Tai Wing Wah Village Cuisine

This place is packed! This is actually my first time to come for dinner (I usually go to their Kowloon Bay location for lunch). Food is good (loved the chicken!) and service is typical for an old school Chinese restaurant (i.e., you have to share a table with strangers, endure the crude servers, etc). It’s better if you come as a large group since their portion is huge (There is only one size!) We ended up taking a lot of the leftovers to-​go.

Summary: Food is ok but… Beware of its food safety practice
Review: Friends that lunch with me often know that I have streaks of bad experience with restaurants. No exception. My food is either delayed, have interesting non-​edible «addon», or outright uncooked.
This happened to me again… The latest victim of my bad luck, Tai Wing Wah. To be honest, I love their food and it is my go-​to place whenever I am in the area. Then, disaster strikes. During lunch with my family, my mum suddenly yelled, «cockroach!». Then I noticed the little creature stopping by her cup and starting to make a run towards me! yikes!
We immediately asked a waiter to take care of it. He finished the poor thing off rather un-​skillfully with a stomp next tony mum…
He then explained unapologetically that they just did their monthly pest control. It is normally to have bugs strolling around afterwards…
Conclusion: check ahead their pest control schedule before going. Avoid this restaurant the day after its pest control.
