when i went there with my boy about a month ago, their fish and chips were so fresh and delicious. also it was quite a lot. i couldn’t finish it all the chips after the fish, but my teenager boy did. it was SO good! i’m going back there any time i can. one thing i regretted was… i should’ve asked for extra vinegar.

Pros:
— solid location, right next to Slatterys so perfect after a few pints
— fried chicken was flavorful, crispy, and delicious
— curry chips were plentiful
Cons:
— the curry was more on the sweet side than spicy which I wish I had known; I’m a spicy man
— I should have asked if the snack box came with chips otherwise I wouldn’t have ordered them separately

This chipper is one of the best in the area. The staff are really nice and the portions are generous. Some items on the menu e.g. fresh fish, are a bit on the pricey side but that may not be surprising, given its location. That said, the cod and chips are probably the best I’ve had.

Every now and then I allow myself a takeaway and this is the best place I’ve been to yet, in all my years.
I’ve docked a mark for the prices but they’re notthat much worse than most takeaway places.
They open later than the other chippers in the area and they’re superior.
So much so that I walked all the way there in the lashing rain a while back just to get their chips rather than the nearer places.

Hay presto! And just like magic (well, ok, a slightly prolonged magic trick where you have to wait 10 mins for the ta-​daaaa), you get some hot, salty, vinegarey (yes, it’s a word) deep fried loveliness in a box, t’was a snack-​box for me and wifey last night after a long days house moving, we deserved a treat.
And a treat it was thought if I were to criticise (and you know I am if I start a sentence like that) I’d say the chips were a little underdone and small in portion.
None the less, I’m more than willing to try again on the basis that they were just having a bad day, the staff are friendly and I have a feeling that the standard is usually pretty good (call it woman’s intuition!!)

This is my local chipper. The chips are very good — generous serves, cooked nice and crisp in reasonably fresh oil. And they ask before they add salt and/​or vinegar. Critical. The fish is OK, sometimes frozen, sometimes fresh, but it’s a bit pricey. Ray, in particular, at (if memory serves) € 8 a pop is highway robbery. But Presto is always open, the food turnover is good thanks to a steady stream of customers from the pub across the road and the two girls behind the counter are up for a laugh when the grumpy old guy (who I assume is their Dad) isn’t looking.
