El Xiringuito

Great place to grab a bite to eat. The food was great and so was the service. It was just a short walk down from our hotel. It was a good bargain with plenty of selection. I cannot remember exactly what we got, but it seemed like we had some of everything.

We were trolling the streets looking for a quick midday snack in PR and came across El Xiringuito. We loved that they had an outdoor eating area that over looked Avenida Isla Verde and quickly sat down. We ordered waters and mojitos for the table and also placed an order for chicharon and shrimp empanadas. Loved the shrimp turnovers but the real star of the show was the fried pork. HUGE cubes of delicately salted pork fried to heavenly perfection. They also provided a cilantro-​based dipping sauce and homemade hot sauce that JUST COMPLETED IT.
The staff was incredibly nice and stopped to chat with us every chance they got. Our waters were always full and the beer was cold and refreshing. A great place to stop for a quick bite to eat and a cerveza.

After a week long trip in Puerto Rico and trying various restaurants we came across (actually we were lost) El Xiringuito, we were tired and hot we stopped by cause of their happy hour sign seemed like that’s what we needed after driving around Puerto Rico (madness) we needed directions and some libations Cesar was kind enough to provide both, we then started looking at the menu and at those prices well it wouldn’t hurt to try a couple of things off the menu. Believe me we had been in Puerto Rico long enough to pay a lot for crap food we were ready to start hitting up the Sizzlers for dinner. But thankfully we found this great restaurant not only does it offer great food at great prices the staff is so nice and down to earth. We went back for dinner and then the next day for lunch and took a few empanadas for our flight home. Everything on the menu is delicious and the presentation it’s just beautiful I have a few pictures I’ll post we ordered a few things off the menu but my favorite was the «Levanta Muerto» soup it’s more of a bisque and we ordered it with mofongo, my boyfriend ordered the yellow tail all the sea food is fresh nothing taste frozen it’s all fresh and best of all no upset stomach after.
