I didn’t take the time to read the background on the business, my kids just wanted to buy ice cream, so away we went. It’s a very pink place with a full sized cow in front, hard to miss as you are walking by. They chose salted popcorn, we chose salted caramel. I preferred the salted popcorn, despite the small husks. The staff treated the kids well, there were plenty of ice cream options, and they had a child scoop for $ 3(which didn’t seem much smaller than the single scoop). They also make espresso etc, but we didn’t try it this time.

The idea behind Pride & Joy is remarkable: creating opportunities for«remarkable unemployees». Their model gives people a chance to start their own ice cream shops using the finest local NZ ingredients(which we all know are in abundance for ice cream!). I checked out this shop, which upon googling, is Kurtis and Tim’s spot(there are two more dotted around the city as well). I sampled a couple flavors and decided on the White Chocolate & Macadamia. mmmm. They have a ton of diverse flavors and rumor has it a coffee one will be releasing soon(!!!). Next time I’m trying R16 Ginger Bliss, which is touted as «the ice cream wizard’s personal favourite.» :) It’s $ 3 for a kid size and $ 5 for a one scoop, which will definitely have me coming back for more.
