I recently had the pleasure of trying this restaurant out last week for the first time with a group of journalists and bloggers who were invited to try a variety of items off the menu. Located on a small street, adjacent to Piazza Santo Spirito in my ‘oltrarno’ — this place could be anywhere in the world. Walking through the doors, we could be in London, NY, Australia since the design is so unique and modern. Furniture has been refurbished and taken from a variety of sources, 1960’s-era chairs from Germany, a bar made from a wood barrel and modern, local art. The inside is cool to say the least. The best part of about this restaurant is the fact that despite the trendy look, prices are actually affordable. The lunch menu has prices that start at 5.50−6 euros for pasta and the menu changes weekly. The dinner menu is priced competatively as well, I really was impressed with the variety of innovative menu items that takes something like a simple Tuscan crostini with liver sauce pâté and brightens in it up with orange peel and other vibrant flavors. Being that this place also happens to be a cantina, they have an impressive wine list and I loved our 2011 Tuscan bianco, dry and fruity — it was perfect for lunch. I didn’t get to try dessert but I see from Kristina’s great review that they have tarte tatin which is one of my absolute favorites which means I must go back very soon. Its hard to find a place like this in Florence and it looks to already be a hit, I always see it crowded so make reservations. One downside is the lack of website or facebook page, I get that its new but a landing page or something like that should really be in place!
