Feb Elite Event: Cocktails @ Copan!

This was my very first Unilocal event and as I went as Billy Nomates! I thought, feck it, just go (my plus one cried off)… whats the worse that can happen? I arrived, got my name tag and headed upstairs.
Everyone I met was very friendly and there was good conversation all evening.
The cocktail making was entertaining and then, mojito in hand, we were taken on a tour of the bar. Yes a tour, I think a first for me. The place is impressive, very stylishly decorated and the beer garden was amazing.
The food platters was a nice surprise… I wasn’t really expecting free stuff. The food was grand, as bar platters go.
I was very glad I went, as to be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

i was there for a Unilocal elite event last night and at first i was super excited to find out about a new (ish) cocktail bar in dublin cuz i love love love cocktails. but, after spending a little while there and listening to friends’ stories of the nightmare that is a weekend night in copan, i became a little hesitant about calling it my new fave place for a drink.
i will for now give it 4 stars because they didn’t do anything wrong, per se. and to the contrary the staff were super nice and friendly and at € 5 per cocktail, you really can’t beat the price.
also, they free-​pour the alcohol so no jintzy 35ml measured shots here! you r

It was just like that 80s Tom Cruise movie in which the protagonist mixes drinks to make his way through college, shags his way around New York, «grows as a character», allegedly, and sees his dreams come true in a way Hollywood would have you believe is possible in real life… I think the movie was called «Bartender».*
*Entirely appropriate reference to American Psycho. You really had to be there for that conversation about said same novel, which, as it happens, some of you were :)
Congrats to Ann for putting together a great event, and to the guys at Copan for making a potential customer of a habitual non-​cocktail drinker.

I went to Copan with the Unilocal!Elite Cocktail event. This was my first Unilocal!event/​experience and, I have to say, I probably would never have known Copan existed were it not for the event! But I digress…
I got started on a Mimosa (can’t go wrong with champagne) that had quite a tasty ratio, but the real fun started with the Mojito. I have never been a fan of Mojitos — mostly because I am not a huge fan of mint, but the bartender really delivered on this one. The mint was there, but was gently balanced with the lime and the rum (which, come on, is the true star of the drink.) I’d happily pay € 10 for the cocktail at some of my other haunts but, lucky for me, the cocktails at Copan are only € 5! Later in the night, we had a selection of Pub Grub: sausages, chips, chicken goujons, onion rings, unpretentious but very well done.
The staff are very friendly and seem to have a great deal of pride in the bar. The Décor shows a surprising attention to detail and stands out against other run-​of-​the-​mill theme bars.
I will certainly come back to this bar — just try and tear that cocktail menu away from me!

Thank you Annie for again throwing a fantastic elite event. I rarely visit Rathmines so it was such a treat to get to experience Copan. And I would like to thank you for introducing me to my new hang out spot.
The lay out of the bar is great. The staff were really friendly and the cocktails were refreshing.
But to write an honest review I felt it was my duty to wait around after the event and work my way through the cocktail menu and I can report that yes they are divine. And at € 5 a cocktail it is value for money.
Looking forward to the next event.

Ah the legend that is Annie, yet again Annie you surpassed yourself with not only a super event in a super venue but also for your calm, and your organisation skills keeping things moving along so everyone got to taste the cocktails on offer. I’m sorry I missed the Mimosas (spelling!!) but the mojitos were a good substitute. Hats off to you Annie and to the staff in Copan. My head tells the tale today of a good too many mojitos but suffice to say I enjoyed it immensely.
Bring on the next Event. And hello to all those fellow Elites I didn’t harangue last night! I’ll get to ye don’t worry.

Top notch! We arrived (on time!!) to the wonderfully designed Copan bar which is an aztec/​inca themed bar in Rathmines. The venue is very comfortable and swish, the downstairs decour is a little «under the sea» with giant squid-​like lights coming down from the sky. Lots of TV’s for the football fans including a large screen. We were met at the door by a lovely lady Annie who gave us name tags and a choice of a free pen or lip-​balm (being a bloke I went for the pen!) and taken upstairs to where the cocktail class was going to be. We met the even lovelier Annie. L who organised the event and we were offered a free champagne cocktail.
Once everyone was together the class went ahead. There was two excellent barmen and the group was divided. We had Steven who thought us how to make a mojito, a couple of people were brought up aftrerwards to give their cocktail making skills a shot (and of course drink the results after!). We were all then offered a mojito and then brought on a tour of the very impressive pub (check out the smoking section, almost like being on the set of an Indiana Jones movie!!) After the tour we were taken back upstairs and thought how to make another cocktail. Again we all got a tester after.
Annie L. really organised the event and co-​ordinated it very well. The group were a nice bunch with a mix of all nationalities. I got talking to some very nice and interesting people and was interesting to see how the all came about the Unilocal website. For my first Unilocal event I loved it and the people I brought with me really enjoyed the night. It’s a great way to meet new people from different walks of life and just to do something different. I’ll definitely be testing my cocktail making skills on friends who are coming over for dinner soon :)

Huge venue. Awesome décor. During the tour the bartender kept saying ‘unique’ about everything in the place and that was the most appropriate description possible. Beergarten. Huge screen TVs (not just big screen). DJ booth. Everything you could want all in one place.
I’m not usually a fan of Mojitos because I dont like mint but I enjoyed their Mojito more than the vodka based Exotic Passion (and I prefer vodka based drinks!)! The Mimosa was delicious as well.
This place is amazing and I will for sure be coming back soon. Especially since its 5euro cocktails everyday all day and night!
