Confusion here. Not clear who is in line where, money passed over counter while pay station is unmanned. Then you’re past it and suddenly they are taking orders and payment there. You’ve been passes over. They don’t even look at you. No eye contact. Not a word for you. Maybe too much popularity has made execution lazy, service goes downhill first, product next. Not for me. One star cause I can’t give zero

This little place isn’t too far away from the Duomo and not hard to find. And how can you really resist a place with a whole bunch of stellar reviews and Asian’s hovering outside(and inside) taking(endless) selfie’s with their ice cream cones and the shop? Oh wait, I think that will have to include me too. It was fairly empty when we were there, so we were able to meander. Hubs had the café gelato and I had an affogato(they do their with egg cream gelato and hot chocolate) AND two scoops of mandarino and pear(yes, I am that fatty). The affogato(I was told to expect vanilla and espresso) was pretty darn good with the combination of the hot chocolate and a scoop of the cold gelato in every bite(wasn’t too extreme of either hot and/or cold). Equally good were the gelatos. My pear wasn’t smooth(it had real pear pulp) but light, and the mandarino had a tartness to it that comes with biting out of an orange. Hubs enjoyed his café gelato(he didn’t say much so I assume that means he was in gelato heaven). This place isn’t one of those«fake» gelato places you’ll find around Italy, it’s the real deal!

Holy cow the apple and pear gelato are the best thing ever. If you don’t like this get your tongue checked.

This was my first taste of gelato when I got to Rome and we were met with a lineup on a late Sunday afternoon. In retrospective, I’m not sure if it’s worth the 10 minute wait now that I know there are so many other quality gelato places nearby, but I was completely satisfied with the wait at the time after my first fantastic lick into Grom’s gelato. I had the Madagascar Vanilla and the Crema Grom. The Vanilla in particular was outstanding, the vanilla flavour was so rich and the texture of the cream was unlike anything you would fine in North America. From what I hear, this store is the near kid on the block, although not the best gelato in town, it’s as far behind as others make it to be.

I had a piccolo with pistachio and fiorlatte gelato, so rich and creamy! The fiorlatte tasted like condensed milk. Not bad for 2.50 euro, and of course you can get samples.

The lines forming outside of Grom reminded me of the lines outside the colosseum, which is where I was several hours earlier that day. In retrospect, I’d rather pay an entrance fee to Grom, as I felt more satisfied at the end of my visit. Grom takes gelato flavor to a higher level… how…I don’t know. I suspect it does have something to do with the room in the back of the joint that says«Laboritorio.» All I can definitely attest to is how deep and rich the chocolate was in my Cioccalato Fondente. Absolute sin because I felt like I broke 3 commandments from the pleasure I took in eating this particular gelato. The texture of the gelato keeps consistent with the smoother feel over its cousin, the ice cream, but Grom takes that smoothness and triples it. Again, you may probably only find out how they did it by breaking into that secret laboratory in the rear. Apart from some other busy establishments, Grom employs enough people to deal with the hoards of customers. Besides, who cares how, right? What matters is end product, the glorious gelato that takes you higher than the Roman Gods on Mt. Olympus. Had enough of my cheesy references to Ancient Rome yet? Well, you’ll feel no other references will suffice when describing the gelato at Grom, once you try it.

Best«real» Gelato we have had. Gelato only suppose to have 4 ingredients. Most others are«mixes». This place is simply awesome. Make sure to get the Fresh Cream called panna on top. Definitely will go back.

Better than most, but not even close to the best. It’s solid gelato, but not even close to San Crispino or Giolitti, which are a few steps in either direction. Normally, I would rate four stars but because of the out and out superiority of the other gelaterie nearby, as well as its relative price, it gets two.

I would probably rate this higher if they hadn’t gotten rid of their vanilla flavor. I know the crema is good, but it is not nearly as good as the vanilla was. Also, opening this shop right across the street from GIolitti was weak. The idea that some unsuspecting tourists would be that close to Giolitti and never try it because of this shop is depressing.

A bit too sweet for my taste after the 3rd spoonful but they sure do like this stuff. A guy came in and asked for a smoothie of this stuff of some sort and I can only assume how sweet his drink was. So if you have a very sweet tooth, this is your place.
