Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you fill my tummy tonight. Ok, I know that’s crude and stereotypical but I couldn’t help it. All kidding aside, the reindeer sausage was delicious! I visited on a recent rainy afternoon and received prompt and courteous attention. Having never had reindeer sausage before I was looking for some guidance on the best way to top my tasty treat. The young lady recommend pølse mustard, onions and lingonberry sauce; she couldn’t have been more right! The combo created a sweet and savory mix that went perfectly with the sausage. The meat had a mild taste with a great snap and the bun held up well to the sauces. The sausage was only 58kr which isn’t a bad deal by Norway’s standards. Make sure to ask for the free lemonade and you can round out your snack!

So many choices! They offer sausages from 4 different countries and all dolled up the way you like it. They are open late(till 4 am) which is great when most closes at 6 pm in Bergen. They open back up at 11 am. You also get a free glass of lemonade(that kind of tastes like a melted popsicle) but hey its free. Dogs average about $ 7 each which is reasonable in Norway where a Filet of Fish costs $ 10.50.

I had the game meat sausage with herb sauce… I was really looking forward to trying this place because of the great reviews, but man… It was terrible. I threw half of it away. The lady was nice… But the sausage was dank, it was supposed to have herbs & spices but it was bland… Except for the 1″ gristle chunks. Yuck. My fiancé had the bratwurst and he said it was good… I just chose wrong apparently.

As a sausage-maker/shop operator from Wisconsin, USA, I sought out as many pølser stands/shops/restaurants as I could during my 2-week vacation through Norway. I told this story to the attendant when ordering and he assured me that I «wouldn’t find a better sausage in Norway than right here in Bergen.» He was totally correct! I visited twice during my visit. The first time I tried the jumbo Reindeer sausage while I engulfed the jumbo Wild Game sausage the second trip. Each time I topped my selection with crispy onions, pølser mustard, and the ubiquitous«hot dog sauce»(remoulade?). Both were exceptional choices, but I preferred the savory/gamey flavor of the Wild Game sausage over the Reindeer link. Please see my photo of the Wild Game sausage for visual evidence. The free lemonade I gulped down between each salty bite was just icing on an encased meat cake. If you’re looking for an authentic Norwegian street food experience coupled with encased meat craftsmanship, look no further than this stand.

They didn’t have the reindeer sausage, which is the main reason I showed up, so I asked the guy for his recommendation, and he was super friendly and recommended me the Bratwurst which was delicious. And for Norwegian standards, I guess it’s okayish priced. Need to try the reindeer one though!

!!!SAUSAGE!!! I LOVESAUSAGES!!! 55kr$ 7.33 for a regular sized sausage… or 85kr/$ 11.33 for really big and looooonnnnng sausage… no joke! ;) Day 1: Wild Game Sausage… not sure what animal I was eating, but it was great! Day 2: Reindeer Sausage… sorry Rudolf! You are quite delicious though! The regular size sausages are quite huge! See the photo I uploaded with my head directly behind my sausage. There’s about 8 – 10 different choices, I only wish I had time or the stomach to try them all. A great quick and relatively cheap lunch in Norway. They also give you a cup of juice to go with it. (Note: At time of this review, the US dollar was up 50% against the Norway kroner…$ 1 = 7.5kr vs $ 1 = 5kr just a couple years ago)

My daughter got sick while in Bergen(she wouldn’t let go of her ‘bucket’) and she wouldn’t eat for a day. I brought home a reindeer hotdog that evening, and it was the first thing she ate — finishing the entire hot dog(I had to go get a 2nd one)! Ate at least 4 of these while in town.

Unfortunately, they ran out of the reindeer sausage, but the regular pork/beef blend with«wild spices» that I got was still excellent, and as they claim was the biggest sausage of any of the carts I tried. Yeah, it works out to be about $ 10, but that is crazily enough one of the cheapest food options around.

Best deal period for post bar food in Bergen. Incredible sausages(reindeer, boar, anything with four legs) great prices, open late, and right on the street as you stumble off to your next bar.
