As they closed up early, someone from Café Puerto Rico recommended this place to us for similar food. Now, the reviews and feedback we got about Café Puerto Rico were fantastic, so we trusted their guidance. Right away the location of Mojitos felt like cruise ship row, waiting to trap unsuspecting cruisers. The location lacks the charm of Old San Juan, as you sit across from a huge parking garage on a busy street. I’m all for sacrificing a view for good food and drink, but this place definitely didn’t fit the bill. After slow service(even by island time standards) we quickly decided just to get a drink. I thought, judging by the name, I couldn’t go wrong with a mojito. Every drink I had in Old San Juan had been great so far, especially the mojitos. Sadly, after a long wait, we were disappointed with our drinks that only resembled a mojito in color. For a great mojito in Old San Juan try the Mezzanine at St. Germaine. Worth the walk for any cruisers. To be fair, we didn’t actually eat the food here. However, with so many amazing choices for great food, drinks, and service in Old San Juan, this spot is not worth trying again

The food here was ok I ordered the combo meal that came with two different types of pork, fried and one shredded with onions and a sauce. There was some kind of tamale that was supposed to have beef in it but it was nothing but mush I would not suggest getting it. Now the fried pork and the shredded pork was really yummy. I would try someplace else there are a lot of other places to eat at. Don’t get the fish it’s not good at all!!!

Ate here for lunch today ! We knew it was a good sign when the restaurant was packed, and with locals. I ate the pork Cubes with red beans and rice and Randy had the cod fish with plantains. I would have made the choice to switch dishes as I enjoyed the fish, but randy did as well ! Each dish came with a small salad on the side, that was ate last ! Try the sauces if you go. Both the salad dressing and the house sauce were tasty !

Wonderful little place in A strip of restaurants. Drink prices are reasonable. We both had the grouper which was done perfectly and it was obviously very fresh. Our waiter Was wonderful. Happy to explain any dish including how it was prepared and the spices used. We saw a lot of locals eating there, which tells me that your getting the real Puerto Rican food. It is not someplace you would go for a romantic evening. In the states I would compare it to the local place where you would go just to grab a bite to eat. Outdoor seating is available.

I was able to vacation in Puerto Rico with my children after 15 yrs. since the last time we were there, while visiting the Old San Juan we asked where we could go to have authentic food and was told about Mojito restaurant. We live in Los Angeles and there are no Puerto Rican restaurants so I wanted my children to have authentic Puerto Rican food and we were so excited about the food and of course the mojitos:) when we entered the restaurant there was a line of people waiting, I noticed the bar area to have empty seats so we walked up and sat at the bar. The bartender approached us and I asked if it was ok to sit at the bar to have food? She said to ask the hostess, I then checked with the hostess and she said very pleasantly«sure you can sit there» and even had another waiter bring us 3 menus and waters. We looked at the menu and were deciding what to order, I noticed the bartender making drinks so I waited to ask for our orders and drinks. When she was done she turned with her back to us, reached for the tip Jar on the bar and emptied it then started counting it! Did she not see the 3 of us right behind her?!! She then put all the bills together, put under the counter and put the change back in the jar, all this time Im patiently watching her and waiting for her to acknowledge us. she started to walk away when I called her to ask for drinks! She said«you know we are very busy and it will take you about 45 min to hour to get your food!» I asked her that long? and I had to translate all that to my kids cuz she spoke to me in Spanish, she answered me «yes that long so I think you can go somewhere else to eat.» I thought of asking for the manager and complain about all that but by then I had lost my appetite or even cared to eat there. I was so dumb founded and insulted by her, is this what this restaurant is famous for?! She was utmost unprofessional and rude. Its a shame all that hoopla we heard about the food and all was gone to hell by this bartender’s attitude! I wonder how many other people she has ran out of the restaurant with her nasty attitude? Maybe if you do go to this restaurant AVOIDSITTINGATTHEBAR!!!

Empleados incompetentes…

Awful food – ordered pechuga al criollo and got plain sautéed chicken with salsa from a can. Coffee tasted like dirt. Do not go here

This place is pretty much in the middle of a strip of restaurants — it’s hard to pick the best one out of all the options! We chose this one because our cabbie recommended it when I asked fora local joint. I was initially disappointed because of the number of tourists in this place, didn’t really see anyone local in here. But the food here was pretty good — I just hope that it’s a good representation of Puerto Rican cuisine because this is what I think it is now after having visited several restaurants and the menus looking the same. This restaurant isn’t cheap, so if you’re looking for budget eats or a hole in the wall, this isn’t it. The restaurant looks really nice but isn’t entirely functional. With all the hard surfaces noise really travels well, bounces off the walls, and goes straight into your ears. So to say the least this restaurant gets pretty noisy. But it’s cute décor, cute little bar area, it’s a little tight for seating, but it’s a super popular place. The prices seem to be on par with all the other restaurants on this strip. The service is friendly and nice, but it’s slow to get your food. And I’m not sure how organization happens, but you’ll see other people who came after you receive their food before you… It took about 45 minutes to get our first appetizer, which was fried cheese and beef turnovers. They both tasted really fresh and were both ~$ 8 per plate. 8 cheese blocks and 5 turnovers. The fried cheese squares were tasty dipped in its guava jam sauce, different from the typical rich sauces or tomato sauces you’ll see with fried cheese. The turnovers had buttery crusts and were great with the restaurant’s version of ketchup, which basically tasted like thousand island but richer. We also ordered beef steak with onions, fried chicken breast, Mojito’s Puerto Rican sampler(under entrees), and a fried pork mofongo. The yellow rice was delicious, much better than the white rice! The beef steak with onions was pretty tasty, they pound the beef steak from what I could tell which made the meat super tender. The onions were well done, not caramelized but definitely didn’t have the onion sting to it, it was just sweet and cooked through. The fried chicken was also pretty juicy, well pounded out, and perfectly fried. They lost me a little with the Puerto Rican sampler to be honest, and I didn’t think their fried pork was that great despite the cabbie’s recommendation. The pork was a bit overdone and overly fried. The mofongo was also okay, mashed but also a little tough, it wasn’t really up my alley and didn’t add much flavor to the dish. The salad dressing and the«ketchup» really helped tie everything together though — we left happy! There are so many restaurants in the area though that I’d probably keep trying new ones before I come back to this one. One of the better places we visited though.

Great food and mojitos in old San Juan! This place was recommended to us by some friends and it did not disappoint. The service is a little chaotic but someone will get you your drinks and food and bill… It just may be three different waiters:) The mojitos were fresh and tasty with a good amount of rum. The food was out of this world. All of it was good but I definitely recommend anything with the SKIRTSTEAK !!! It is some of the best steak I have ever had. You can get it alone or wrapped in mashed plantains which was the best thing we got. There homemade cilantro steak sauce and salad dressing is delicious, definitely give it a try. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful, cute place, great location.

The BEST Breaded Chicken, Chirrasco, Black Beans & Rice, Grouper and MOJITOS! And the BEST value for your money on Calle Recinto Sur. They renovated the bar area, where I love to dine with friends, and it looks even better. Their Chef has been a local favorite for many years by people who know flavorful food & drinks! Don’t hesitate, you can dress casually here, it’s a friendly local destination spot!

We came on a recommendation from a friend. Down and dirty. Food and Sangria were great. Our service sucked. We got beef empanadas and a sampler plate. Food was amazing and authentic. Service was nice but super slow.

My wife and I only had 30 minutes left in our stopover in San Juan, and found ourselves in front of Mojito’s and a few other options. We ducked into Mojito’s, sat at the bar, and boy did we luck out. The staff whipped up 2 amazing mojito’s, and we ordered some mashed plantains and fish turnovers. While the inside wasn’t the fanciest place, we definitely loved the staff, the plantains were very unique and the mahi-mahi turnovers were incredible! Definitely recommend this place when in San Juan…

Walked in here and was a little turned off by the size and tacky décor, but the food was amazing. We ordered a full sized pitcher of the sangria and it was delicious and enough for almost 10 full size glasses! We all split the ropa vieja, shrimp mofongo, and beef steak with onions. It was all great. The mofongo wasn’t the best I’ve had, it left a funny after taste in my mouth but everything else, including the service was amazing. We ordered the flan and chocolate cake for dessert and they were both great. The price point was right on; three entress, a pitcher of sangria, and two desserts for just over 100 dollars. Can’t beat it.

We found Mojito’s on our trip here 6 years ago and came back the following year several times with our son. This year we decided to come back with our oldest daughter and tried a few other places. As Puerto Ricans ourselves, our daughter was used to the food made at home or by other family members. Mojito’s was her favorite spot to eat. On this trip we have eaten there 3 times for dinner and once for desert. The place is rather small and most would consider a hole in the wall, but it really is a diamond in the rough. Every time we have been there we haven’t waited more than 5 minutes for a table. For those that say the staff doesn’t speak English, this is false. My daughter doesn’t speak a lick of Spanish yet was able to hold a conversation with several of the staff members. For those that say that the food is over priced, they should try eating at places like Raices or Barachina, those are way more expensive for the amount of food you get. Mojito’s food hands down the most quantity for the price. This trip we have had the Mofongito’s de Amarillos, Mofongo con Currasco, Carne Frita, Bistec Ensabollado, Ropa Vieja, Bistec al la Crillola, Pechuga de Pollo con Aijillo, Currasco, Flan and Sopa de Platano oh and can’t forget a Mojito or 2. None have been a let down and we would recommend you try them all. Buen provecho!

We found this place by accident actually. We were staying at a hotel nowhere near here and asked one of the staff their favorite spot to eat. Hence, after one hour, wrong directions and not being able to find it and having two hungry, tired, grumpy kids we opted for the closest restaurant. The atmosphere is low key, but the food is slamming and the price is right. Our waitress was a doll. We ordered a bisteak with onions, rice and beans and a salad. oh, yeah, and most important, mojitos. Goodness gracious, best one I ever had! My daughter ordered garlic chicken, tostones, and my friend had mofongo with seafood, pasta for the baby, everything was delicious. For dessert we had spanish coffee and flan. Ate every morsel and ended up leaving well fed, more than satisfied, happy and wanting to return again…

When you walk in there is a bar to the left. Tight seating arrangements. We had two different waitresses serve us. Neither spoke great English. This was one of those situations where you knew if you spoke the language they would welcome you with open arms and cater to your every need. Since we don’t speak Spanish the service was a bit mediocre. This place is not a «looker» inside or outside but the food is good. I had the garlic shrimp with sweet plaintains. Flavored very well and the shrimp tasted so fresh. The plantains were riped to perfection. Every meal comes with a salad on the side I believe. It’s a little expensive though. This location is in Old San Juan. There’s a lot going on in this neighborhood. Seems like a mix of tourists and natives all having a good time so they probably raise the prices of food around here. I wouldn’t come back here. Too many other restaurants around to try.

Ah San Juan, a place where the warmth never ends. After sifting through many Unilocal reviews, Mojitos was picked. Place is unpretentious at best… more grimey and rundown looking really. As you enter the interior space, it is divided into two sections. On one side is the bar area and the other is a long narrow seating area. So my doubts started to mount wondering whether this place was the right pick… until I tried the garlic shrimp and carne asada with plantains. Buttery with a perfect blend of oils soaked this shrimp dish left me with a yearning for more. The carne was grande and well cooked. The rice was nice and fluffy and not lacking in flavor. No hot sauce or salsa needed here. The taste was explosively new to alert me to realize I’m not in a possible dive joint in Pilsen or a barrio in East Chicago but actually on foreign soil. Don’t forget the Mojitos. Prices were fair. When there are a limited amounted of meals to consider, Unilocal’s value is seen and provided me with the first stop in a hearty relaxcation.

Lunch specials are decently priced. Around 10 dollars will get you some decent pork or beef dish. Service were reasonable, our waitress did forget to bring us our water but it wasn’t the end of the world. I had the beef skirt steak(bistec) with onions and the significant other had the fried pork chunk with black beans rice. The steak was decent, a little on the salty side but most food on our visit to Puerto Rico has been a little on the salty side for us. We didn’t enjoy the fried pork chunk as much as we thought we would have, it’s probably because we been spoiled by the lechon we been having on the island. We were also seated on the very back of the restaurant which has some poor lighting, overall it’s a decent experience for the price
