We went to other places after visiting Trattoria La Stracotta and came back here for a second dinner the same night. What you get for your money is just double the value of what we got at the other places. House wine is amazing, so is the grilled beef fillet. Dinner for two and dessert to share was about 50 euros including the cover. Service was great, friendly and polite.

We came to eat here twice during our trip to Florence … Indicating that the food was very good. Ordered the fried chicken and fried zucchini flowered-outstanding! My husband ordered the sliced filet with rucolo and sliced Parmesan. Even pleased with the house red wine. Came back a second time and while it wasn’t as fabulous as the first it was still pretty darn tasty!

This place was probably more 3.5. The ambiance was nice — cute outdoor setup. Ordered the Poretti, white wine, buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes, liver crostini, bisteca alla fiorentina & tripa alla fiorentina. Seemed like table bread was stale tasting at most eating establishments(oddly). Beer in general was a bit on the bitter side too. The liver crostini was a large serving. It was ok but I’ve had better and I didn’t appreciate the burnt toast. Also the sauce for tripe was just not tasty to me — thought the food truck in town served this dish better. The moz with tomatoes was very fresh and the steak was delicious — cooked just right! A little crisp on the outside and tender & tasty on the inside.

I went to Stracotto with some friends based on Rick Steves’ recommendation. It’s in a great location with a lot of people watching and things to see so we sat outside. The food was delicious — I got the gnocchi and it was one of my favorite meals in Italy. The prices were very reasonable for what you got. It’s definitely on my list for when I go back to Florence!

We visited based on the all-knowing Rick Steves recommendation, and not disappointed at all. Sat at the window table indoors and the view was great — terrific people watching and off the beaten path a bit from tourists and selfie stick salesmen. Everyone ordered pasta and it was GREAT. House wine is highly recommended, make sure to make a reservation.

Food was good. Atmosphere was very touristy with flags of Texas hanging inside. Beware they will try to pull a fast one on you. Gratuity is included and they pressure you to up charge. We asked for 1 glass of wine and they brought out a 25 euro bottle and started pouring before we could say anything. Overall I would not go back. Eatalyis nearby with a better atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Il Porscopino was one of the best places we went during our two weeks in Italy. Our Verrazano Chianti Classico recommendation was wonderful. Appetizers were very tasty. All of our food was great especially my sons beef with truffle sauce. We also had wonderful canolli’s and mini tartlets for dessert. What made the evening even better was the service and hospitality from Marino and Franco, the latter of which is a MAJOR Univ of Texas fan. Us knowing this beforehand and bringing him some UT souvenirs was much appreciated. I highly recommend this place.

Reasonably priced fare in a classy yet relaxed setting. The dining room had high ceilings with sculptures on the ceiling, dark red drapery on the tall windows, and large chandeliers. Large outdoor seating area facing the Medici Chapels. Prompt service. A friend and I shared: * Homemade pici with pecorino cheese + pepper — 10EUR Loved the texture of the pasta. The sauce was rich and peppery. The portion didn’t look big initially, but the dish was very filling. * Florentine beef stew — 10EUR Chunks of beef on a plate without much juice and without any sides. Whole peppercorns clung to the meat, adding a kick to the already spicy sauce. Mostly tender. A few tough parts. I would have found this hard to eat without anything else to accompany it. * Sauteed spinach — 5EUR The spinach was oddly dry and stringy, resembling seaweed in taste and texture. Not sure what happened here. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t what we expected. 2EUR per person cover charge.

Very tasty, simple food. The mushroom flan appetizer was delicious and was topped with a crazy amount of truffle shavings. My chicken entrée was simple but enjoyable. For desert I had the chocolate«soufflé» which wasn’t actually a soufflé but rather a chocolate lava cake. It was still good, but I was disappointed.

As we visited Florence for the second time, we wanted to try different local locations and we found this spot. On our daily walks we passed this location a couple of time and we decided to give it a try. The menu had some much variety. We had our fill of pasta for the week so we got the grilled pork chops and chicken. Both were delicious. We also had the assorted cheeses and cream brûlée. Also good. I recommend you give this spot a try.

While I was staying at the Hotel Bretagna a few blocks away one of staff recommended Lo Stracotto and I must say I was very pleased that she did… Thank you Martina! She called ahead to make sure that the owner, Francesco Bonucci would spoil me. When I arrived, a pleasant table and a glass of Chianti were waiting and the meal was fantastic! After two delicious courses of soup I enjoyed the Patate Arrosto and Filetto di Manzo ai Tre Pepi… the roasted potatoes were very good but the fillet was probably one of the best I’ve ever had… it was cooked medium rare and served with another perfect Chianti… I would highly recommend that you visit Francesco and his superb staff at Trattoria Lo Stracotto on your next visit to Florence!

The food was awesome!!! I had a pasta with tomato, pesto and white sauce. Loved it! We sat there almost all day starting at noon until 7pm. It was a nice place — right at the beginning of San Lorenzo market. However, be careful when you go here — it’s a long walk to get to the restroom, which is hidden in a corner inside the café. It can get lonely & makes it easy for a server and/or any guy to follow you in and corner you. So just be careful!!! The servers are friendly(one of them — this 40 year old dude) way too friendly!!!).

Our first night in Italy(after an overnight flight w/a layover to Rome, train from Rome up to Florence, and a half day of touring) was all about going someplace close to our hotel. Being that it was our first dinner experience in Italy, we were unaware of the«dead hours» in between 5 and 7 pm, when seemingly nothing is open. No problem there, it was just something we weren’t aware of… but by seven pm, we were both ready to pass out after a good meal! Big party people, we are. We actually ended up eating at LS twice. LS is a cozy space split into two rooms. There are plenty of windows for natural light to come in, and provide for people watching. There is an outdoor seating area, but it was a little cool both times we ate there and I didn’t see anyone take advantage of that. The food was very good. The menu was a good mix of recognizable favorites and local specialties. I try to be a low maintenance orderer, but I overhead the waiter answer a lot of questions about dishes. Our waiter was very courteous. It’s usually not like my wife and I to eat at the same place twice during a trip, but the service was good and the location(for us) was perfect. A full meal(pasta course, meat course, wine X 2) is not cheap, but it makes for an enjoyable meal. LS is located right next to the Medici Chapels. Florence is such a walkable city… should be an easy trip for anyone staying in the old center of town. Recommend!

This restaurant is situated right in the Piazza Madonna degli Aldobrandini, and has a nice view of the Piazza from inside because the exterior of the restaurant is mostly windows. Looking in you will see lots of candles, a chandelier, and white cubbies on the walls filled with different wine bottles. The seating is divided into two front rooms and each party gets their own table(versus communal tables). The menu is double sided; with Italian on one side and English on the other. The menu is also divided by courses, however you do not have to order all of them. There are 4 courses: appetizers, first course, main course, desserts. The main courses are a variety of meats, but for you vegetarians don’t despair! The first course section has many vegetarian options to choose from. The first course section is about the same helping size as the main course but includes risottos, pastas, and salads instead of meats. The desert menu is classic Italian including tiramisu, chocolate soufflé, and crème brulle. Overall, I enjoyed a pleasant meal at Trattoria Lo Stracotto, with a nice cozy environment and good service.

had a late dinner here. the waiter was very chatty(a little too much for my taste — but mostly on the friendly side) and multilingual. the service was mixed — he forgot our salad somewhere on a counter and only brought it to the table(without comment or apology) after i asked about it. the food was ok but nothing exciting. my pasta seemed undercooked to me. prices were average, but value for money didn’t strike me as particularly good. personally i wouldn’t go there again. even though it wasn’t terrible, i am sure there are other, more exciting restaurants in firenze.
