I typically frown upon dining in restaurants that are part of hotels because they’re a lazy excuse to not go out to eat. However, with an early afternoon flight departure and limited time to wander around Mong Kok for a new eatery, The Place was convenient and proved excellence in food quality, service, and ambiance. They have a variety of buffet food options available, from traditional HK style to Westernized. The dim sum here unfortunately wasn’t the best, as I found the pan-fried turnip cake too dry and the sui mai too dainty. But the sliced smoked fish were delicious, eggs can be made to order, the baked pastries were just the right size to satisfy without leftovers, and the fruit were very fresh. Plus, there’s a made to order fresh juice bar! The restaurant was very clean and modern with a lot of open space. The service was friendly and attentive too. I dined here once for breakfast, but I imagine the lunch and diner buffets offer a huge and delicious variety as well. Cordis guests get 20% off meal, and given how The Place is inside the hotel, it caters more to tourists than it would to locals.

I enjoyed dining at The Place at Langham hotel. This buffet has a great selection of items and features some cantonese cuisines from a Michelin star restaurant. The price is also not too expensive. They have a Japanese station where sashimi, nigiri, and sushi was served. I love salmon sashimi, so this was a great part of the buffet! They also had oysters which I love! The hot dishes were freshly cooked. There were a lot of people at the buffet so the food turnover rate is pretty fast and nothing has been sitting there for too long. My favorite was the Indonesian style pork neck bone. The meat was so tender and it was packed with flavors. The siu mai and char siu were also my favorite. The char siu was grilled and marinated well. My favorite part was the dessert. No matter how full I am, I always have room for dessert. The best was the Hokkaido milk pudding with birds nest. It was so creamy and decadent. The macarons were also lovely. They have an espresso machine where it makes lattés and cappuccino. It was great to enjoy a cup of latté with my dessert. I left here full and satisfied. I definitely will come back.
