Between ¾ star. Avoid the crab cakes, if you are familiar with Chesapeake crab cakes. The potato stuffing just didn’t make it. The iDisk lamb stew must be ordered and shared. The beef lasagna pretty good with more veggies than 2can eat. The shredded beets, rutabaga and carrots are simple and satisfying. We got chicken pene pasta and it was good for a college girl enjoying her first half pint of Murphy’s. I wasn’t familiar with Paddy’s Rye whiskey, but it passed 2judgements.

First night in Cork, Clancys was recommended by our hotel. Best salmon and Irish stew we have had. And the Murphy’s Stout was excellent.

Excellent atmosphere and the staff couldn’t be nicer! We arrived in Cork after a full day of touring and stumbled upon this restaurant. We sat in the bar area as the restaurant was full. There were a few tables in the bar and we were able to get the corner booth right under the TV which was good because we were watching the soccer game. The bar tender waited on us and we were able to get the early bird special(it was just about 7:30PM) so that was a nice surprise. My sister and I split the Mexican Style Garlic Bread appetizer(basically just cheesy bread)(as part of her pick 2), I got the fish and chips(which were pretty good), and we split a malt-ball cheesecake(which was part of my pick 2) which I thought was excellent. For my sister’s main dish, she got the Chicken Goujons(chicken fingers as we call it in the States) and she raved about it and loved the garlic mayo. Even though we were in the bar area, we got excellent service. Price was about average and what we had been paying at other pubs/resturants in Ireland while we were there(approx. $ 35 euro each with tips and drinks). Our waiter was extremely pleasant and made our time in Cork an excellent experience.

A legendary Cork pub, Clancy’s has been around for decades. Once a traditional bar, it’s since moved on to good food and good wine. The bar still remains, and is a great place to stop for lunch when shopping. Good place for a night out with an older crowd on weekends.
