Visited this restaurant twice so far. Fancy and delicate food. Cost around USD400 per person. Open a wine will easily shoot up to USD2000. Worth the try if you want some good food and a spectacular view.

Visit: January 2015 I made reservations at Ryu Gin two weeks in advance and had to leave my credit card info when I made reservations. At the time, I requested a table next to the window and let them know in advance that it was for a birthday dinner. My first visit to Ryu Gin, I didn’t think the food was all that amazing. It was good, yes. Amazing, sadly no. It was lacking that special something that would leave you wanting more, which my friend would use«pak toi»(slam table) to describe. These were the most noteworthy dishes we were served on the night of our visit: Charcoal grilled Aflonsino served with crispy scales: This dish was the bomb. It’s that one dish that really stood out from the rest. The fish looks scaly and perhaps you would even question whether it really is edible but I can assure you, every piece of scale will leave you wanting for more. This was the closest dish to that«pak toi» moment I had. Wagyu ribeye sukiyaki with onsen tamago The slice of wagyu was just good with the onsen egg in general.

The ultimate fancy contemporary Japanese cuisine experience, in the tallest building in Hong Kong. If you are lucky, you can also get a spectacular view. What an experience. I’m one lucky girl to be celebrating my birthday here with my dearest family, and didn’t have to pay a dime(heh). They only serve one tasting menu here, so you don’t get to choose what you’re having, but you do get to choose what sake to accompany your meal with. You also get to choose the exact sake cup to drink it from. There are 8 savory courses and 2 sweet ones. Quite a few of them are out of this world, including a dish with fresh figs, topped with foie gras, wasanbon sugar and sesame cream, which my dad raved on and on about for weeks after, delicious sous vide wagyu beef that melts in your mouth, and a luxurious chawanmushi(steamed egg) topped with crab and crab roe. The desserts are mindblowingly good as well. There is a candy-shelled pear with pear jam inside, all frozen with liquid nitrogen, and tasted like fresh pears in falling snow. The other dessert is chestnut ice cream topped with shaved chestnut — as the biggest chestnut fan on Earth this was my absolute favourite, and while I was quite full I still devoured it all. The meal ended with some matcha and sweets, and was such a perfect ending to a perfect meal. I would totally come here again, if only it wasn’t so expensive as well. Be prepared to spend a couple grand(HKD) here, but for Michelin 2 stars and the food, I’d say it was totally worth it.

Magnificent view. Service is ok nothing special, waitress poor english, maybe they are more focus for Putonghua tourist. Food — for the set course there are 2 dishes impressed me, others is nothing special. Maybe my expectation is too high for a Michelin restaurant. After this experience, I will not book resturant because of the fame.

One of the most spectacular views of Hong Kong Island and the food just incredible. Located on floor 101 brings Japanese food to a new level. I’m a bit rushed and will write more when I get to my computer. In the mean time don’t miss out on this gem.

This is the best meal I’ve ever had. Each course was exceptional, innovative but not pretentious. The sake was also fantastic and the views are just incredible. It is expensive but I’ve thought about this meal every day since, so it was most certainly worth it

Ryugin, a solid 2 michelin starred Japanese restaurant in hongkong. The kiseki course meal was exceptional. Most of the ingredients were from Hokkaido, very well prepared and presented. Beautiful night skyscraper, vibe, hongkong city. This ryugin location offers hongkong exclusive menus such as shanghai crabs and few other local ingredients. After the dinner the head chef came out to greet me with respect. Intoxicating and elegant vibe, loved every min up in the 101/F at ICC. I would love to return here on my trip back to Hong Kong.
