Affordable, authentic Portuguese food that’s just a couple of minutes’ walk from the monastery and the pastry shop. It’s surprising how fast the crowd thins. I really like the décor inside, with blue tiles covering the wall and brick arches on top. Our waiter brings us appetizer, and I am glad to see that they are wrapped in plastic film. Visitors to Portugal soon find out that when they sit down at a restaurant, the waiter will, unbidden, brings forth bread, cheese and other dishes. Visitors will also very soon learn that these dishes are not free. They will be charged for anything they touch, even if it’s just a bite-ful. I usually let the waiters know to just take the dishes back, which they gladly do. Undoubtedly, the dishes will make their round to another table, and another, until someone finally takes the bait. However, at this place, the appetizers are covered in wrap. This at least, makes me feel better about its travelling. This restaurant, besides offering some standard Portuguese fare, and some dishes for homesick tourists, also serves dishes from Alentejo. I decided to take take advantage and tried the Alentejo soup and the Alentejo pork casserole. The soup is a hearty one, with a slice of bread soaking in a clear broth rich with cilantro and garlic flavor, and an egg on top. I can imagine it a comforting dish on a cold day. The pork casserole, with clams and chunks of pork, has been one of my favorite Portuguese dishes, and this restaurant does a pretty good version of it, and a good-sized portion for less than 10 Euro. We also tried the Bacalhau a bras, a codfish dish with egg and shoestring fries. For dessert, I would recommend heading to the pastry shop next door for the famous Pateis de Belem.

Das Restaurant befindet sich auf der zentralen Rua de Belém unweit des Hieronymus-Klosters. Kein Wunder, dass haufenweise Touristen entlanglaufen. Ein perfekter Ort für eine Tourifalle, sollte man meinen. Wir haben es trotzdem gewagt und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Innere ist gemütlich und stilvoll eingerichtet, in dem Lokal dominiert eine mit vielen Weinflaschen zugestellte Theke. Auf der Karte konnten wir zwischen gängigen portugiesischen Gerichten wählen, wer Fisch und Fleisch mag, ist hier sicherlich nicht falsch. Nach angemesser Wartezeit kam unser Mittagsmahl, bei mir in Form von Hähnchen aus dem Ofen. Das einfache Gericht war solide zubereitet und schmecke ganz gut. Preis-Leistung(8,90 Euro) empfand ich in Ordnung, umso mehr angesichts der guten Lage. Wegen der schönen Einrichtung verdient die Adega für mich knappe vier Sterne.

Este é um espaço bastante rústico e com ambiente acolhedor. Aqui encontramos cozinha típica portuguesa na sua generalidade mas também muitos pratos tipicamente alentejanos que fazem jus à própria decoração. As sobremesas são caseiras e difíceis de resistir. Em relação ao preço é justo tendo em conta a relação qualidade-preço.

Esta é mais uma daquelas casas ofuscadas pelos Pasteis de Belém pois quando se fala nesta zona de Lisboa não se fala de mais nada… Infelizmente. Na Adega de Belém come-se bem(rimou…), num ambiente sossegado e típico, com preços dentro da media para um restaurante destes. Há uma grande oferta de pratos do dia, muitos pratos de carne e alguns pratos de peixe com especial destaque para o bacalhau, não fosse está uma zona tão turística. Da minha experiência posso falar do entrecosto na frigideira com migas pois foi o que aqui comi. Bem servida a carne, com esta presente(contrariamente a outros sítios onde o osso impera) e as migas próximas do Alentejo, ainda que a meio caminho, não desiludiam. Um serviço típico de que recebe turistas todos os dias mas por vezes dando a entender que o facto de eles estarem só de passagem, lhes pode criar mais hábitos…
