Zinc Bar

Zinc is located right in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong, and this corner is quintessential to a LKF night-​out. They have a few tables and seats right on the street which are prime for people watching and meeting new people.
The crowd is a mix of ex-​pats, tourists, and travelers of every nationality and ethnicity. Examples of people I’ve met here include: businessmen from Shanghai and Beijing, English ex-​pats, Canadian ex-​pats, Australians (so many Australians), Chinese-​American guys from New York, a Swiss man on holiday, a Japanese model from London, and the list goes on. The one thing everyone has in common is that everyone is looking to party and have fun!
So much fun that I can’t really remember any details about the actual bar. Was there a dance floor inside? I can’t really remember. What were the price of the drinks? I can’t really remember. Did I even pay for any drinks? I can’t really remember.
In my mind… all that’s left are fun memories and great stories! I’m a fan!

I like Zinc. I like it quite a bit, and it has nothing to do with the pole set up by the rear of the bar for drunk girls to dance with. Let’s face it, that fantasy never turns out the way I imagine it. It usually ends up being a dude that was dared by one of his friends to go up. Not a skinny dude either. No, I’ve never been up. I like Zinc because of the Buddhas lurking around the room. I don’t understand how they have anything to do with the idea of nightlife and partying (happiness maybe?) but I try not to dwell on that.
Zinc is a popular place in Lang Kwai Fong, it offers a decent happy hour, good music and tiny dance floor. It’s too popular for its own good. Every time I’ve been after 12 at night it’s crowded to the point that I can’t get to the other end of the bar, where the toilet and dance floor is, without getting a drink spilt on me. Just to clarify, I’m almost always heading in that direction for the toilet, not the dancing part. But like most of the bars on that road there’s always that small square section of concrete just outside that provides a respite. Zinc has a couple table/​sofa things as you enter but getting there in time for that is not realistic, that is unless you want to stay around from 9pm drinking expensively priced drinks all night.
I may sound a little harsh in this review towards Zinc but I have to say that I’ve had many a great night there, partying into the early morning. Their drinks are good and they don’t shy away from making a rum and coke taste like there’s rum inside!
