We all shed a tear when the H&M in Central — the very first H&M in HK, and one of the biggest, too — announced its removal. When I heard it was going to be overtaken by Zara, I wasn’t happy. H&M is much more affordable, and in my opinion, more suited for a younger audience. But alas — the new Zara isn’t all bad! As with the H&M that stood in its place before, the basement floor is men’s, the ground and second floor is women’s and the highest floor is kids’. The first thing I noticed upon stepping in is that the entrance to Zara is much smaller than it used to be when it was H&M. The ground floor is more formal — think slacks appropriate-length mini skirts and buttoned tops. The second floor is more casual fashion, so if you’re looking for summery tank tops and shorts, this is where you should be. But for me, it’s the children’s section here that steals the show. My mother and I were really surprised to see how nice the children’s range was — cute t-shirts with things like flowers and ballerinas on them had additional cloth over them to simulate petals and tutu skirts, and they were simply adorable. The fall/winter stuff is in, and fluffy jackets and trench coats are all the rage. We have nobody to be shopping for, but my mother and I were shopping for ourselves! The sizes 13 – 14 are surprisingly roomy and we could wear a lot of the clothes in this size, although sometimes the shoulder area was a little tight. My mother bought herself a pale blue long-sleeved top with a lace panel running down it. I wanted to buy two tops with a babydoll cutout and some embroidery on them that gave them a sheek bohemian look, but unfortunately the biggest available size was 9 – 10. I love how this Zara is very spacious and great to take my time and walk around in. The changing rooms are pretty large too. If you’re a fan of Zara, or if you have any kids’ shopping to do(or if you’re a little on the smaller size, like me), definitely stop by this Zara!
