Definitely recommend this restaurant. The fish was so fresh! We had two different kids of fish and lobster, all fresh and tasty. The fish was cooked whole then they will filet the fish meat for you, pouring the delicious juices and spices over the succulent fish meat to eat, with tomatoes, spinach etc.(if you want). The appetizers and wine were good too. The seating is right on the pier, overlooking the sea. They had heaters and blankets as it is not yet summer and was a little chilly, so was perfect that we still got to enjoy eating on the shore. Service was fantastic /accommodating too. The reviews that did not give high stars were not based on the food the restaurant is known for(who gets pizza at a seafood restaurant?), and a credit card machine going offline — very poor reasons to give lower stars!

Located on the water at Marina Grande in Sorrento, this restaurant features fresh seafood. The seating includes a pier into the water of the marina. The atmosphere is great with white jacketed waiters and a waterside formality. The food was very good. Had a sea bass meal that was excellent and cleaned at tableside. My wife had a salmon dish.

Note to self… even when you have a super nice hotel concierge who is clearly trying to be helpful, always trust Unilocal. I should have heeded the previous reviews before deciding to go to Zi’ntonio Mare. Evening started off ok with the restaurant’s courtesy car picking us up at the Hilton Palace. Evening continued to be ok when we reached the marina and saw the beautiful setting in which the restaurant was located. The foregoing account for the 1 star I am giving. The waiter had little interest in explaining menu items or providing recommendations. I told him that I wanted some shellfish(mussels, clams, etc.) in a tomato broth. He kept pushing the fresh whitefish special. Finally said he could give me mussels and clams, with a little bit of whitefish, in a tomato based sauce. My wife ordered the gnocchi. We also ordered the zucchini flower appetizer and a half bottle of red wine. The wine was delivered warm. The waiter explained this by waiving his hands around and saying that the wine is out and it gets warm. His suggestion was to put it in ice. So we did. Ok, fine. The zucchini flowers were ok. Fried and filled with ricotta, they just lacked seasoning and taste. My dish was brought out on a large metal platter. There were some clams and some mussels, all surrounding a whole whitefish in a butter-based sauce. I told the waiter that I didn’t order a whole whitefish. His response was for me not to worry about it because he would debone the fish for me. I told him again that I didn’t want an entire whitefish. He asked if I wanted just the clams and mussels, which I said was fine, so he went back, dumped the clams and mussels on to a plate and gave the bread plate sized portion to me. The shellfish was actually good, though was an appetizer-sized portion or smaller. The gnocchi were ok, though a bit gummy. The kicker of all of this was that, when the bill arrived, they charged us € 17 for the mussels/clams and added a cover charge of € 2 per person. When we asked one of the other waiters what the cover charge was for, he said it was for the tablecloth(seriously?). The charge for an entire portion of mussels on the menu was € 10, so we went to the front of the restaurant to speak with the manager. I’m not sure if she was the manager, but we spoke with a blonde woman sitting at the hostess area about the meal overcharge and cover charge. She kept trying to tell us that the bill was the bill. She finally acquiesced and changed the € 17 to € 10. They refused, however, to remove the € 4 cover charge showing us that ¾ of the way through the menu there was a line item for the charge. Lesson learned, Unilocal.I won’t make this mistake again.

On our first night after quite a travel we opted for a restaurant from our guide book we read on the plane. Unluckily for us the first option appeared not to exist(probably mistyped the name) so we went for this second choice. The location is nice next to the old harbour which is set in a bay. The restaurant is well staffed and even then forgot our drinks more than once. Our children really wanted pizza so we ordered that. Probably there are way better options for pizza. Probably an address better suited to a hunger for seafood. We enjoyed the location. Also the walk to get to it. Downhill on arrival and uphill when leaving.

I can totally resonate with Speed W’s review. I visited this establishment with my partner, earlier this evening, the positives? They welcome you in… unsurprisingly…The seating area is nice, however thats where the positives end. The negatives: Ordered the calamari, they mentioned the two variants, went for the rings. They were tasty but may well have been due to the copious frying oil. Upon receipt of bill there was the mysterious — Coperto — service charge € 4(€ 2/person) — when questioned«it was a service charge italy they levy for bread etc». Was rather bemused as nobody else on the island seemed to levy the — Coperto charge. Have extensively travelled the region and never seen it appear on a bill. Selective theft. Also if like the rest of the globe you pay by card… you might want to re-think. There were two other couples who had to faff about for 30mins each, while their 1920s card reader caught a signal. 1 was even offered to be driven to a cash machine a back, debt collection at its finest. Looks nice, food & service could be much better. Depending on how busy they are you could end up with more than you anticipate to pay.

Went in June 2013 with two families /11 people total, 5 of which were young teens. Nice outdoor setting on the water, recommended by the Hilton Palace concierge. The waiter started off by pushing appetizers very hard. So much so that we made sure to clearly summarize our order before he left the table. The food was tasty and the service seemed good until the bill came. € 480 and the kids all had € 8 pizzas. They charged us for € 80 of calamari appetizers, saying that our order of «two calamari» somehow meant 2 orders of baby squid and 2 orders of large rings. After much discussion, we asked to see the menu as well. When we questioned why the check was € 20 per order instead of the € 15 for Fried Calamari listed on the menu, the response was that this was«fresh, not frozen», therefore it cost more. That was the last straw for me. They finally agreed to adjust the check when we mentioned we were going to give our feedback to the Hilton. What should have been a nice evening ended on a very sour note. I’m a reasonable person, and I felt we were careful to be extremely clear once we got that first bad vibe. Normally I would chalk it up to a miscommunication, but these guys were not playing it straight. Tourists beware!
