There are two kinds of people who are my age and who still shop at Amazon. Pathetic old dudes desperately holding on to their youth and creepy pedaphiles. Thankfully I belong in the pathetic old dude category. But give me a break would you, they happen to have the best selection of flip flops(jandels). Once upon a golden age I was in the appropriate age group for this store, gallivanting through the isles of clothing, demanding that my mum buy me things, getting rejected then throwing tantrums — good times. But there is such a big difference between good flip flops and crappy flip flops. Do your self a favour and invest in your feet next summer.

Back home I used to have certain Amazon connections, so I didn’t usually have to pay full price for their gear. While I bemoan the loss of said discount, I like the store that much that I don’t mind paying full price for things now. The store itself is a pretty wicked fit out, all hard wood polished floors, lots of space and of course heaps of clothes, mmmmmmm clothes. It’s a store aimed at a younger generation of cool cats, I would say from about 11– 25 sort of age range. I say that roughly though. The shop assistants are all in that age range themselves and are all kitted out in the latest gear to come through the shop so I feel like they know what they are talking about and can usually be relied on for some advice. The store caters to a surf/skate/denim sort of ideal, which is the sort of aesthetic that appeals to me. They stock RPM here which is one of my all time favorite brands. In fact I already have a couple of new season pieces from this range in mind for my autumn wardrobe once my paycheck comes through at the end of the week.

Amazon Surf stocks all the big street/surf brands like Billabong and Rip Curl. These brands produce everything from T-shirts to wallets and most things in between. While the downtown Westfield mall is rather lackluster, this«surf store» is one of it’s redeeming shops. With a large entrance showcasing their latest sales and a wide staircase to the street outside, this Amazon has a spacious feel, with plenty to browse through. It has a dedicated jeans area, shoes shelves and children’s wear. The staff are usually easy going youngsters who have at least a basic knowledge of their product, or who can order in stock from their other stores for you. Almost every wallet or pair of board shorts I purchased as a teenager was in a store like this. Every mall should have a uni-sex street wear store with alternative music turned up too loud when the boss isn’t around.
