On the menu for our table, among other things, was carpaccio, grilled octopus, duck, and lobster. Each item was prepared perfectly. Seasoning was spot on. The octopus was tender and had been perfectly marinated… as good as I have had anywhere else. The chef had a great personality as well, as he waited on each table in the restaurant. Great meal! We will definitely return when we’re back in PR.

Chef David Chaymol is arguably the best chef in Puerto Rico. His attention to detail for his dinner service is amazing. It was a privilege to eat at his table. The breakfast service(at which the chef was not present) was less than amazing however.

Everything was perfect. Its been a long since i have finished every single dish i ordered… Chef David is a true Artist. Traditional french dish but native taste using native ingredients… The duck confit i ordered was the best duck i have ever had. The suffle was again another work of creativity and flavors. Yes its bit expensive however those were the best dollars spent in a long time. And also the niche mojito was really really good. Love you San Juan. Bön Appetito!

Stayed in boutique hotel. Manager recommended this restaurant close by. Skeptical but decided to try. My goodness, what a gem! Small, intimate, well appointed. My best meal in San Juan. Exquisite tenderloin, salad and homemade bread rolls. This place is worth your evening meal.

This was most likely the best meal I’ve eaten in Puerto Rico ! I had the Duck Confit and am still thinking about it, and my entire meal, this morning ‚ WOW! Chef knows his business .He has created a charming, relaxing, dining room . One eats with their eyes as well as their mouth — each dish is a beautiful presentation ! The only suggestion I would make for change is the choice of music; disco didn’t match the otherwise charm and panache of the overall experience! Bye the way do not skip dessert, the Chocolate Tort was the best I’ve ever had! Hurry and make a reservation now, I Know I’ll be back for certain!

Recommended by a friend and loving her more since then! I took my husband to Niche as his surprise bday dinner as a mom & dad date. Chef Chaymol greeted us and was super attentive for the whole night. Food was as outstanding as I expected, but the«whole package» made it an unfortegeable experience. We had the soup, crab cakes, slow cooked lamb, maine lobster risotto and the crème bruleé as dessert. Highly recommended for cozy, romantic, exquisite dinner.

Quaint cozy and so cool. Food was delicious. Halibut was excellent. Volcano skirt steak was great. Took a while for food to come out because of short staff in kitchen but we were comped wine to make up for it. Wait staff was super friendly. Such a cool funky place we will certainly return.

We stayed in the Acadia Hotel one night and decided to have dinner here based on the Unilocal reviews and the fact that it was 10 feet away from our room. The reviews were pretty spot on. Very small intimate space with lots of character. Being a Saturday night I was surprised it wasn’t more crowded. We both had drinks which were very good and House salads for starters also good I had the Bistro Bouillabaisse and the wife had the Filet which she enjoyed. The service was very good The reason I could not give 5 stars is because while it was good, it was not blow me away good and it was fairly expensive which may explain the lack of a crowd in what appears to be a semi depressed location.

We loved this place! We had the octopus appetizer, the lobster risotto, and the filet mignon. They were all delicious! The chef, David Chaymol, was at our table and gave us wonderful suggestions. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

I Love this restaurant. The food is outstanding and the Chef is very wellcoming and available at all times for recommendations. We had the octopus and the Lobster rissotto with real shaved by the Chef truffles!!! And then we had the greatest Majorca and Chocolate and berry sauce soufflé!!! To die for!!!

Stopped by with my finance week of Christmas and had a wonderful meal. The head chef did a great job of mingling with guests, explaining the details of each dish on menu while Ordering and making sure everyone was happy with their dishes once served. Very, very nice French touch on traditional Puerto Rican food. Each month has a different tasting menu. Also cocktail menu was great and fun to try several options. Place is very small so reservations are recommended but this is a hidden gem you must try while in San Juan.

Niche is by far the best french bistro restaurant in Puerto Rico. The restaurant is located inside the boutique Acacia Hotel in Ocean Park. Niche is small and intimate but the food is plentiful and to die for. Picture stone walls, hand carved tables and comfortable seating. Chef David Chaymol takes a lot of pride in not only his food but plate presentation. Our party started with grilled octopus and foie gras as appetizers. Both were delectable and the portions were large. We then shared his scallops served in a sea shell and a rack of veal. The scallops were huge and cooked to perfection as was the veal. I can tell you we were all stuffed by the time we departed. If you want a fantastic meal in a setting where the owner/chef takes care of you personally then this is your place.

AUTHENTIC: Ended up here for dinner, on whim, because the place we wanted to go to closed at 4:30pm. The local at the closed place recommended Mojitos. We had the Pollo and Pork MOFONGO!!! You must have the MOFONGO!!! It’s amazing! You know this place it good because the beans were phenomenal and the tostones came out hot. If you want to eat like a local, come here!!! PS Sangria Rocks… get the pitcher. Perfect meal: Pork(or any meat) MOFONGO Side of beans Side of sweet plantains (And tostones for the true plantain lover) Sangria pitcher Definitely desires more than 3.5 stars!

I wasn’t intending on eating here, thought I would come for a drink. When I arrived, Chef David greeted me and I very much enjoyed chatting with him — in French! He is a French native who relocated to San Juan 15 years ago to offer(more) French food to the island. He is very sweet, knowledgeable of the area/culture/people, and it was a real pleasure to chat with him. We ended up staying for an appetizer and then for dinner– much of it due to Chef David’s passion and enthusiasm for the food he wanted to share with us. For both our starter drinks(martini and Cabernet), he recommended the grilled octopus appetizer. It was delicious! He also offered us a complimentary halibut ‘shooter’ that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Reminded me of an Asian flavor… it was anise. For dinner, we ordered the bouillabaisse and coconut-crusted halibut that came w a small risotto. Dinner was perfect, we let him decide on our wines to pair with our meals, and it was wonderful. The restaurant itself is a cozy place tucked in the back corner of the Acacia Boutique Hotel on 8 Calle Taft. There are just a handful of tables and we were actually lucky to get one because almost all of them were reserved! For a mellow menu that won’t overwhelm you, a fun and kind chef’s experience, try Niche. For us after a few local meals, it was nice to turn off our brain for one night and let the French chef take over.

While traveling, it’s extremely rare to find yourself 100% satisfied. However, 100% satisfaction is exactly what’s been experienced at this quaint little Bistro. Nestled within, Acacia Boutique, you’ll weave and twist your way to the entrance. The food was prepaired flawlessly, the service was the best around and the ambience is suitable for all occasions. Make a memory without breaking the bank.

Great martinis and mussels. Ambiance was dark, cavelike? Beautiful craftsmanship. Angel, the chef made and delivered the food to all of the patrons and provided some insight. Yummy! We considered staying at the Andalucia hotel and certainly would next time. Quaint, private, classy, boutique hotel and right next to the beach. Definitely worth a visit.

I though this place was excellent. I only had breakfast here, but the food was delicious and our server was very friendly. And I thought the value for the money spent was extraordinary. I would gladly pay more to dine somewhere as sophisticated, tasty and upscale-ish as this. I really recommend this place and that’s a lot coming from me. The parking situation is a little weird… But it’s Puerto Rico, so. My friend was staying at the hotel, and while I didn’t stay, I took a quick tour and was delighted with the contemporary design and modern touches if decoration. I have to come back again.

Such a cute little restaurant. Why a TV??? Got there right when it opened and Donna was frazzled. I was a bit put off, but she recovered and turned out to be a warm and delightful person! Can you believe I’ve never had a mojito until my Niche visit? Donna makes the best(even though it was my first, I can’t imagine one any better). Only one other couple there at the time. Donna does her job while talking and being super friendly. Had a sashimi appetizer, which was plenty.

This little place is amazing! The service is very good as well. The mojito though, is exquisite due to the very personnel touch that is added to this Puerto Rican drink of the gods by Donna. She is amazing and wealth of information about this wonderful place!
