The service was really slow, as a lot of reviewers stated and the portions were SMALL. We had to grab something else for my husband to eat afterwards because it was so small. But still it was solid food — just wouldn’t go back between the portions and pricing.

Order the steak and the pasta dish with the shrimp and bacon! My phone died or I would have taken some great photos. We were told to wait for the minutes by Daniella and it turned out to be about 20 minutes. The small glass of prosecco helped the wait. Thanks for a delicious meal. They make their own pastas and you an see them cook your food. There is a huge difference from home made pasta and pre-made pasta. Experience the fresh made Taste if you’ve never tried it.

FRESH, MODERN&DELICIOUS! You can’t go wrong here. My husband and I both cook and eat Italian food. We like very different dishes, so finding a place that can accommodate both, can be tricky. It’s located in the Piazza San Dispirito. Discovering it was truly Destino! We stayed in a flat around the corner and came in the back way and could not tell if they were open. Boy! The front was packed, as was the area in the front. More than any other place we’d seen. There was a wait and we almost didn’t stay. When you can try a fresh take on old classics, it can be a little unnerving. Have peace of mind. Everything was amazing! We expected service to lack due to kitchen being slammed. However, the waiter was attentive and quite lovely. The wine, apertivo, segundi, dessert… all were all so yummy! We’ve talked about it ever since. It’s a seasonal menu, based on local ingredients. We were there in Spring. Pasta with pesto and red mild sauce. Husband got a stuffed cone shaped pasta with sausage, potato, arugula inside. My favorite was the insalate. Mozzarella, crazy good tomatoes, basil and thee olive oil and salt. Oh my! Simple, yes! I have never had so few ingredients taste so incredible! Go! There are hundred of other pizza, osterio and trattatoria’s that do it Nona’s or Bobo’s way.

Ok – I heard super great things about their aperitivo – but this review is only for the dine-in menu(had lunch). I had Pici Cacio e Pepe which is for«cheese and pepper» on pici(imagine thick chewy spaghetti noodles with creamy cheese sauce). I kinda expected this, but it was heavy. Like really really buttery heavy, overwhelmingly so. The pici was on point though, it’s my favorite pasta and they did it well, nice and chewy. I mean, no wonder since they hand-make their pasta so it’s super fresh! :) The desserts here… were pretty expensive and weren’t that good. I think I’d trust other reviews and go to their aperitivo, enjoy the fresh pasta, but get your dessert fix at a bakery or a gelateria!

We came here on a recommendation by a local. We had a great experience, we ate inside and really enjoyed the décor and watching the fresh pasta being made. Toto helped pick some yummy prosecco and our scampi pasta was divine.

Great food. Service is lacking though. Seriously, just be patient when you’re here and ignore all the bad service. I came on a Sunday at 12:30pm for lunch and was lucky enough to get an outdoor table right away. Apparently everyone else that came after us had to queue in an area, which confused everyone. The staff was too busy hoarding the people in the area than attending the people actually dining. To be fair, it’s confusing because the tables are open, so people just sit down. This is not actually the case because the tables are reserved. A simple«reserved» sign would save everyone so much pain. Onto the food. The pasta serving sizes are American sized. You get your money’s worth here, and the food is very good as well. We opted for the fresh tagliatelle pasta with tomato sauce and basil. We were expecting a basil leaf, like in other Unilocal photos, but got a heap of pesto on top. Not complaining. Their menu is seasonal, so it changes very often. Use the photos as guides to the type of foods you may be eating, but definitely don’t expect exactly what’s in the photo. The grilled octopus was one of the best grilled octopus dishes I’ve had. It’s tied with a grilled octopus dish I had in Santorini. The octopus is super tender and served with what seems to be endless mounds of chickpeas, olives, and tomatoes. The dish is served with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper, so you can season to taste. I added just a tad of olive oil and salt. Everything else was perfect.

Walked over here for dinner with my friends and we wanted to get a seat outside. It was pretty packed, so we had to place our name down and wait for a table. We waited inside and as we walked in, we saw their huge bar for apertivo. The options were quite large and I was tempted to have apertivo here instead. We through around the suggestion of coming back on another day and have it, but unfortunately we didn’t. Once we were seated, we placed our orders for just a regular dinner. I ended up ordering the Sardinian special pasta with red spicy mussel soup. The pasta was very different from what I’m used to since it was little bits of pasta in this soup dish. The food was good, but I didn’t feel all that satisfied sadly. I also shared a large plate of appetizers with my friends and it had variations of cheese and cured meats. That was definitely worth the price. Sitting outdoors was quite nice and we had music performers playing the accordion and guitar. It was a good experience.

I know this place may be famous for pasta and desserts, but of course I had salad. It was the only one on the menu and I almost felt bad ordering something that healthy in an Italian pasta resto. The surprise when I got it! Big fat portion and the ingredients. OMG amazing. The autumn salad with dry fruits, black cabbage and pecorino cheese just made my night, it was delicious and satisfying, well presented too. As for the place it’s very big and I like the setting, the fact that is very central and that they play live somethings. The wine we ordered wasn’t that good though, but the service was super kind and at the counter we were offered limoncello as the Italian tradition wants. We also liked the blues playlist in the background! Do not order more than one dish unless you are very hungry, portions are generous!

Amazing place! If you ever come to Florence, this is a MUSTGO place. The atmosphere is amazing! If you are coming for an aperitivo, it’s better to book a table… search for the nicest person in the house, a Brazilian named Totó and be ready to be spoiled! Food is amazing… the desserts are incredible! The cheesecake is… well you need to try it! I have no words to describe it! Come, have fun… enjoy!

Great little place in Piazza San Spirito. We were recommended this place by our tour guide who raved about the hand-made pasta. We loved the décor of the place which is like a small college coffeship with a «tear» in the wall with a separate dining room. The kitchen is open in the front, kind of like the chinese noodle shops without the ducks hanging in the windows. We sat in the back and ordered off of their lunch menu which is great because you can order off their 10 Euro lunch menu which gets you an entrée with coffee and water or another entrée for slightly more. I ordered the roast Sicilian vegetables with mozzarella while my wife ordered the papparadelle with stuffed boar. Both entrees were good although not as tasty as some of the other places that we’ve been to in Florence. They unfortunately did not serve the roast octopus on that day so we couldn’t try that as we had heard a lot about it. The service was great and the the kitchen guys were really friendly. .Definitely a place to try again.

My girlfriend and I came across Tamero via the Times, and were not disappointed. The service was fantastic and welcoming, we had a great bottle of chianti with our dinner out on the patio in the piazza. For food, we shared the burrata salad and she had the pappardelle with short ribs and I had the fresh pesto pasta with cherry tomatoes. We loved all the dishes and would definitely return. Best parts: outstanding service, homemade pasta, solid wine menu Tip: make a reservation on the weekends, as with most places in Florence

I have traveled the Italian countryside over the last two weeks and just had my best meal, and it wasn’t even a meal, it was an apertivo. The food is fresh and spicy. It is Italian with a definite Spanish influence and the flavored are still dancing in my mouth. Delizioso!

Wow. Out of all the meals we had while traveling in Florence and Rome this is the one we will be dreaming about for years to come. It was actually so good we went back another night and were equally as thrilled. The menu is simple(one page) and the flavors are innovative. The seafood dishes and the crostini were particularly delicious. Also super cheap aperol spritzes!

Wonderful experience! We were lucky enough to get to meet the head chef and during that meet and greet he explained the different pastas and how he cooked them. We then got a sampler plate of his favorite and I was blown away! His ravioli stuffed with spinach was divine. We were on a dinner crawl with Curious Appetite(highly recommended!) and this was by far my favorite stop. I wish we had more time in Florence to visit and have a full meal here!

Being a tourist, we aren’t always welcomed in the nicest way, but the servers here were super friendly. The homemade pastas and pizza were so good, I had to write a review! Great cocktails and the outdoor ambiance on the plaza were a great experience! Will be back for more! Ciao!

We went here because it was getting late(after 10) and other restaurants were closing. Based on our host’s recommendations we came here. It definitely was a locals’ area, but I think the word is getting out to tourists. The service was really good. We were warmly greeted, they were very accommodating of our table request and were pretty quick with the food. There is seating inside and out in the piazza of Santo Spirito. Also the price wasn’t bad(9 – 16 euro/dish) — there is a service charge for dining as opposed to take away, and then a charge for water, but those seem standard for most restaurants. However the food — the food was pretty bad. So they have traditional Italian dishes and then new, fusion-y dishes: Mexican-Japanese, Mexican-Italian, Italian-Japanese, etc. We went traditional Italian thinking it was the safest. Wrong. Apparently, ravioli with shrimp and zucchini or pasta(paccheri) with tomato, ricotta, and eggplant is difficult. The ravioli had potato but then a really tangy flavor like sushi, and the zucchini was very bitter making it, and anything it touched, terrible. The paccheri was big, thick, gelatinous and probably 80% of our second dish. The eggplant was puréed and barely had any taste. The tomatoes were good when you could get one, and there was basically no salt, just a ton of olive oil. So, great mainly-locals location, good service, nice atmosphere, but way below average food. With so many restaurants, even within 5 minutes, I would go somewhere else. The only reason it wasn’t 1-star is the good service and nice ambience.

Food was good but overpriced for the area being amongst similar restaurants in the area. It was nothing great or horrible. For the price, it’s not worth it.

This was probably the worst Italian food I have ever had and I was in Italy. We were actually in search of another place in Florence to eat but after not being able to find it for like a half hour, we stumbled in here because we were hungry. I had a pasta with clams and mussels. My cousin had lobster and pasta. Mines wasn’t too bad even though I would never order it again, but my cousins lobster was down right nasty. And the inside didn’t seemed cooked enough because it was really mushy. She asked the waiter if it was cooked enough and he said yes and when she said she didn’t like it, he shrugged and said I” I don’t know what to tell you”. seriously? I guess this is were they think Americans are spoiled because we don’t like paying for food that is unedible. I will surely never go back. It was ina nice location in the middle of a square and the place itself was cool. Had a old school jazzy vibe to it. There was even a(on purpose I think) Hole in the wall. Ironic…

This restaurant, located right on piazza santo spirito is ok but nothing great or special, neither about the food or the atmosphere. If you are in a hurry, you can stop there but it is maybe worth walking a bit more for better food. The ham and cheese we shared as appetizers were good but average. The pasta cacio e peppe that i had after were a bit sticky and again nothing special, nothing very tasty in it: not enough pepper? Not a good pecorino? Something was missing and I did not even finish(but it is true that portions are very large). Judging from the choices of my friends this evening, I would suggest you to stick with Italian recipes as apparently the Indian chicken was really not so good. As a dessert we had a chocolate mouss with some biscotta and. olive oil. Besides the food which is overall ok but a bit disappointing for Florence, I did not like very much the somehow very cold atmosphere inside. I found the design a bit fake and not warm at all. This is very personnal of course but well this is a personnal review so yes I did not like it, especially the metal tables and chairs.

We came here after a recommendation from our host. This place is wonderful they make their own pasta and the staff can speak English too. It’s a trendy place that has a great night science too. Our waiter was great not pushy he had us seated promptly and took our order and he checked on us to see if our food was good! My husband got the squid ink pasta filled with a citrus potato and the sauce has a bit of spice. I ordered the Sardinian pasta that had been filled with potato it came with a green sauce shrimp and bacon. We finished with cappuccinos. I highly recommend this place. They do charge cover … 2 euros per person which seems to be normal in Italy.

We went here per recommendation of our guide. It was a local joint with very few tourists. The ambience was quite electic, mixed of modern and antique furniture and was put together well. Pianist was playing in the corner. Kitchen prominently displayed and the chefs looked great. So far so good and we had high hopes. And then everything went downhill. We waited for over half an hour to oder, another half an hour for water, and another half an hour for our bread and appetizer which was a terrible version of octopus tacos for 14 euros which I could get in San Jose CA for $ 5, then another half an hour hour pasta which was less than average for Italy. This was my 4th trip to Italy so I think I have a good barometer of what average is. We didn’t order any wine which must have irritated the manager or may be owner which by the way is Brazilian. And here is what I gave it a one star. I gave the waitress 50 euros for a 43 euros tab and the change was 2 euros. The Brazilian manager insisted that I gave him 45. He refused to look at his cash register. Come on I have been to Europe enough to know the green 5 euros from the red 10 euros. I was 100% sure I gave him 50 and he was 100% sure I gave him 45. I had my 2 year old son with me which threw quite a few tantrums after a 2 hour wait for food(can you blame him?), and we didn’t order wine, so we were certainly less than their ideal dinners. But that was no reason to stiff me on my change. There was a cover charge so I was certainly not going to Tip them for the horrible experience. I am on vacation so rather than arguing I just left. I hope the owner would read this review and respond. If you do, you should contact me and refund my 5 euros. That would amend this Unilocaler. AVOID this restaurant at all costs.

We ordered their house made pasta from the menu, the tortellini, one featuring wild boar and the other colored with squid ink, filled with citrus potatoes with a «spicy sauce». The sauce was far from«spicy». It was very fishy tasting. The homemade tortellini was very dense rather than a pillow. We’ve had many beautiful delicious caprese salads while in Italy. The tomatoes here were hard and not ripe. Something that you could go find at the hard rock chain. The service was very poor. However, the greeter, maybe the owner was very nice and helpful. The server not so much. I would keep walking past this spot.

Fantastic little place on the«other» side of the Arno. Very few tourists here, in fact the whole square had the vibe of a local hangout. It’s a bit trendier and more modern than many of the other restaurants in Florence, so was fun for a change. Funky décor, young crowd, and just felt like a very«cool» hangout. Not packed to the gills, but it was a Tuesday in February so no promises for what it’s like in July. We shared roasted cuttlefish filled with tabbouleh, and pici with duck sauce. Oh mah god. The cuttlefish was fine — very well cooked, served with a nice bulgur salad inside, blah blah blah THEPICIWITHDUCKSAUCE. That stuff was magic. If I knew duck could be this delicious I’d spend more time feeding them by the riverside… to fatten them up and then eat them. Soft, tender, succulent meat in a complex and rich sauce, good lord. Can this be my last meal? We were nearly fighting over it. I think we had dessert, and wine, but all else is forgotten. Service was a bit slow. I know it’s Italy and that’s normal but it was hard to get her attention at the beginning(I know it’s always hard at the end when you want the bill). STILL. Brave the crowds, wait for service, do what you need to do — get the pici with duck sauce and be happy.

My husband and I found this place while wandering around and the menu looked great. The cheese plate appetizer was great but my raviolo was cold and so mushy it fell apart while tring to eat it. My husband loved his squid ink pasta and octupus. Everyone aroind us ate dessert so we were excited to try but after 30 mins for chocolate mousse we told her to forget it and give us ghe check. She told us there was something wrong eith the mousse and we paid and left frustrated.

I had the pleasure of finally trying out Tamero this past week with a friend of mine. I heard about it from Kristina and a few other friends and I knew it would be at least pretty good. I like the idea of a ‘fresh’ pasta bar where the menu is short but the options are good. There were some things I really liked about it and some a little less. We ordered an appetizer to share — nachos with chili con carne and polenta which I honestly didn’t see any polenta. ‘Nachos’ is always a very liberal word in Italy. In this case it was a bowl of chili con carne with a few nacho chips, for the price it was a little too expensive if I am honest. I think you are way better off ordering a tagliere which is what they are most famous for besides the pasta. We ordered a bottle of pinot bianco with our meal which I wouldn’t recommend, I think go for the pinot grigio or another white because this one smelled a little off to be honest! Those were the only negative things. The pasta that we ordered was amazing. I got pici con cacio e pepe which I adore and my friend got a black tortelli pasta with octopus which I wanted to steal it was THATGOOD. The ambience is very very cool, we both really loved it. Think ‘shabby sheek’. We got a bottle of wine, water, shared an appetizer, each got a pasta dish and two coffees which came out too 57 euros. A little pricey for what we got but I did really enjoy the night so I would probably leave this for a special occasion kind of place!
