I’m lucky that I live nearby such a tasty pizzeria! The ambience there is much trendier than the typical Florence trattoria, which is nice for change. I highly recommend ordering the Gattabuia tagliere.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Inexpensive food and casual dress. Pizza was very good 7 euros for a margherita pizza that easily feeds two. We also had gnocchi that was delicious. Wine for 3 euros/glass

Do not go here! Terrible service and food. Waited an hour after ordering before my pizza finally arrived. Pretty sure our order was missed/neglected as 2 tables sat down after us, ordered and finished their pizza before we even received ours. To top it off, the prosciutto & funghi pizza I ordered was flavorless, soggy in the middle, and cardboard all around. Frozen pizza out of the box tasted better than this.

Should have a 2 euro sign, not 3. Prices are reasonable(8 – 10 euro pizzas and pastas, 5 euro wine by glass and pint of beer). Food quality and service are great.

This was«our» restaurant while in Florence, on the Oltrano district. The service and atmosphere were first-rate. The building was used in the medieval age as a prison(«gattabuia» is Itaian for«prison»). However, the décor is the opposite of a corrections facility! The food is superb. They are renowned for their pizza, and the pasta dishes and starters are great. They have a terrific selection of wine and beer, as well as mixed drinks. Leave room for dessert!

The photos presented here do not do this restaurant justice. It is beautifully decorated inside and the food is fresh and delicious. The servers were friendly and meals arrived quickly. Pastas were homemade with inventive sauces many of which had fresh seasonal vegetables. A brick oven pizza was crisp and one of the best we tried in Italy. All of our individual meal requests – for example to make pasta a certain way– were carried out precisely. For Hotel David clients, this is within walking distance by about 5 minutes. It is on a busy street and is not really scenic from the outside but it is really great for a casual dinner. There is a cute outdoor set– up if that is your preference. Really affordable too!
