic on the one sunny day of the year.
Apart from this, there’s not really a lot to be seen, apart from the generic couple of pubs and a chippie. Perfect for the Subcrawl market.
