L’Archetto

Best pasta ever, with chanel sauce. Lobster, cream, parsley. It is creamy, rich but not too heavy. The Pizza was thin crust and tasty. We also ordered steak, seasoned well but not cooked very well. Service was slow and also waiters were a bit rude.

Great food! They understood English and spoke it reasonably. Fresh food and very authentic. Also the restaurant is much larger than it looks because the larger rooms are underground. They have Sooooo many options and the menu is in Italian English and French (that’s what it looked like). I had some kind of spaghetti with bacon and hot peppers. Sooooo good!

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Rome. There are over 100 different types of pasta dishes on the menu– amazing! Prices are very reasonably and the quality is very high. I went with group of 7 and had no trouble getting a table on a Thursday night. The majority of seating is in the lower level, so there is no view or window space, but it not as noisy or loud as most restaurants. I had the Refaruk, a shrimp and garlicy pink sauce pasta dish, and it’s one of the best I’ve had in Rome to date. The seafood is only available fresh on Tuesday’s and Friday’s, FYI. Because there are so many options on the menu, I would recommend asking the waiter what is good, especially for that particular day. A great place to share excellent pasta dishes. I will definitely be going back to L’Archetto!

I went on the Free Walking Tour of Rome, and our tour guide recommended this restaurant to us. I came with a couple of other people in our tour and we were ordered three different pastas, which they kindly split for us so that we could try as many of the pastas as we wanted. It was all very tasty!

I came with 15 co-​workers for a team dinner. I wouldn’t come back.
The waiter was coming up with excuses when we told them we would pay by credit card, but eventually caved.
I had a bruschetta pomodoro, and it was OK.
The steak though, a bisteca, was awful. Dry, unseasoned and cold. I just couldn’t finish it. I wondered if it was microwaved. The side of potatoes «al forno» was almost OK, but most were burned small pieces.
When we asked for the bill, they gave us a torn piece of paper with scribbled incomprehensible notes. Certainly not valid in any expense report.
And last but not least service was very slow. We stayed there for 3h. Usually our team dinners don’t go over 2h.
Friends who had pasta were mostly satisfied. That’s the only reason I’m not giving this review one star only.

LOVED this place! My favorite was the walnut cream sauce for their pasta. Their antipasti table is also amazing. We ended up eating here several nights. I have recommended it to so many friends and clients, all of whom have come back raving about it. If you cant decide on what sauce, they will do a plate of pasta for the table and will put on several sauces (in individual areas) so that you can try them all

Best lobster cream sauce spaghetti I’ve ever had. It’s called the Chanel under the spaghetti section – first page. The pasta section on the menu can seem overwhelming but it’s also all in English. We also had the olive bruschetta and artichoke bruschetta, both amazing, warm and crunchy. The house wine wasn’t bad but the bottle of Chardonnay was Santa Margherita, one of my favorite brands. Tiramisu was to die for. Came in a cute little jar. Only complaint? The slowish service. But it’s busy and it’s Italy

You will navigate through a massive menu with what seems like unlimited pasta choices with zero help from the staff. We were overwhelmed with the menu and asked our waiter about the different pasta choices and his simple answer was it’s all the same. At least they admit it.
So the service is unhelpful, unattentive, incredibly slow, like a snail. The food was subpar based on every other dinner and lunch we had in Rome. Because I was starving I gobbled everything up, but overall it tasted like something my college roommates and I would make, boil boxed spaghetti and heat up some canned tomatoes. My fiancé’s pizza was over salted and under cooked. Just blah in terms of the food you could get in Rome.
It was also the only place we went to that charged the service tax, which is fine, it’s legal to do that in Italy, but our perception is that only super fancy places do that or casual restaurants that serve meh food.
All in all, avoid this restaurant and do a teeny bit of research to find a better restaurant, literally any would have been better.

Spaghetti was absolutely delicious! So many choices to choose from and all sound amazing. The service was ok, but even during a hectic time, you still get attention. Reasonably priced and perfect location next to the trevi fountain

Totally decent and acceptable Italian dining. This place is in an alley and a little off the main beat. But that makes for more pleasurable and serine experience. Nice to be a stones through away from all the busy tourist traffic that surrounds this place.
Our food was just fine and tasted well enough. The service although not poor was a bit lacking. Two semi uninterested waiters stood most of their time in front of the entrance playing with their cell phones.
Oj yeah I forgot to mention but will now in my update, when we received the check after our meal it was entirely scribbled down on a small piece of paper by hand. So no maskin or cash register was involved. Wonder what the tax collecting and permit granting authorities think about that…

I before my visit to Rome, I heard about this place from multiple people, in Unilocal it was 3.5 stars, so I decided to try it
I tried today for dinner and was not good
We sat outside and it was very hot and the restaurant is not prepared for that
The waiter was not friendly and actually rude, he didn’t offered any help with menu,
We asked for tap water and he refused to get it
We ordered spaghetti cavalri which was average, and pescado which was okay
The artichoke bruschetta was very blunt
I will say that the only star is for the manager/​owner who was nice
I would never try this place again

Situé dans une petite ruelle, à deux pas de la Fontaine de Trevi (actuellement en travaux), l’Archetto propose de délicieuses pâtes et avec une petite terrasse typique ! La carte propose un très large choix de pâtes (la carte en propose en n’en plus finir !). Comme je n’arrivais pas à me décider devant cette carte interminable, j’ai opté pour les mythiques spaghettis alla bolognese: un régal ! L’amoureux a pris lui des spaghettis au mascarpone des crevettes.
Une bonne adresse si vous voulez manger de bonnes pâtes italiennes en terrasse ! :-)

La situation de ce restaurant est idéale pour qui souhaite visiter Rome après le déjeuner. Dommage que les voitures et scooters soient présents entre les tables et la salle du restaurant…
La carte est très longue, surtout pour les pâtes que l’on peut manger à tous les sauces. Les plats né sont pas très copieux mais restent très bons et au final, c’est pile ce qu’il faut pour profiter d’un goûter dans l’aprem.
Mention spéciale pour les pizzas et leur pâte toute fine et croustillante! C’était les meilleures que j’ai goûté lors de mon passage dans la capitale. Pas convaincue par la pannacotta par contre.

This restaurant was a fabulous experience as far as food is concerned, but the service was absolutely horrid.
We were on our way to the Trevi Fountain (not knowing that it was under renovation) and decided to lunch before getting there. Seeing people sipping and eating made us hungrier so we checked Trip Advisor for the nearest non-​touristy restaurant and this place popped up.
We did not have to wait long for our table which is always a delight. We were led through what seemed like a dungeon to our table. The restaurant is very cozy since its main seating area is below ground. You will literally smell what the other table is eating and your tummy will rumble. I know because that happened to me!
We were provided with a huge menu, with extensive pasta choices. I felt like I was going through Cheesecake Factory’s menu and was having a real hard time deciding what to get. I finally decided on Sultani. My friends went with Casara (shrimp and vegetables), Re-​faruk (a very buttery pasta and the star of the table) and Bunny (a tuna based pasta).
Did I mention that you will see so many options that your brain will do somersaults? So, after placing the order I changed my mind and asked the waiter to get me Casara as well. Our waiter gave me such a huge scowl that it was confirmed that he loathed me. I had been eying the bread on the other table but after hearing him tell the lady «why bread? bread makes you fat!» I decided to skip on asking for bread from the waiter who already hated my guts!
The verdict on the wine was that it was ehhh-​ok. Thank God my coke was chilled.
I would highly recommend this restaurant on account’s of food. The pasta dishes were delicious and fresh. Unfortunately, we too like other reviewers were over-​charged and not given a receipt (NOT COOL!).

Great little non-​touristy place tucked away on a side street. It was filled with locals both times we went and stays open & lively until 1 AM. It’s an easy walk from Trevi Fountain but far enough off the beaten path for a more authentic dining experience without a ‘barker’ in your face trying to sell you on the food.
The menu is both simple (two main choices: pizza or spaghetti) and complicated (there are about 5 pages of pizzas and 100 different spaghetti options). Everything we had was delicious and reasonably priced. The highlight was the house-​made Tiramisu, which came in its own mini mason jar. There are plenty of seating options including an outdoor area and a fairly large downstairs (which has a nice ambience to it.) If we didn’t have reservations at another restaurant one night and dinner plans on others, we probably would have eaten here every night as it was only a couple buildings away from our apartment.
There are actually quite a few restaurants called L’Archetto in Rome and I’m not sure that the recent one star reviews are in the right spot. The wait staff all seemed perfectly reasonable & professional, and the house wine we received was definitely full strength. We ordered extra based on a recent review saying it was watered down… and ended dinner pretty tipsy!
Would definitely return. Its always a pleasure to find a hidden gem so close to a major attraction.

Terrible service for which you will be charged 15%, mediocre food and no reciept. Few meters away are much better restaurants.

I can’t believe there are so many good reviews here. Honestly, this L’A was a waste of money. Our first day in Rome we tried L’Archetto and were disappointed in every way possible.
1. We had to get up after 10 minutes to ask for water glasses after the waiter brought water to the table. That was our first hint.
2. After that, even by Italy’s standards, the waiter ignored us and was relatively obnoxious when he did finally make it over.
3. The food was mediocre at best. I had the pasta boscaiola, and my family ordered a wide variety of pastas. We all tried each other’s. Everyone found the food to be bland. 2 stars /​5.
4. THE HOUSE WINE IS WATERED DOWN. Seriously. It tastes like dishwater. They bring it out in a carafe so you can’t tell as easily.
5. There are always tourists eating here. I wanted to warn them every time I walked past. Don’t fall into this trap!
Go to That’s Amore! around the corner, or Roma Historia further up the way. Both are much, much better.

Best choice in Rome so far. I like the fact that they have a very generous selection of different pasta.

A deux pas de la fontaine de Trevi, ce restaurant italien se situe dans une rue (lle) typiquement romaine, pas forcément super engageante mais en passant devant les tables dressées et en sentant les odeurs émanant des plats, on s’est dit que ça devait être une bonne adresse, qui plus est bien notée sur Unilocal.En plus de la «terrasse», la spaghetteria dispose d’une salle au rez-​de-​chaussée, une deuxième et une troisième salle au sous-​sol. La déco est assez simpliste mais peu importe. Le plus difficile quand le serveur nous apporte les cartes, c’est de choisir un plat. Le choix est tout simplement pharaonique ! Plus de 10 pages de spaghettis ! Sans compter les plats traditionnels et les pizzas. Il vous faudra un certain temps avant de tout parcourir. Nous avons opté pour une assiette avec trois recettes, servies pour deux personnes. La carte des vins n’est pas folle, mais on peut y trouver son bonheur. Le serveur était à l’écoute et sympa. Quant au plat, c’était bon, rien à redire là-​dessus, mais au niveau de la quantité, help ! Où est passée la cuisine généreuse de la mama italienne? On a dû reprendre une deuxième assiette de spaghettis pour être calés. Le tiramisu était correct, sans être fabuleux. En gros, une adresse sympathique, mais sans plus. Rien de bien éblouissant à se mettre sous la dent.

Freundlichkeit der Bedienung lässt zu wünschen übrig. Essen war in Ordnung, auch wenn der Belag auf der Pizza doch sehr knapp bemessen war. Für den Preis aber ok. Wiederkommen würden wir aber nicht.

Wir waren soeben in dem Lokal, auf Grund unserem Reiseführer Rom. Das Lokal liegt in einer Gasse und ist gut besucht. Das Ambiente ist Durchschnitt. Essen ist ok, sehr viel Auswahl. 15% für den Service werden direkt verrechnet.(Steht auch in der Karte).Ansonsten sehr große Auswahl an Spagetti-​Variationen. Die Spagetti waren sehr aldente. Der Hauswein war gut.

My bf & I went spent 9 days in Rome during December 2012 and this was our first dining experience in Italy. The food here is fantastic and the service was friendly. It is hidden in a narrow street so it may be difficult to find. I recommend asking a local for directions which is what we did.
We loved the pasta dishes in cream sauce here — most notable would be the vodka sauce, carbonara & prosciutto/​peas/​broccoli combo. The thin crust pizzas cooked in a wood oven here is excellent. Crust is chewy and plenty of toppings. Our favorite was the prosciutto & fungi pizza. Pizza’s are huge so we had to take leftovers back to the hotel with us. Their panna cotta is to not be missed! Perfect texture and is served with a drizzle of raspberry sauce.
Overall, we loved this place so much that we came back 3 times! Very affordable (10 – 12 euros per dish) and authentic. I highly recommend this place and you won’t be disappointed. Will stop by here again if we make it back to Rome in the future. It’s that good!

Römische Küche, die aber besser geht
Eher zufällig sind wir auf dieses Lokal beim Bummeln gestoßen. Eine Traube an Italienern wartete vor der Tür auf Einlass. Wir hatten das Gefühl, hier gehen nur Römer essen.
Der Laden brummte, man musste zum Teil 15 – 30 min auf einen Tisch warten. Wir hatten Glück und warteten nur 10 min, weil ein Zweier-​Tisch schnell zu haben war. Im Innenraum ist alles sehr eng gestellt; es gibt einen Gastraum oben und unten (Keller).
Bestellt hatten wir eine Pizza des Hauses (Pizza LArchetto) und einmal die Spagetti Matriciana (besondere Spezialität Roms). Die Spagetti waren al dente und die Soße schien ganz ok. Die Pizza fand ich nur Durchschnitt. Der Boden war knusprig, aber der Belag war m.E. etwas touristisch. Es gibt kleine Pizzaläden in Rom, da bekommt die Pizza besser.
Getränkebestellung war eine Flasche Wasser, über die der Kellner etwas die Nase rümpfte.
Rechnung werden nicht ausgestellt, auf einen kleinen Fetzen Papier wird unleserlich etwas für den Kassierer oben gekritzelt. Der Gast bekommt nur eine Gesamtsumme genannt. Bei uns waren es 22 EUR, was hieß, das die Flasche Wasser 6EUR gekostet hat.
Alles etwas undurchsichtig, besonders bei Touristen, die sich nicht unbedingt um eine Rechnung scheren.
Vermute, hier werden keine Steuern auf den Umsatz gezahlt. Viva Italia!!!

Ce restaurant rate les 5 étoiles à cause de ses desserts qui né sont pas terribles. Mais sinon, pour tout le reste c’est un pur plaisir. À éviter surement le jour car la petite rue n’est pas interdite aux voitures et dans la journée, ça doit pas mal circuler dans ce coin. En revanche, le soir, la terrasse reculée est au top.
Pas très loin de la fontaine de Trevi, l’endroit est plutot calme, le service est super et les plats un délice. C’est donc une spagheteria et il va vous falloir du temps pour choisir à quelle sauce vous allez les manger tant les propositions sont nombreuses. La carte est un vrai livre.
Histoire de rester simple et de pouvoir juger, j’ai pris des Carbonara et je me suis régalé. Bien servi, pâtes al dente comme je les aime, le tout arrosé d’un Proseco excellent.

Les spaghettis les plus exceptionnelles que j’ai mangé sont ici! Le patron est une crème. Ses plats sont delicieux de l’entrée au dessert en passant par le vin. Une adresse à né pas manquer à Rome!!!

Si vous cherchez un classique Italien avec une terrasse en plein coeur du quartier de Trevi, mais un peu a l’ecart du flot de touristes, l’Archetto est pour vous. Bruschetta, Crostini, Pizze et Spaghetti dans de nombreuses variations sont bien servies, et a des prix raisonnables.

Getränke zu warm — keine Eiswürfel erhältlich. Kein Weincooler. Service na ja. Weinflasche wird geöffnet und einfach auf den Tisch gestellt. Der Laden ist was für Rucksacktouristen und definitiv KEIN «must See «.Spaghettis Al dente = ok jedoch kleine Portionen! EUR 8, —
Störend sind die Autos, die 50 cm am Tisch vorbeifahren. Beleuchtung eher unromantisch.

Une semaine en Italie. Ce n’était pas comme à Londres, où trouver un restaurant qui servait de la nourriture «british» était quasi mission impossible. En Italie, et particulièrement à Rome, il y a beaucoup de restaurants qui servent des plats purement italiens!!! Ce que j’adore.
L’Archetto sert une carte tout à fait normale et honorable par la qualité des aliments servis. Moi, très peu originale, je me suis servie des spaghettis bolognaise. Comme s’il n’y avait pas une multitude d’autres plats à essayer… mais je né suis pas fan du parmesan. ^^

Das Essen ist nicht besonders. Normaler Durchschnitt — eher sogar weniger…
Pizza (spärlich belegt) — in der Salatschüssel waren Tannen-​Nadeln?! Der Wein war nicht der Brüller.
Wenigstens ist die Speisekarte sehr umfangreich.
Eklig: der Kellner hatte ein fieses Hygiene-​Problem (Deo hat versagt).
Publikum: ausschließlich Touristen (das Restaurant liegt halt sehr zentral)…
Im Keller saß man beengt und nicht sehr charmant (neben leeren Wasser-​Kisten und einem lauten Gefrierschrank.
Die Damentoilette war abgeschlossen (ohne ein entsprechendes Hinweis-​Schild) — auf Nachfrage hat man mir mitgeteilt, dass diese Toilette «kaputt» sei. Ich durfte auf die Personal-​Toilette (ganz weit hinter der Küche mit mangelhafter Sauberkeit…)
Der Hammer zum Schluss:
die «Rechnung» wurde auf einen kleinen Fetzen Papier gekritzelt (ist so auf gar keinen Fall gesetzeskonform!!! — und gibt Ärger mit der Polizia, wenn man mit sowas erwischt wird). Der Posten «Steuern» auf der Rechnung ist ein schlechter Scherz — das läuft hier Schwarz– davon bin ich überzeugt…
Hier werden wir nie wieder einkehren! Lieber ins «Dar Poeta» oder ins Est, Est, Est /​bessere Küche, freundlicherer Service, korrekte Rechnungen, viele Einheimische!

Nun waren wir heute am 14.03.10 auch im L’archetto essen. Grund waren hier ein paar gute Empfehlungen… leider war es unerwartet ziemlich daneben, das aus mehreren Gründen:
— die Vorspeise war klein, mit grünen unreifen Tomaten versehen und schmeckte nicht besonders
— die Bedienung im Keller (großer Gastraum) war zwar freundlich, doch auch sehr ungepflegt und hatte tiefschwarze Fingernägel… naja!
— das Hauptgericht (Nudeln) war auch nur mittelmässig und erneut recht klein portioniert
— der offene Rotwein schmeckte wässrig und war (vermutlich) verdünnt
— das Allerschlimmste war jedoch die Rechnung. Wir erhielten diese handschriftlich und völlig unleserlich auf einem kleinen gelben Post It (!!!). Neben zu hohen Preisen wurde dann noch pauschal (!) eine Steuer von glatt und genau 5,00 Euro dazugerechnet…
Wir wollen uns nicht lange ärgern, doch das hier war klassische Touristenabzocke. Für uns logischerweise der erste und letzte Besuch im L’archetto.

Sehr gute Spaghetti zu äußerst günstigen Preisen. Leider gibt es keine andere Pasta zur Auswahl, dafür aber hunderte Soßen. Sonst gibt es nur noch Pizza und ein paar Vorspeisen auf der Karte. Die Bruschetta sind auch sehr zu empfehlen.
Der Gastraum ist sehr klein und eng, aber es gibt auch Plätze draußen und wohl im Untergeschoss.
Obwohl die Gäste fast ausschließlich aus Touristen bestehen, haben Qualität und Preis offensichtlich nicht darunter gelitten.

100 spaghettis au choix
Très bonne spaghetteria-​pizzeria fréquentée exclusivement par des italiens. Attente très longue mais une fois à table, c’est le bonheur. Repas complet avec spaghetti al dente et chianti pour environ 15 euros.

Magnificos entrantes, pastas magistrales, buenas carnes y excelentes vinos.
La verdad es que aquí comimos de maravilla en nuestra visita a Roma, con un precio acorde a lo que pedimos y un trato fabuloso del personal.

Ein Recht gutes Restaurant und die pasta echt lecker. Die Kellner sind nicht nur schnell und flink sondern auch recht witzig mit ihrem Schabernack den sie hier und da mal treiben ist irre witzig und kommt gut an.
Ist meistens sehr gut besucht das Restaurant und die Auswahl ist groß aber äußerst lecker und bestens zu empfehlen.

Wir haben das L’archetto ausprobiert, nachdem es hier ja sehr empfohlen wurde. Mein Urteil: Zu recht! Die Nudeln (wir hatten fünf verschiedene Gerichte) waren allesamt vorzüglich und al dente, auch der Nachtisch war lecker und selbst der Service stimmte — was ja im Zentrum Roms nicht unbedingt selbstverständlich ist. Kurzum: Danke für den Tipp.
PS: Die Miesmuscheln. mmmmmmhhh

Ich kann das Lob nur bestätigen … ich hasse es, zweimal an den gleichen Ort zu gehen, wenn viel Auswahl da ist … aber hier sind wir tatsächlich zweimal in vier Tagen Essen gegangen.
Leckeres Essen, insbes. die Pasta war ein Traum … und alles zu sehr erschwinglichen Preisen … auch wenn bei uns EURO 4 coperta berechnet wurden … da wir im November waren, saßen wir drinnen … im Kellergeschoss ist es aber auch sehr gemütlich und viele kleine Tische (auch wenn etwas kuschelig wegen des engen Platzes).
Bei uns war immer sehr viel los (Italiener und USA, kaum deutsch) … also nicht zu spät kommen!

Unser absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant in Rom!
Wir haben in drei Jahren wirklich einiges ausprobiert, aber wir landen immer wieder im L’ Archetto.
Es ist günstig, man hat eine riesige Auswahl und so lecker wie sonst kaum irgendwo. Und wenn ich günstig schreibe meine ich es auch so. Wir zahlen hier mit Vor-​, Haupt– und Nachspeise, einer Flasche Wasser und einer Flasche Wein unter 40 Euro. Und auch keine «coperta», wie in Italien so gern genommen. (Das ist die Leistung die man in Italien bezahlt, obwohl noch gar nichts getan wurde. ausser das Besteck hinzulegen…)
Die Kellner sind meistens zu einem Spässchen aufgelegt. (Nicht erschrecken lassen!)
Rechtzeitiges Kommen sichert gute Plätze — auch die Einheimischen essen hier gern.

Un choix incroyable ! les portions sont généreuses et les plats excellents ! Les points noirs: un monde pas possible et donc beaucoup de bruit. Nous sommes également tombés sur un serveur des plus incompétents. Mais heureusement ses autres collègues étaient là pour assurer un service et un accueil de qualité.
