Food is good — that’s the 2 stars for since it should be expected. But service is superficial and all servers are outright cocky, thinking that the Michelin star restaurant is everything(no heart and soul, just the flesh). With the price, there are other choices, even crossing to Island side.

Excellent dim sum! Probably the most sophisticated dim sum I had in my life. However, I’m not sure if the restaurant really deserves Michelin 2 star rating… I would just give it 1 star. I loved the presentation and the flavor of everything I’ve tried but I didn’t find it memorable enough because there are plenty of good dim sum places in HK that are way cheaper. The ambiance is very posh and stuffy, which explains why this place gets Michelin 2stars. I probably won’t come back here with my own dime because it’s very pricey but I would love to eat here again.

Ming Court in The Langham Place Hotel in Mong Kok, is a Michelin starred restaurant that perhaps deserves its reputation. And what I mean by saying«perhaps deserves its reputation», is that whilst the food was of a very high quality, and incredibly well presented, did it really knock my socks off? Quite honestly I’m not sure, but then I’m not a Michelin starred food critic. So let’s discuss the food. The roast suckling pig was absolutely brilliant. It was crispy, very tasty, and actually included some of the meat underneath the skin. This is not to say that it was a large portion, it was in fact quite small. Especially for the $ 300 plus pricetag. Unfortunately the roast duck was not the finest that I’ve ever had. The American peaking restaurant on Lockhart Road in fact does a better duck dish. However the second course on the duck was very well done. They had different styles on the second course duck dish, I opted for the simple lettuce wrap which was cooked to perfection. Other highlights included, crab baked in shell with Parmesan cheese, seven spiced crispy tofu, drunken marinated pigeon(which was only so so), a fried grouper fillet stuffed with minced shrimp, and the complimentary desserts that were served on dry ice — nice touch! The menu is vast, the choices are frankly mind-boggling. If anything, I think the menu is a little bit too big. However, the staff are on standby to guide you through the weighty volume, and the advice is very good. I’m quite surprised that they didn’t try to up-sell us with additional dishes, and in fact stopped us from ordering too much. Aside from the very exclusive food, the environment here is wonderful. It is very well decorated, incredibly clean and well presented, and for once I have come to a Chinese restaurant, where I’m far enough away from the table next to me, so that I can’t see the colour of their tonsils. Do go if you get a chance, but you may want to convince your boss or your father-in-law to pay for dinner because it is quite pricey.
