‘I had high hopes for Stella 5c but she didn’t quite impress’. Value for money — not quite. Service with a smile — if your frown is upside down. Authentic Taste — polenty of polenta. Would I eat here again — No. We had read about this ‘so called hidden gem’ in a few magazines and was thrilled about the menu selection and it’s authenticity. Everything ranging from horse, duck to donkey. We ordered the lamb chops and horse gnocchi aswell as a polenta with mushrooms and Parmesan. We hoped for authenticity and frankly speaking as I always do with my reviews it was bland and easily forgettable. The presentation was average and the food in flavour to match was equally the same(that includes the bread selection). The service was just ok. Despite being busy we felt we were served on well but that wasn’t through lack of asking. We had grand plans to try the desert but gave it a miss on the grounds the mains and scondi were polenty ‘so so’. Irrespective of what people might say Stella ain’t what she is cracked up to be.

Traditional restaurant close to Piazza Erbe does good examples of Veneto cuisine. Almost everything comes with polenta, but is well prepared and tasty. The menu of the day is worth a try, but ordering from the menu is also rewarding. I had zuppa di farro and trippe con polenta. Both are recommended. The wine list is fairly good, with a very good selection of by the glass. it is primarily local, but with some representation from Tuscany and Piedmont.

This restaurant was the best dining experience of my time in Italy. Expertly prepared dishes that we traditional, yet had added flair of accoutrements that elevated the savory delights. I definitely would dine here again with a return visit to Verona.

We stumbled upon this place while on a day trip to Verona, and had an extremely leisurely and pleasant lunch there. The woman who waited on us was very pleasant and helpful, even though our Italian and her English were quite limited! I started with the lightest gnocchi imaginable topped with an incredibly flavorful horsemeat ragú. Yes, horsemeat. I ate it and I loved it. So flavorful. My friend had a very nice pasta the details of which escape me. For an entrée, I had the stuffed duck, which was moist and flavorful if not exactly what I expect from a duck dish(no crisp skin, etc.). We finished with a shared cheese plate with local honey and fruit preserves — very nice.
