I love this pub. It has a good atmosphere but the music was just way too loud the last few times I went there. It was impossible to chat. Our group of 20 people left to go outside or to the smoking area just to get a away from the deafening music. In fact half way through the night there was almost no one left in the pub. I gave up myself and went home with a sore throat and a pain In my ears. I understand thAt loud music gives atmosphere but there is a Difference between loud and painfully loud causing permanent ear damage loud. Please lower the decibels. I don’t want to have to go to an old mans pub. There must be some sort of compromise between a quiet pub and a deafening pub. I am not alone. Everybody else in my group was complaining of it and no one enjoyed the night. There are so many people who don’t go out at all cos the music in cork pubs is too loud.

I love this place! I have been in here a few times now and It is always a friendly, relaxed place to go to. The staff are nice, the drinks are reasonably priced and they serve DELICIOUS food! It is not the biggest place and at weekends it can get a bit too packed as it is so popular but during the week with a group of friends this place is alot of fun!!! The age group varies from early 20’s to mid 40’s and the dress can range from dressy jeans to full on glad rags obviously depending on the night! I would recommend this place for the yummy food alone. It is located just across the street from the South mall so not that hard to find. This is not a nightclub so dont go here if you want to dance but if it is a good night with food and drink you are after this is a pretty good spot!

My favourite pub in Cork, bar none. I’d recommend it as a spot for people who are only in Cork for a few days, but still want a bit of that famed(possible imaginary) Irish hospitality. The staff at Sober Lane are really cool, and go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. They do some really tasty food here, and their pizzas are the perfect companion to some beer. They make a real effort to have things happening at the pub every night, so you’ll have a great time any day of the week.

This is by far my favourite bar in Cork city. The atmosphere is always brilliant and they always have great special offers on every day of the week. Sober lane is a nice large cosy and comfy pub that the staff and owner will always make you feel welcome in wether you are a regular or just passing through. The food menu is simple comfort food that is very reasonably priced and finger licking good. The chicken goujons, pizza and wings are the stars of the show for me. Every night of the week there is something happening inside the doors of Sober lane eg. live music, table quiz, beer pong and other fun games and entertainment. If you only go to one bar in cork then make sure its the fabulous Sober lane and sample a pitcher of beer and the tasty food. This bar has become a Cork institution for people from all walks of life. Yes I love it and I know you will too.
