Each bite was a journey through neural pathways of pleasure. We tried many gelaterias in Bologna, all recommended by locals, but nothing came close to this. The warm melty chocolate inside the cone was revelatory. Brave the long lines, don’t miss this place!

Really amazing creamy gelato, also other ice-cream cakes which I have not tried yet. Make sure to get there during off hours during the week, if not expect to wait in line(especially since the service is actually good and they smile here). price for a small is 2.50.

By the time I tried Cremeria Funivia, I was honestly gelato-ed out. BUT I am a huge fan of ice cream sandwiches, and they had gelato versions! I got one with chocolate and pistachio, and it was glorious. Fun-sized as well so I wasn’t overwhelmed. Lines are long but it moves pretty quickly.

This is the best gelato place I have visited in Italy. I had the bacio which had a very rich chocolate and hazelnut flavor with entire hazelnuts. the stracciatela was really tasty, the bits of chocolate were really yummy. This place has various combinations as ice cream flavors that looked really good. The texture seems lighter and creamier than other gelato places. For a small cone with with two flavors you pay 2.50 euros which is quite decent.

We tried about 10 different Gelato shops and Cremeria Funivia was definitely our favorite. There was just something about the texture and richness of their flavors that completely sold us. We got the grande(€ 3.50 sugar cone/3 flavors) with Alice, Pistacchio and Tortino Funivia. This was, by far, the most expensive gelato we got during our stay(avg € 1.50−2.50). But, what can I say, we saved the best for last. Alice was simply amazing, Pistacchio was richly exquisite, and Tortino Funivia was tastefully refreshing. Out of all places, who would have thought our best gelato experience would have been in Bologna. Turns out there’s a Gelato University in the area — Carpigiani Gelato University.

I tried many types of Gelato on my trip to Italy, including the popular Giolitti in Rome, and this place ranks as number one in my book. Fresh, creamy, delicious flavors. I tried the amaretti and amarena, and also the pinolli. I just wish I could take them all home with me.

The best gelato I’ve experienced! Lovely setting, service, and such, but it is all about the food. The gelato was the very best. The Alice is a must — they serve some chocolate at the bottom of the cone. Anything else is up to you. I loved the Cavour!

Excellent gelato! Very creamy and the flavours were rich and satisfying. I tried San Luca which was fantastic — white chocolate with puffed rice — smooth, sweet and the rice crispies were a great touch. Also had bacio which had whole hazelnuts and rich chocolate. Definitely recommend this gelateria.

Je confirme, le meilleur glacier en ville. Pour les sorbets, la pulpe des fruits explose en bouche. Les prix sont plus que corrects. Inévitable.

So my wife has to eat gelato every day while in italy and I usually just have a taste of hers and while I agree gelato in Italy is wayyyyyy better then that of america(even if you compare the GROM in NYC to GROM in italy its leagues different) at this particular gelateria I had to get my own. This is the best gelato/ice cream place I have ever been to. It was recommended to us by a local so i knew it was going to be good. Our first gelato was a triple nut one(hazel nut, pine nut, pistacchio). The 2nd gelato we ordered was fruity(melon, ricotta/lemon, crème). Everything was amazing. If you are in bologna you HAVE to come here even if you dont like gelato. And of course like every other gelateria they will let you sample the gelato before you commit.

I Unilocaled this place for an after dinner gelato and boy did Unilocal deliver. Amazing. Life changing. Hands down the best gelato that I’ve ever eaten. The place was packed at 10:30 at night. Even though there was a line, the service was efficient and moved people through quickly. Very friendly staff. Mind blowing gelato. If you’re ever in Bologna this is the pinnacle of gelato. Don’t walk, run to this place.

I’ve eaten gelato all over Italy and Croatia and this is some of the best! Some fantastic flavors… some traditional and some slightly unusual. Deliciousness in a cone!

This is ridiculous, how can gelato be this good? I read about this place and realized that there’s actually 2 locations, one to the north and one downtown. The one downtown is conveniently next to a park and is perfect for sitting afterwards to indulge. At first it took me a while to order. Not only were there a lot of flavours, but they’re all in Italian… Ask for the English menu, they felt bad for me and gave me one. They serve gelato in cups and cones. a nice note is that they fill even the smallest baby cup twice of how tall it is and they let you pick up to 2 flavours with it. I ordered the pistachio gelato and the peach gelato. I swear, they put real ingredients in the gelato. The peach gelato was AMAZING and had chunks of peach littered throughout it. It was the perfect tartness and sweet as well. Definitely recommended. The pistachio was recommended from other reviews so I got it too. It was crazy as well. Super fragrant and delightful flavour. You could also taste ground pistachios in it. The place they make and serve the gelato in can best be described as a food lab. The gelato comes out of refrigerated silos and there are stainless steel vats churning more out all day long. If you have 1 place to go to bologna, come here. Or their other location. This is THEBESTGELATO I’ve ever had.

Is this the best gelateria on the planet? Quite possibly, yes. I’ve had a lot of gelato and been to Italy several times. This is awesome. My wife had mascarpone gelato which was insane. I had the straciatella, my favorite, and it was unreal. Recommended!

We’ve had a fair amount of gelato while traveling around Italy. Some very good in Rome. This was as good as it gets. While the selection isn’t great, what they make is exceptional. Don’t miss it if you are in Bologna.

By far the best gelato I’ve ever had. Amazingly smooth, rich, creamy, etc., etc. This was probably the 5th or 6th place we tried while in Europe and it was the clear winner for me. Beyond the set of standard flavors were specials that spanned the senses. I didn’t take any pics of gelato anywhere because it all looks the same, but the intangible quality of texture reigned supreme here. We ate here multiple times while in Bologna.
