We came here because we wanted to try an alternate pastry to the main shop in town. In comparison, this place was not as good. The pastries were not as warm and the shell more crunchy than the main place. I will say that if the line is long at the other place, this is not a bad alternative. The seating is more limited but it is definitely not as crowded and they have free wifi. This review is only for the pastries and not the other food.

My friends were wandering the streets of Belém on a Tuesday evening @ 7pm, seeking a comfortable place to eat some good Portuguese food. So of course I pull open my Unilocal and dutifully look for a place. Naturally, everything I find with a great review isn’t open. My friends find this decent looking place with a nice outdoor café and it had the great virtue of being open. I look at the reviews and say, uh-oh, this place gets lousy reviews and no love! My friends and I decide to give it a try anyway and you know our verdict. of course you do because you’ve already seen my star rating. we loved it. two of us order the cod special, salads, the other a pork dish and a bottle of wine. The food was delicious, service was some of the best we had in Portugal(yes, compared to finer dining places too) and the meal was IMHO quite inexpensive. I’m not sure I could have asked for anything more after our day in Bélem and our experience, fortunately for us, was nothing those reported by others before us who only seemed to like the breakfast. I hope you too will give it a fair chance, but if you are looking for fine dining, this is not the place, but did provide, at least for us, great food, drink, service and price!

This is the exact description of a tourist trap! The business model is based on making money by offering the lowest quality possible. Only positive thing I can add to the food is that it’s possibly fresh. The inside ambiance was nothing special and rather cheesy. If you’re seated inside you end up smelling of fried food and oil. However on the positive the staff was friendly and did not make us wait too long. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Unless they cut their prices in half and you’re starving.

Very disappointed! Très déçu ! Service is bad. The Quality of food is basic and may be related to prices in the menu. The three guys for the service did not care to provide a reasonable level of service like offering a smile, bread, oil as for other tourists… They even came with the next part even if starters were not finished and did not ask for our preferences… Anyway there is much more better somewhere else!

Typical tourist trap spot with the most popular location but sub-par food. I don’t know why I ordered this thinking it would be fresh, but I went with the roasted suckling pig. What I got was lukewarm soggy skinned pork that was actually cold towards the bottom. Gross. My wife got version of steak au poivre which was basically some cut of beef drenched in a cream sauce & covered in peppercorns. It was just so much cream/butter sauce that it was too much. Please find another restaurant in the area! This is definitely a tourist trap.
