Ate here our first night in Florence. Definitely had a local feel and a great place to get dinner. Really enjoyed the prosciutto e melone and carbonara. House wine was reasonably priced and good. Overall, this is an authentic, tasty, affordable option in a big Italian tourist city.

One of our favorite meals in all of Italy – and one of the most affordable! From start to finish, our experience here was yummy, entertaining and memorable! The food itself delivers satisfying portions of great tasting traditional dishes. We had the spaghetti bolognese and ravioli alle noci(filled with spinach and ricotta with walnut sauce) – both tasty, rich and filling. For dessert we had the panna cotta with chocolate – AMAZING!!! This was by far the best dessert we had in all of Italy! It was light, smooth, creamy and silky all at the same time. The consistency was unreal. It couldn’t have been more perfectly made. I think we may have licked the plate, I don’t know… But what really makes this place stand out is the random bursts of song by the owner, Sergio. Free entertainment with great food at an excellent price – can’t beat that!

Our absolute favorite! A wonderful place to experience Florentine food and fellowship. The owners are cool, the food is delicious, and you never know what is going to happen. Singing Italian songs in the narrow street with Daddy Sergio, making new friends over pitchers of vino della casa, or tapping your feet to jazz during one of their frequent musical happenings; this is an experience you will remember. Nella’s food is pure Italian soul; simple recipes, excellent ingredients, and attention to detail make every mouthful memorable. For starters, bruschetta and crostini Toscana are excellent. We split a smaller ½ kilo Florentine steak last time. Order«rare» and you will make Sergio smile. Specials can be awesome; veal with potatoes schraciatta and beef tagliatelle with balsamic sauce are winners. The sides are epic; potatoes arrosto have a nice crust, then melt in your mouth. This place even got me to love broccoli; fork-tender with garlic and olive oil… Yum! Don’t forget salssica w/fagioli; the sausage with white beans(w/Umbrian olio)… Words can’t describe. Live music nights are crowded, but worth it!

Good for lunch. The place has a traditional style of milieu and warm atmosphere. The menu has good variety and the items are reasonably priced. We tried the spinach and ricotta cheese gnocchi and barley soup. Food tasted good, portions were satisfying. Service was quick and the owner explained all the specials for lunch. As we reached towards the end of lunch time, the place was almost empty. The lunch overall was a good start for our first day at Firenze. I will recommend to try this place,

Great for dinner. My boyfriend and I stopped in at around 7:30pm. It still wasn’t packed yet because it’s a little early for dinner by Italian standards. We were able to snag a table immediately. When we got up to leave at 8:30/9 pm, there was a wait outside of 10 minutes, so go early if you can! I liked the ambiance in this restaurant, very quiet, dark, soft music playing. It felt very romantic. I ordered the walnut ravioli pasta and I shared the house wine with my boyfriend. The house red was pretty cheap and it was pretty good. The house wines we’ve had at other restaurants were either very watered down or tasted disgusting, so I was a little surprised by how good this was. The walnut ravioli was very interesting. I’m a huge fan of walnuts, so I decided to give this dish a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The cream sauce tasted exactly like walnuts, except in a liquid form. The dish was really good and I think the portions were perfect. For dessert, my boyfriend and I got the panna cotta. It was covered in dark chocolate. Yummmm. This was the first time I had it. I’m not sure what it’s made of, but it is so darn good. Plus, the dark chocolate adds the righ amount of bitterness to balance the sweetness. Overall, had a great dining experience here. Good service, delicious food and reasonable prices! I think it’s a must to stop by here if you’re in Firenze.

Great food, I had the chicken with tomatoes and arugula and my husband had the special chicken dish of the day fantastic! Owner was our waiter and he was really nice. Also prices were very inexpensive compared to other restaurants.

I’ve been to Firenze twice and have eaten here on both trips. Years apart — the food was still as incredible as I remember. We will definitely be back whenever we wind up in Firenze next!

Old style, cozy place with friendly and highly attentive staff. The proprietor put a smile on everyone’s face. The selection on the menu is straightforward and tasty. Our table enjoyed the soups, fresh salads and chicken dishes.

What a pleasant surprise this place was! We came in and the hosts greeted us with glasses of prosecco, a welcome drink from the cold of the night. We were sat in the corner of this small quaint restaurant with a bottle of Chianti, fresh tomato bruschetta, spaghetti Ala carraviattu, and gnocchi with Gorgonzola. The portions were large and price point was amazing — but the most fun part was the live music at 10 pm. Though the music played was all in English, we had an amazing time listening to them. Amazing night with beautiful people and I would recommend anyone go! Live bustling place

A wonderful meal! Everything we had was amazing(pesto linguini, walnut ravioli, chicken salad) but the grilled pollo was the best we’ve ever had. The restaurant is indeed run by twin brothers — they seemed a little brusque at first but they serve great food and have a good heart. Great atmosphere, super homey.

3 stars on the food alone. Tonight, the pasta and Florentine Steak were heavy handed with salt. The antipasti were forgettable. The highlight of the meal was the plain panna cotta and espresso at the end. Had no problem with the 5 star worthy service as everyone was super kind to us. Unilocal, you disappointed me tonight on the food.

Such a great restaurant kinda tucked away past the duomo and uffizi area of Florence. Small little place but, the wait staff was very nice, they happily took the check in offer of 20% off the bill and the food was excellent! I had the ravioli with spinach and ricotta with a walnut flavored cream sauce and my wife had the bolognese spaghetti, both highly recommended. And then there was some great jazz music! This place is a must if you are staying in Florence, period.

Straight up rude owner Kicked us out at 8:30 without offering a wait Just said no no and chased us to the door Noting the place doesn’t close till 10:30 am they had two open tables He did that to several people after us without explanation and screamed impossible! Go elsewhere

Not bad. Bur there was a some different attitude toward regular customers and tourists I guess. And serving was quite slow. Other than this, it was good. And taste was also not that good.

Trattoria Nella is great! It’s a charming restaurant run by two Identical Twin brothers! I mention that they are identical twins, because you rarely see them together. One brother works lunch, and the other works dinner. So if you go for lunch, and have a wonderful conversation with one of the brothers, and then come back a couple days later for dinner, and the guy acts like he’s never seen you… it’s because he hasn’t! ;) Which is exactly what happened to us! But once we figured out what was going on, we all had a good laugh. Anyway, back to the food. The food is wonderful! Perfectly cooked pasta, with delicious sauces. Fantastic meat dishes! And great soups and desserts too! We went for dinner with a large group, and had just about everything on the menu… and not one person was disappointed! I was especially in love with my pappardelle with rabbit! And my wife couldn’t stop talking about her walnut ravioli! Oh yeah, don’t miss the spinach! I know it sounds simple, but the sautéed spinach with butter is sublime! This is a small restaurant that makes fresh, delicious, and honest food. I cannot recommend Trattoria Nella enough! And I can’t wait to get back to Florence to try it again!

The food takes some time to come out, but that’s okay because this place makes their food with LOVE! Everything was on point — fresh ingredients, superb seasoning and cooked to perfection. I had the minestroni, spaghetti al pomodoro, grilled chicken and insalata(we ate here twice, I’m not that much of a fatty). It’s crazy how something so simple can taste so gosh dang good! Everything tasted exceptional! I highly recommend this place! Most places in Italy had pretty crappy service, but not this place. The waiters were very accomdating and kind.

We had so many great meals in Florence, but Trattoria Nella really stands out in my memory! We had reservations, but noticed other people came in without reservations no problem(on the earlier side). We started with the ½ liter of house red, the bruschetta and an insalata mista. The tomatoes in Italy are so fresh and delicious, so of course the bruschetta was fantastic. And the house red went fast! For dinner, we had the veal chop(GETTHEVEALCHOP!!!) and the pork chop special(grilled and topped with a marsala wine sauce and peas). The pork was delicious — but the veal chop was out of this world. And reasonably priced — we just can’t get veal like that at home! For dessert we had another ½ liter of the house red(it really goes fast!) and the homemade panna cotta, recommended by one of the servers. My husband loved it — a very traditional dessert that we can’t get at home. Steer away from the tourist trap restaurants and try some of the more classic restaurants like Trattoria Nella if you’re in Florence!

Stopped in for dinner the other night. Hadn’t read any reviews, so was worried if I would enjoy my meal. We got off to a rocky start as the main waiter was late and Things were moving slow, but once he arrived everything picked up. I ordered the lasagna and it was pretty good. Portion not too large, which my waistline appreciated, though my brain wanted more. Had a ¼ liter of house wine. Also had the panna cotta. I didn’t love all the chocolate sauce, but it was still good. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. Not too expensive. We got there when they opened and by the time we left there wasn’t an empty table to be found.
