Osteria Da Ugo

This is great find in Verona. Hidden behind the large FNAC store in Verona, this charming osteria serves up authenic veronese cuisine. The wine list is extraordinary, and the service impeccable. A perfect place to escape the crowds in Verona and enjoy a memorable meal.

In a quiet alley and slightly off the beaten path, Osteria da Ugo is the perfect escape from the more prominently displayed restaurants of Verona. It features the perfect selection of Italian cuisine, including some dishes which are unique to the Veneto region. We dined at Osteria da Ugo for lunch, so our selection of food was limited. My wife enjoyed the tagliatelle with muchrooms. (the exact name escapes me) Although simple in concept, the execution was perfect. The pasta was lightly sauced which allowed the mushrooms and perfectly cooked pasta to stand out. I enjoyed the donkey meat raviolli. (Donkey is a local specialty) Again, firm, perfectly cooked pasta, filled with richly flavored and finely ground meat, and finished with a light butter sauce.
We are looking forward to the next time we visit Verona and can more extensively sample Osteria Da Ugo.
