Varga Lounge

By far my favourite cocktail bar in Hong Kong. Have been a regular here well before I discovered Unilocal and will continue to be. It’s a small bar but the bar staff are always helpful and friendly. You can hire the upstairs for private parties which we have done a few times, also performing burlesque in the small space. Suren is amazing and will make you up a delicious cocktail if you are not sure what you like. My favourites are the passion fruit martini and the Godiva chocolate martini.

So many fantastic memories here! Have been going here from 2010 onward. The bartenders are very friendly and great entertainers! All you have to do is order an absinthe drink to find out. They’ll light a cube of sugar on fire above your drink and sprinkle water on it so that you’re left with a sugar cube sculpture that then collapses.
My favorite drink here is called ‘better than cheesecake’ and it really is! Mango, sake and vodka I think with a basil leaf. This is a fantastic drink and if you’re not careful you’ll have 3 of them and realize it’s time to go home.
This place is home to the world famous vixen burlesque group. They are wonderful to watch. The upstairs area is just like the living room we all wish we could have — comfortable sofa chairs, great music and fun dance shows!

Varga Lounge has been on my HK radar for many many years. It’s a one true love. The bar is intimate, cozy and if you have a big group, call ahead to reserve the upstairs room.
Decorated with 1920s pin ups, comfy sofas and a range of chilled to cheesy music you’ll have a super time.
Onto the most important element of any bar — the drinks list. Cocktails are what Varga do best. I have sampled my way through the menu and recommend anything that ends in a «tini». From the delicious passion fruit martini to the «better than cheesecake-​tini» there is something for everyone. If in doubt, ask Sirin, the friendly, courteous and gentile bar manager, for what he recommends that night (especially if your desired drink is fruit based).
Varga has very happily become my local for a swift cocktail (or three). Just don’t have too many espresso martini’s if you’re hoping to sleep in the next couple of hours — been there, done that, have the bags (and heart palpitations) the next day to prove it.
