Despite the name(doesn’t leave me the best mental image) — Electric Fishbar was a hit with our group! Lacking plans(or reservations) on a Saturday night in Cork, we ambled along the river and fell upon this spot. After a round of drinks outside, we were quite hungry and luckily my date had the foresight to put our name in when he went to get that first round. Knew I married him for a reason! Electric Fishbar is a bit of a split personality. Downstairs, is not really a person I’d want to hang out with sober. Very clubby. Short skirts, hen dos, lots of lads, LOUD. Rowdy, even. I didn’t have high hopes for dinner but we took a chance, and were out of options… Led upstairs. OK, ok… I like what I’m seeing. This persona I can get on board with, pun intended! Relaxed, bright second floor restaurant with excellent food, great service and drinks. So, to the meal — it’s obviously seafood focused, and the menu is built for sharing. Our group of 6 ordered basically the entire menu of small plates. The standouts being the monkfish, the crab and the oysters. Honestly though, everything was stellar, including our servers. The place was pleasantly full, bustling and buzzing. The views out over the river for the back half of the restaurant are nice as well. We stumbled upon it so now you can enjoy it – check it out for yourself! Don’t let the downstairs/patio vibe fool you, there is great food to be had once you head upstairs…
