Everything we ordered was very good. Must order the pistachio tiramisu! OMG so yummy.

Probably the bet Neal we had in our three day stay in Rome. My brother got the carbonara with truffle and I got the pizza(sausage, onion and mushroom). From all the pics the truffle carbonara looks amazing and it was. The bad part about it was that once he got the plate, there were no big truffle slices. He asked if this was the right dish, and the server immediately said oh I’ll get you more, no problem. Idk if they were trying to cheap us but the truffles made a big difference. The pizza was very good too. It was nice and simple pizza but so flavorful. I advise you to get a reservation so you won’t be standing outside. A lot of people like to linger after dinner so you don’t know when you’ll be sat. Service was not very good but service everywhere wasn’t good.

We went for dinner and this was one of the best meals we had in all of Italy. We started with the burrata and then split the grilled squid and the spaghetti carbonara. The carbonara was amazing. Definitely make a reservation a few days in advance since we still had to wait even with a reservation. If you can, sit outside. The outdoor seating is on the side of the restaurant and takes up half of a side street; it feels very authentic. If you have time, get a drink at Bar Fico before.

After doing everything touristy throughout Rome during the day, we were looking for a spot for dinner for Authentic Italian food. I came across Da Francesco on Unilocal and knew that we had to come here for dinner even without a reservation. When we arrived, there were so many people waiting outside for their tables. A little discouraged, I put my name down for a group of 5 people, and was pleasantly surprised when the host told me that the wait was around 30 min. We didn’t mind waiting because we knew that the food would be worth it. Right next to our table, there was a leg of prosciutto just sitting there — so we knew we had to order dishes with prosciutto since it would be freshly cut. The waiter gave us some of his recommendations and the rest I ordered based on the reviews/pictures I saw on Unilocal.Everything, and I mean literally everything that we ordered was nothing short of amazing. This was definitely as authentic as authentic hole-in-the wall Italian gets. I’ve never tasted such amazing and fresh pizza and pasta until Da Francesco. Would highly recommend getting the following: — Caprese — Fettuccini de Funghi — Black truffle carbonara — Porcini Pizza — Prosciutto Pizza — Spaghetti carbonara with fr — Tiramisu — Panna Cotta — Pistachio tiramisu We ordered two bottles of wine and loved it so much that we ordered one to take back to the hotel. Even the balsamic vinegar was so different and so tasty, that we asked the waiter if he could sell us a bottle. Not sure how he came up with the price but he told us we could have a bottle for 25 euros. A little overpriced if you ask me, but my dad really wanted it. Service/Gratuity was included in the bill, but my dad insisted on giving him 20 euros. You could tell he’s never received such a big tip because he ran over to his fellow waiters to show off and giggle. Definitely coming back when we’re in Rome next!

Great food and service! We had spaghetti, fettuccini, clams with mussels, and pizza. Everything was delicious, especially the mushroom, prosciutto and truffle pizza. We enjoyed our meal on the side patio, while the others walked by and envied our meal. Definitely a great restaurant to stop in and enjoy a wonderful meal in Rome.

The food and wine was delicious and that is why I scored them so high! One of the best dinners we had while in Rome. I had the tortellini with ham, and mushrooms, and my fiancé had the black truffle fettuccine. Both had great flavor. We also started with the truffle meat balls, it was really good, we had it as an appetizer instead of as a secondi plate. We had the brushetta, but there was nothing memorable about it(skip it). The service was not up to par I must admit, as we had to ask for water a couple of times. The tables outside are crowded with smokers, so we preferred to sit inside, away from the nicotine filled air.

I ordered the porcini pizza pie and my friend ordered the spaghetti with fresh clams. This was a pricey meal for the portion. I love thin crust and this was thin but not flavorful; I was eating a cracker with cheese and mushrooms. They should have sprinkled some truffle oil! The waitress was extremely rude but the waiter wasn’t.

First day in Rome, hankering for a good plate of pasta and was at old stomping grounds, the Piazza Navona. It was about to rain so I thought, hey Da Francesco was calling. I’ve had a few dishes here: the carbonara, all’amatriciana, truffles on pasta, cacio e pepe, pizze all very good. It was packed and luckily they had a table. Today though was craving a lush seafood dish and bam I saw squid ink in pasta. Hadda order it. Then I went Hmmmm, maybe a meat dish ‘cuz I was powerful hungry. So I ordered the roast lamb. First let me say that the service is on point, polite, attentive if not restrained. That’s the Da Francesco that I’ve always known. The squid ink pasta was so delicious, slightly briny(unlike squid ink in Asia which run on the sweet side) and yummy. Had to take half home which kinda makes people wonder here. Romans rarely take leftovers home. Well the dish was awesome just too much. Then the lamb came, it was delicious, perfectly roasted but it was again a huggggeee potion, too big, enough to feed 2 starving people. I love a good roast lamb and Da Francesco delivered. I wanted dessert but too full :) Visits: Many during summer breaks in college. Unilocal = 1 Tip: This is a small place, the food is very good but tables may be shared or you may feel cramped. Word to the wise, the second plate,(secondi piatti) maybe be enough to share with 2 people so ask your waitperson first. Try ordering other items that may appeal to you that is not covered in reviews. I ordered the squid ink pasta and it was amayzin’ This is a great classic Roman resto, come give it some love.

After touring Vatican City all day, my husband and I dined at Da Francesco’s for dinner. You have to either come when/before they open, make a reservation or just wait it out for a table. Luckily when we arrive, just after they had opened and we were able to get a table outside. Apparently all tables inside were booked for reservations. The pasta was very delicious and the desserts were even more delightful. I ordered the truffled pasta and my husband ordered the lasagna and we were both happy with our meals. For dessert, we ordered the pistachio tiramisu which was out of this world, and the panna cotta. Food did take a little while to come(unless to order pizza then it’s fast) but well worth the wait.

Came here twice during our trip to Rome. Super cute inside with traditional Italian décor. It’s kind of a touristy restaurant, but that didn’t bother us. Service is great and they really do their best to get your food out in a timely matter, but at the same time they don’t try to rush you out. The first time at the restaurant we ordered a prosciutto pizza which was on the thin side and not typical Napoli style. It was good, but I prefer a thicker crust. Also got the fettuccini with truffles and bacon — way too salty for my liking. The second time, we got the spinach ravioli and the Cacio e Pepe. Ravioli was tasty, but nothing to spectacular and the Cacio was again on the salty side. House Chardonnay was delish and the waiters were super sweet which is why I give it 4 stars. If I based this review solely on the food, I would give it a 3.

We were seated outside and got to be in close quarters to two other tables. Thankfully the other people dining near us were very fun and made for an enjoyable evening. Dinner was delicious. We ordered insalata capricciosa, fettuccine alla gricia con tartufo, and spaghetti all’amatriciana The salad was fresh and light. I usually do not like olives but found the olives tasty. The fettuccine was similar to carbonara but with truffles. All of the dishes were full of flavor. I particularly enjoyed the fettuccine. We would come back again if we could! The food is 4.5 due to portion considering that we have had more pasta for the same price at nearby restaurants.

Meh-ish. The food was good but not as memorable as the meal from Trattoria Vecchia Roma. The Truffled Fettuccini was tasty, slightly salty from the bacon, and the wrong pizza was initially sent out. We asked for mushroom with sausage and were given prosciutto instead. Asked for it to be changed which they did but the sausage looked raw and tasted of nothing. Would recommend skipping the sausage altogether. Bruschetta with Buratta, Cherry Tomatoes & Anchovies was tasty but in general the food here is priced a bit higher than the neighboring restaurants. Drinks are overpriced. Did not see ½ Liter wines on their list. All the Unilocal reviews attract more tourists than locals.

Huge plus for the really friendly service and affordable prices! Pasta was nicely al dente and portions are huge. Never thought i would say it … but you can only eat so much buttery, creamy pasta in one sitting. You can probably even share a pasta dish between two. The carbonara had a nice thick sauce though a bit on the salty side. We had another classic, Cacio e Pepe, and the simple cheese and pepper sauce was full of flavor. Cozy place i’d be happy to have another meal at next time in Rome.

The absolute best pasta carbonara I’ve ever had. Second to none. And, I totally understand why people have adverse reactions to the salty composition — but, heck. .. carbonara is eggs, salty meat and cheese — it’s suppose to be salty. Honestly — the carbonara sauce(the pasta was so-so) was OUTOFTHISWORLD. I had to stop myself from licking the plate. Believe you me, people were already staring — as I ordered enough for three people(heck, a guys gotta eat — and, you walk a lot in Rome). The service and salads were also excellent. I didn’t go to the sweets — but the young French couple sitting next to me(NB: you eat at basically communal tables; so if that’s a problem for you and your dinner mates — go beyond 8 when the crowds start to show up) ordered two great looking deserts! Finally. .. Yes, this is a busy place with a number of tourists(gringo and otherwise), and it rocks the plate. I consider it one of my best Italy meals. Go — you’ll be very happy!

A tomber !

Wonderful authentic unpretentious local food restaurant. It’s easy to find overpriced restaurants full of themselves in Rome. These places will serve you minimal servings of twisted classic dishes turning them into a joke. They will decorate your empty plate with dots of dressing and Piles of foam. You’ll never recognize or taste the real taste of fresh pasta and get the real experience of the great Italian cuisine. You want to stay away from expensive tourist traps and find places like Da Francisco. In Da Francisco they stayed loyal to to the origins. You’ll receive nothing but a good authentic Italian food. Everything the Italian food is known for and the service is outstanding. The dishes might not look like an art show but the food will play on your palate and entertain your stomach.

Mediocre at best. There are too many other better restaurants in Rome. This is just conveniently located if you’re visiting the Piazza Navona or Pantheon area. I walked in during a good dinner hour where I got seated right away without a reservation. It was an extremely hot humid September and they had an air conditioner that was not turned out… WHY?! I can tell all the patrons were uncomfortably leaking. BLACKTRUFFLECARBONARAPASTA — I love getting anything with truffle and carbonara is one of my favorite pasta dish… But this dish was HEAVILY salted. Each bite was hard to go on without wanting to chug a glass of water and the sauce was on the extra thick side LOBSTERPASTA — the dish was bland but at the same time with just a taste of the sea. Salty water. Not really a fresh sweet taste from the lobster. Must be because our lobster was extremely skimpy. We had small horrible pieces. Not even the claw had a decent fat chunk of claw meat. Skimpiest lobster pieces I’ve ever received in my life. PISTACHIOTIRAMISU — I wouldn’t really say tiramisu at all. That’s deceiving. It’s really just a pistachio cake… But for pistachio cake, it’s good. Please avoid this place, look elsewhere.

Definitely our best meal in Rome, thanks to a tour guide who suggested this spot which was on our way«home» from the tour drop off. As this place is popular and highly rated, you’ll probably end up with a bit of a wait(we waited for ~20 minutes on a Monday night in late September at ~9pm). Now, this place isn’t the smallest place we visited on the trip, but they do make it feel small by cramming people in here, and even doing some«family style» tables where you may be sitting with another couple or group. Like everywhere else, the wine is cheap, so you’re pretty much forced to get a bottle, so we happily sipped on our Chianti while waiting to place our order. Again, service isn’t fast paced in Italy so we did have to wait a bit to order, but enjoyed watching the pizza man spin his dough, and the ham get carved off the leg right next to our table. Being that we had just come off an all day tour we were famished, and each selected an appetizer to start. I had the tuna carpaccio which was perfect(I wanted something cold), my mother had a very different artichoke salad that we both weren’t sure we liked, but it was very different(in a good way), and my step father had the brushetta, which I didn’t try, but looked very vibrant on the plate. Our tour guide had made some suggestions on dishes to try while in Rome, so I went with his choice — Amatriciana, which was delicious! I’ve never had a tomato sauce quite like this one, and absolutely loved it. My step father had a lobster pasta dish which I found a hair too fishy(and I’m not one to say anything is fishy) but he loved it, and I did steal a bite of my mother’s truffled carbonara which of course was heaven. For dessert we had to try the pistachio tiramisu, which eliminated most of the coffee flavor(not a coffee fan) so I pretty much inhaled this dish! The egg flip with wild strawberries was also tried(think custard with strawberries) which I actually liked less than I thought I would, but I was still excited to eat wild strawberries ;) not something we find much around my part of the world lol. Solid 4 stars for the food, and maybe even a 4.5 considering the pricing! Highly recommend when in Rome and anywhere near the Piazza Navona area!

OK first things first. Rome in August is hot… like words can’t describe how gross I got on a regular basis hot. Why did I come to Rome in August? Well first of all it’s when things lined up, and second of all no one made me pick the hottest place in the world in the hottest month, I just wanted to go, so stop judging me! Anyway, walking into Da Francesco was, um, let’s go with unique. You normally don’t expect the inside of a restaurant that has a giant line outside begging for a table to be hotter than the ambient outdoor temperature. I honestly couldn’t believe how hot it was in there, and yet I’m 4 starring the place, so that tells you something about the quality of the food. If you like the idea of checking out the oldest part of the eternal city, and you should, then Ponte is the right part of town for you to stay in… go in March or November. After a few hours of walking along the original Bernini cobblestones(same guy who did the Vatican), you’ll develop a strange craving for a beer and margarita pizza, or wine and carbonara with speck. Trust me, this will happen. When it does, you’d be hard pressed to beat Da Francesco for a few really simple reasons: * First and foremost is the quality of the food. Its handmade, that’s obvious, but it’s also insanely delicious. * It’s reasonably priced, borderline cheap for what you get. Seriously, you can get an amazing meal here for between 10 – 20 euros a person; couple that with the aforementioned quality, and you’ll understand why there is a line of hungry Italians beating at the door every night. * The staff is super pleasant. They treat you very well; even if they are super cranky from working in the hottest restaurant in the world, they’ll never let you know. I came here twice on our last visit to Rome, it was seriously that good. Other places have a host or hostess luring you in with coupons for free prosecco or other gimmicks. Those same places will have, in little writing a 10% «Servizio» charge; I’m all about tipping, but only the touristy of tourist restaurants in a country where waiters make a decent living add in a service charge(it’s akin to paying more to eat in Times Square). Da Francesco does none of this, mostly because they don’t need to. No games, no one trying to sheepdog you through the door, just amazing in-house made food at a reasonable price. Come in, order a bottle of wine, and enjoy what in all likelihood will be the best meal you’ll have in Roma.
