In my preparation for my trip to Italy, there were two dishes my friends told me to look out for and try while there; Cacio e Pepe & Pizza Capricciosa. So after exploring the Spanish Steps I was lured in by a cute Italian waitress telling me about all the foods they have. «We have pasta, we have pizza, fresh fish.seafoods.meats!» It sounded great but what brought me in was that they had the two dishes I needed to try. Seeing how it was the first time I had Pizza Capricciosa and Cacio e Pepe, I enjoyed both dishes. Based on this meal, I actively searched out both of these during the rest of my trip in Italy.(Although Cacio e Pepe is a Roma cuisine) Overall it’s a great little place on the Piazza di Spagna.

Stopped by for lunch around 3pm. Wait staff was polite but not engaging. Food was delicious though. Had Parma ham with mozzarella as a starter. Shared a plate of mushroom risotto and ordered the sliced beef with rucola. Didn’t try dessert, but the price was reasonable and the again, the food was excellent. Would go back again if I wasn’t leaving.

My first impression of Doris was the of the ever-attentive staff — they’re all incredibly personable, and made us feel like we were friends of the family! Drinks: They didn’t have the beer I ordered from the menu, but brought me a very serviceable substitute. My friend accepted a red wine recommendation, and found that the wine was delicious, and paired well with her meal. Food: We had a cheese plate as an appetizer; it was good, but nothing memorable. For our entrees, we had a fish plate, which was spectacular! We also had a plate of pasta, which was average. Dessert: We were completely full after our meal, so we skipped dessert, but a number of the desserts we saw other diners eating looked quite good :-)

Killing time before tours we ended up in this part of Rome and decided to stop in here for a quick break. When we originally told them we didn’t want a full lunch, but instead a small snack, they seemed bummed, and almost didn’t want us taking up a coveted outside table, but quickly changed their mind and sat us. I’m sure they were happy when we ordered more than just a coffee as they were probably imagining. The service here was pretty good(again, once their«mood» changed), and they even brought over the wifi password for me when they saw me using my phone, so an extra star for that. I did go inside to use the restroom and was almost upset we didn’t get to sit in there. Small and cozy, but quite beautiful and the bathroom was very nice as well. Since this was«vacation» alcohol was necessary with every meal, so I happily sipped on some prosecco before deciding on proscuitto and melon as my afternoon snack. My step father surprised as all with a bit appetite and ordered ravioli, which he said was the best of the whole trip. My mother went with the more appropriate coffee and tart — afternoon carb fest, and she loved it. For an afternoon pick-me-up this was a great spot for people watching on the busy streets, and I think would be a great spot for dinner as well(given the beautiful interior).

This place(dobar/doris) really deserves 0 stars — hands down the worst combo of food and service we’ve gotten in Rome and possibly anywhere. We ordered the minestrone soup and a diavola pizza. The minestrone soup was about canned soup quality and for 10 euro they give you about a cup. They also brought out a margherita pizza and when I pointed it out the waiter shot me a dirty look and acted like it was my fault they made the wrong pizza. No apologies, and no offer to make the pizza I ordered. We were tight on time so ate the margherita, which was utterly bland. They topped the pizza with a single basil leaf and the pizza/sauce tasted no better than a frozen one. When we asked for the check we were promised it 3 times before they finally brought it. Unilocal has not let us down in Rome till this place but buyer beware when you’re in a touristy area. The American top 40 pop playing here should have been a dead giveaway. 100% tourist trap

Excellent food at Doris Restaurant which is the sister of Dobar. Arrabbiata pasta and potato crusted fish was just perfect.

Grabbed some early dinner here while shopping in the Piazza Della Spagna district. Ordered the cacio en pepe and the bucatini tartufo e funghi. Both were very good and the prices were reasonable, considering the area, at 10 and 11 Euros respectively. Service was good and the did not try to tack on a service charge.

While staying near the Spanish Steps this became our favorite place for lunch or breakfast. Excellent food, friendly service, good wine list.

Excellent service, tasty food, a little too touristic and the prices reflect it all. Still a great experience!

Don’t go if you’re not local and especially you’re Asian. They are very rude to us, joking with my home country which is not funny at all, and tried to cheat us with a water.(they have two kinds of water bottles, one is sealed one and another is not. If you get the bottle named«naturizzata aqua», you should carefully look inside the bottle. I highly suspect that the water in the bottle is not genuine.)

Good Italian restaurant with an modern décor next to Spanish Steps. Workers were funny and service was great, something seriously lacking in other restaurants.

This place was amazing! Right near the Spanish steps, my friend and I decided to sit down and eat. We were so surprised! The lobster dish was so delicious and the staff was very friendly!

This was probably the worst restaurants we’ve been to whole we’re in Italy. It wasn’t necessarily bad but it wasn’t great either. We had roast potato, risotto and lasagne and they were all bad. Such a tourist trap. The roast potato were soggy and salty, the risotto was overcooked and salty and the lasagne tasted like water. We actually came here after reading the reviews and I think I can honestly assume the people who worked there wrote them, except for Dennis, who pretty much summed it all well. There are way better restaurants around the area than this.

Not a a lot of choices on the menu. Food was ok but there are so many other great restaurants to choose from.

We’ve been here for breakfast & lunch. Great omelette for breakfast & even better lasagne for lunch. Charming service — the lasagne was the special dish of the day, recommended by the host. Very good it was too! Great location for shopping too & very close to the Spanish steps.

Our first day in Rome, fresh off the station of Spagna stand my boyfriend and I. The fiery Italian sun beating down and our fresh skin waiting to become burned without our cheap tourist straw hats wrapped with an Italian flag ribbon. Hunger soon overcomes our excitement for small Roman cobble-stone laced roads and our noses and eyes commence the ever so common ritual of searching for a quality place to fill our Italian food craving bellies. With beads of sweat being to form on the corners of our heads, the galaxy is brought out to research the nearest eatery to fulfil our linguini lust growing exponentially strong by the minute. What’s this? A 4.5 star restaurant in the middle of the tourist infested area of the Spanish steps? Perhaps this is a Unilocal app oasis where upon arrival will vanish in front of our famished eyes. Quickly we trek through a sea of straw hats and smartly dressed locals and found ourselves at Dobar. Quel chance!, we proclaimed as there was one table for two outside. We are immediately greeted with sparkling hospitality as expected from the previous reviews. With a rather immense menu, it was rather difficult to decide what the opening culinar act for this trip was going to be. Going with the initial gut feeling that the root of my cravings were derived from a pizza void, I decided on the quattro fromaggi pizza, some appetizers as an overture. Judging from the content of this review, you might have already presumed that I like a climactic review. However, in the case of Dobar, I cannot comply with that implication. Instead, I have led you, as the reader, to the point of this review where I must disclose that my impression of the food here was utterly mediocre. Not bad. Not good. But not just right either. Especially compared to the other amazing places we ate for the remaining duration of our trip. I apologize for the completely lackluster conclusion to this review, but for my next trip to Rome, Dobar will be Don’tbar…

Loved the service, high quality food and décor of this low key, but elegant modern Italian«bar». They accepted at 9:30 on a Saturday night without a reservation and treated us like friends. The fresh buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto is beyond what I’ve ever bad, and I’ve even made my own moz from scratch, not buffalo though. The fettuccini funghi truffles and risotto funghi were to die for. Never had a mushroom dish with this intense and delicious mushroom flavor. Oh, and the quality of the pasta was so very fresh. Also the beef carpaccio was excellent. The tiramisu was probably my favorite, mi piaci, but I like the soaked lady fingers and less marscapone. I know others prefer more marscapone, but this was definitely worth trying if you like. We did encounter some incredibly ungrateful, rude tourists(American unfortunately) who arrived at 11PM and still returned their food and acted badly, but other than that, it was delightful.
